For the money it costs to go to the beach on a cruise, I can just sit by the pool on the empty ship.

Only ever costs us cab fare.  Never book through the ship. Never have to.  And Cockleshell Bay Beach in particular has ridiculously inexpensive beverages to help pass the day.

Either Trunk Bay St John or MSC's private out island

I am looking forward to going to MSc private island again at end of the year , I was there when it first opened.

From a cruise standpoint, you can’t beat the private “islands.” If I can only pick one, Disney’s Castaway Cay.

I would add RCCL CocoCay, but years ago pre-waterpark commercialization conversion when it truly seemed like a desert island.  First time there 1992 and very undeveloped. Now, not so much.

My favourite doesn't exist anymore.

Called Salomon Beach, it was a small, intimate cove, only reachable by land over a rocky footpath and a 20 minute walk (hike!) from the ferry dock at Cruz Bay, St John, USVI.

I can disclose it now, because a hurricane replaced all that lovely sand beach with stones and boulders - which we found to our dismay the last time we went there.

The good news is that Honeymoon Beach, next bay over is still in decent shape and can also be reached by road; the day-trip catamarans often anchor there. A friend said that it was the best beach she'd ever been on - but then she didn't get to sample the secluded Salomon Beach...

Zihuatanejo. Mexico. Little place right on the Pacific. You know what the Mexicans say about the Pacific? They say it has no memory. That's where I'd like to finish out my beach trip. A warm place with no memory.
