Using Diamond free drinks on seapass on Serenade of the Seas

We have not been on RC since they started putting the drinks onto your sea pass.

How do we use up the drinks each day?

Do we have to tell the bartender to use the drink 'coupon' or will they do it automatically until the 4 free drinks are used each day?

You can choose whether you want to use the coupon or not, for example if you want to save it for a more expensive cocktail in the evening. Just let your server know when you hand over seapass otherwise the default will be to use it.

Thanks for the info.  Sounds easy enough.  This seems much nicer than Celebrity.... drinks free only from 5-7pm, and then only for a specific drink menu ☹️

The vouchers are new recently...used to be the free drinks were in the lounge only, and indeed most ships being 5-7.

We love the new voucher program.  Any hour, and any bar....is happy hour!  🤗

Which also means any drink! Very nice to be able to get something frozen by the pool/Solarium, a specialty drink from Playmakers or Mason Jar, etc.

I wasn't complaining at the time but it was hard to get creative using the old happy hour lounge menu.

Just a few words of advice!

I would strongly advice letting each bar tender know every time that you either do or don't want to use your voucher for the particular drink you are ordering. You may be ordering something that is only a couple of dollars when you really want to be using your vouchers for something that is nearer to the $14. They are now supposed to issue receipts now for each transaction, but this was hit and miss on may last cruise.

Also, if you are at the bar on your own but have both yours and your partners cards and you plan on getting a drink each for both you and want to take 1 drink off each card then also make sure you ask the bar tender to do just that. Otherwise he may take 2 off the same card. Not too hard if you are Diamond as you get 4 drinks per card so they would take 2 and 2 but if you are Diamond plus then you get 5 drinks so you have 1 drink left on each card at the end and you may have to go to guest services if they try to take 2 off at that point.

One place that is difficult to check is the MDR as the waiters (normally after the first night) get your drinks automatically without asking for cards. It is best to check either your app or stateroom TV at some point before trying to use the last drinks in case they have made that mistake I just mentioned.

I do miss the old Diamond Lounge get togethers, but it got silly around 4pm with no chairs left and limited drinks. I still pop in for a coffee throughout the day (when the machine is working) and also for some nibbles late afternoon and even breakfast too.

My recent experience is that they are not making you sign for your voucher drinks.  Not once, on Wonder or Grandeur did they provide us with a receipt.

Weird  I had to sign a few times on the Wonder.  Casino, Pub CK and Lime and Coconut.  Just looked at my statement.  I even usually had my cash tip out but when they made me sign I just added the tip onto that

They made you sign in the casino ??  THAT is really unusual.

I tell them as well as check our accounts when we both order a drink, because sometimes they charge one card for the two drinks. And although they say that you’ll sign for the drink and see your balance on the receipt , we have only had to sign a few times, so we keep track.

We were just on the Serenade and did not have to sign nor did we receive a printed receipt.

We will be on the Serenade in a couple weeks.  This is off topic,...... but can you tell me if they have soap, shampoo and a separate conditioner in the bathroom?   Or is if just a hair and body wash combination?

Thanks

We were in a suite and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash were separate. I can't speak to what's available in other than suite cabins. My husband isn't into the fancy soaps and shampoos and I have allergies, so we always bring our own products.

This is off topic too, but this was our first time on Serenade and I'd read some negative comments before the cruise so we were a little concerned. We were very pleased with the ship and wouldn't hesitant to cruise on her again. We had a great time.

Ours has been hit or miss until our recent b2b on the Jewel. Every single time we had to sign. When I was sick on the ship Mike would get a six pack of water for me. Instead of one receipt to sign it was multiple receipts. Same with two diet Cokes, had to sign two. What a pain.

Thanks for the comments.  We have been wondering if we should have stuck with Celebrity, but we liked her itinerary better.

From only one cleaning a day, still waiting in long lines at dinner EVEN with reservations, poor food choices and quality, the list seems to go on and on.  We were on her years ago and loved it.  Looking forward to some cooler weather and the fall colors.

We are frequent Celebrity cruisers also but we prefer suites and while the Celebrity suite experience is great, the prices are not. Royal doesn't offer much for suites on the smaller ships but we feel that it's good for the price. The food in the MDR was better than expected. The meals we had in Chops and Giovanni's were outstanding. We are Floridians also and completely understand your desire for some cooler weather!
