mike45orlando Posted March 5 #51 Share Posted March 5 (edited) Several million cruise passengers a year, I would put their record up against any hotel chain or theme park in protecting the customer from deviants. It's possible the guests would come in and take a long nap, trapping him for hours. And what if an angry father or husband caught him? - While this guy is a serious weirdo and creep and deserves what's coming to him -- firing, for starters, I'm not getting worked up over it. He's one idiot; let's not make assumptions about the other crew members. If it’s anything like horror movies, there would be a trap door underneath the bed he could use to enter and escape from.

You send them without another thought about it. No parent should have to worry about a person hiding in there room much less a cruise line employee. its just sad. Yes its just another thing to worry about. If it happens once it can happen again.I am serious about checking under the bed and sink each time we enter the cabin. We will be boarding in two weeks. Many from some other threads who just automatically think that kids ( young kids ) are SOOOO safe on a ship and that nothing could ever happen to them , therefore they should have total "Big Kid" freedom , need to read stories like this and take note . Jetdriver787 Posted March 6 #57 Share Posted March 6 Will they hide under my bed twice, if I’m in a junior suite or higher? 🤷♂️
Rare Thisguylikestocruise Posted March 6 #58 Share Posted March 6 Noticed on my recent cruise there’s a lot of parents that let kids roam around unsupervised. They need to realize it’s not a daycare where everyone gets background checks, there’s thousands of strangers onboard. Parents normally wouldn’t let small children walk alone in a city, so why do they trust a cruise ship so much.

You really don't think this is - or ever was - a widespread ongoing issue at this point, do you? And with the attention that has been focused on it, that the cruise line would continue to allow it to happen? It was RCI who turned him into the police and immediately terminated him. RCI stated they have zero tolerance and are fully cooperating with the authorities. They discovered this during an inspection.
iuki Posted March 6 #61 Share Posted March 6 Although it’s hard to imagine anyone small enough to fit under the bed, the crew member is from the Philippines, and most Filipinos are of small stature. Since most of the information was provided by the person being charged, he could have embellished his statements “to brag”, thinking it makes him look smart. Remember, we’re dealing with a sick twisted mind.
Kbonner Posted March 6 #62 Share Posted March 6 As compensation for the crew related crime on board, Royal Caribbean promises to deliver better food quality, go back to twice a day cabin cleaning and also promise to sell cruises for more reasonable fares

Keeping their liability down - if they didn't report him instantly, their possible civil damages could have been epic.. Once the police have all the victims identified, RCCL will be paying out the nose anyway to each of the victim's families to avoid the inevitable civil suit. This one, b/c RCCL is the actual employer and it happened on their watch, will be pricey.
