bww306195 Posted October 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2023 Assuming you don't care about prizes and simply want to play quietly in the back without being eligible to "win", does Carnival frown on cruisers bringing their own bingo cards just to play along? Elaine5715 Posted October 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2023 Can't say I have ever seen such a thing. I would guess they wouldn't care as long as you were clearly not winning.

d9704011 Posted October 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2023 I've never played but have seen the venue where they hold some bingos and it seems to be 'access controlled'. I think they'd prefer to have the bingo-just-for-fun crowd find something else to do for an hour or two.

There are some people who are just watching the game, so I don't think you'll have any issue.

Rare Essiesmom Posted October 17, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2023 I think it will be okay, as long as you are not playing for cash. If you wa t prizes, maybe cheap, silly things from a dollar store. Particularly if you are a family or group that includes minor children who would not be allowed to play the bingo offered onboard. Rare starstruck05 Posted October 17, 2023 #16 Share Posted October 17, 2023 I go watch Bingo all the time. I don't usually play anymore. Usually Bingo is before another event I'm there for but sometimes I just like watching. Same with Deal or no deal. No one will notice or care if you bring your own cards just don't forget you aren't really playing and yell "Bingo" lol! 1
mz-s Posted October 17, 2023 #17 Share Posted October 17, 2023 The bingo callers do a good job of making it interesting. There are worse ways to spend an hour on the ship, that's for sure. 2

Itried4498 Posted October 18, 2023 #19 Share Posted October 18, 2023 Wow, what a way to make a new user feel foolish. @bww306195 - there's absolutely nothing wrong with bringing your own Bingo cards and enjoying the game. The Bingo games are typically held in the main theater these days, many times shortly before scheduled entertainment. ANYBODY is welcome to come, you certainly don't have to buy a Bingo card. I've sat through many Bingo sessions without playing for a variety of reasons. Many of the presenters are really darn good at keeping people entertained.

I have entered the theater while Bingo was happening and noticed a large number of folks who aren't playing. They could be there for the same reason that I am- to get a seat for the next event that is scheduled. As mentioned they have drink waiters making the rounds, it is relatively quiet and isn't a bad way to just sit and relax while chatting with your cruise mates, either. I doubt that Bingo watching would ever replace Quest, but as mentioned some folks like to pass the time doing that.
Rare nancy1031 Posted October 18, 2023 #21 Share Posted October 18, 2023 i never realized how popular bingo was til 1978 when we started it at my church- got a crowd of 200 every sun and mon - had a mortgage payment of $9,000 per monh to pay and trust me bingo paid very well as we paid the church off in 5 years- same for the hall that we built- will i play bingo- most likely never- but it sure helps pay the bills- my parents were big time workers at bingo- they opened & closed - were callers, took care olf the payouts- they did it for 20 yrs (felt like an orphan on sundays!) and made alot of nice people-
Itried4498 Posted October 18, 2023 #22 Share Posted October 18, 2023 Bingo’s popularity has waned. It exited most Las Vegas Strip casinos two decades ago and has been quickly disappearing from the surrounding casinos that catered toward senior locals. Nor is it played as often on cruises. My grandparents took me on my first cruise in 1986 when I was four and left me by the pool all day while they played Bingo (they weren’t casino players). My how times have changed…
