Well as this was on my CVP page, guess we have clarification that a new app is indeed coming.

I'm wondering if you can keep the old app for a while after downloading the new one to make sure it's working.  Especially if you have a cruise this December or January.

Yes.  It states it will no longer work after February.

Oh man.  We board December 2nd.  No way am I trying something new at this point.  I can only hope that Princess learned their lesson from the Medallion app and tested the heck out of this before releasing it.  Well I can dream can't I?

"Dine My Way" will now become "Reservations".

Then they need to change "Reserve Club Class/Reserve CC Dining".

I have witnesses SOOOOOOO many passengers who line up the the "Reserve Dining Room" and are disappointed to be turned away as it is NOT MDR for those with reservations, but MDR for Club Class (now Reserve CC).  There is a small sign outside that says "Reserve Dining".

The host/hostess and sometimes the Assistant Manager calmly escort diners to the "other" door.

"AND SOME OF THE TERMS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED".  Princess really needs to hire an English teacher.

We understand that. But what @avonlady6390 is asking is whether you can run them side-by-side to verify the function properly. I would also like to know this as the wife & I will be cruising on the Caribbean Princess on December 10th.

I don't see why not.  These are 2 completely different apps.  And Princess states that they are supporting the Medallion Class app until the end of February.  So functionally you should be able to use both apps.

I believe it says some terms have been "updated".  Not upgraded.

Agree, and I hope they’ve also tested it for B2B cruisers, and have enabled one or more of the B2B cruises to be cancelled without throwing the whole reservation into chaos and requiring an hours long phone call to fix. There are a lot of cruisers doing B2B Caribbean cruises after the first of the year, and most of the problems we had with the existing app related to making changes to reservations.

Actually, they should have given the beta to @Steelers36 to try to break. If it passed his scrutiny, I’d be 100% convinced it works.

Your post reminds me of a thought I had when the Sun Princess was announced -- Horizons Dining Room is brilliant for a name of a dining room spanning the aft, but...why oh why is Horizon Court and Horizon Bistro still a thing then within the fleet? Why is the transition to World Fresh Marketplace taking so long? (The transition was very unnecessary anyways).

Your point about the signage mess (with no obvious guidance from corporate) also makes me feel so much cringe on behalf of the crew.

We were both on the third cruise after the restart and had to suffer through the new app.  I remember taking screen shots of errors I was getting, sending them to their team, then getting a response back we think we fixed it please try again and let us know.  Did a few rounds of that before we boarded.  I just worry that it took them a very long time after that to get the app to be mostly usable and now they are starting from scratch.  Hopefully they can get it to work on both iPhones and Android phones and it doesn't behave differently based on what version of those phones you have.

I will be on board the Discovery Dec 1. Dare I try the new app mid-cruise?  The current app has behaved quite nicely for me, not sure if I want to chance it!

If they will allow both to run side by side, I'd run them simultaneously and try them both. If not, stick with the devil you know.

I absolutely will not be downloading the new app before our 12/4 cruise. I had to threaten my husband with grave consequences if he tries to do so. My DH is that guy who downloads updates to anything the second they are available, often experiencing a good deal of frustration when the latest and greatest version still needs some bugs worked out. In this case, it seems like a particularly bad idea to immediately switch to the new app just before a cruise given the numerous problems reported with the Medallion app. We have been lucky and our problems with the Medallion app have been pretty minor so far. If it ain't broke (too badly)' don't fix it. We will watch to see what happens and will happily enjoy our cruise using the old app. Always assuming of course that my DH doesn't give in to the lure of the new app. Aaarrrggghh.

We have a cruise coming up soon and the current app is working so unless I have to switch I am sticking with what I have finally figured out.

Thanks...that's what I meant to type (updated).  It was hard for me to go back and forth.  I should have taken a screen shot and used it to directly quote.  Thank you for your catch.
