I don’t recall ever reading that Celebrity has a curfew. Is there a note in the cruise planner than outdoor music ends at a certain time?

Its funny I watched a video talking yesterday about Celebrity's downfall is lack of night life after 10:45pm lol

On one of our EDGE cruises we were in an SV..mid deck 7...Bass and music from EDEN  was boom boom late hrs..heard in bthrm hall area..Not terrible but disruptive of sleep..now we have earplugs. And our next SV is on 8..

we rise early.. everyday...enjoy the evening shows and music and rarely go to the late parties...unless its a special event! I think sizzle/ sparkle has replaced the White Night...???

It is the dirty secret of Aqua that they are in the worst locations.  It is pretty selfish that 1500 people want to sleep when 100 people are trying to have a party.

Not sure about E class but on M Class the Movies play late and that is one of the biggest complaints about Aqua on M class. Unless you get one of the few good Aqua staterooms on M you are pretty much guaranteed a noisy voyage.

I can't wait to complete my surveys with "I'm now in the old farts club". 😂

Thanks!  😄

Alas...it is not a very unique club.  Myself, being born in the middle of the baby boomer era...there are a lot of us out there now.  😉

Not a downfall for me....I am in bed by that time. 😉

I am getting the sleep I need to enjoy the next day,  early enough to be ahead of the crowds still straggling into the buffet at 10 am, while I am already off into port enjoying another adventure.

The OP stated that their cabin was on deck 9. The Pool deck party was on deck 14. Even without a "deck 13," they were disturbed by the booming bass from the party. That noise must have been ridiculously loud to travel through 4 decks.

IMO, just because it all ended at midnight, the noise level would still be problematic for many of us. Especially if the cabin was carefully chosen to be well away from the open decks. Some of us get up early and turn in early. I'm with the OP on this one ... I'd be angry too.

we had a similar experience several years ago on the hal rotterdam...The bass from the night club was so loud in our standard  veranda cabin that we could feel it through the walls two floors above the club..In our case, we were not offered ear plugs, but rather they sent a customer service rep up to the room to check out the problem and within an hour we were move to a higher level suite for no upcharge...Now that is what i call great customer service....needless to say, we gifted the service rep...

Good news everyone.  Celebrity has come to the rescue!  You want to party til 1am and wake up at 9?  Well Celebrity is having another pool party at 6am for the early risers.  You know, 90% of the passengers.  BOOM BOOM!  I hope you enjoy it.  😂

I think we all have to board a cruise ship with a degree of tolerance that some activities will not be for us and may reduce for short periods our pleasure (pool being used for volley ball, Solarium open for family time). I won’t be involved in either but I am glad they are happening for those who will enjoy.

There has to be a balance of activities that offer something for everyone. Unfortunately they will have an impact to some degree on other cruises but sharing a floating home requires tolerance…

COMPLETELY agree.

But what would happen to Cruise Critic if everyone suddenly became tolerant and reasonable?

😂😂😂😂😂

Usually the definition of tolerance is “you have to tolerate my rude behavior”.

If my husband a I (two men) eat at a restaurant quietly, do you and the staff have to be tolerant?  If I get on speakerphone at full volume while eating dinner and start describing my cruise to my sister and her kids, do you still have to be tolerant?

EDIT:  OMG you want to do something different than me that DOESN'T bother other people?  That’s nice.  But why do I care?

If I had known about Cruise Critic before my first ever cruise (didn't really want to go...)

I NEVER would have gone on it, I thank the good Lord I knew nothing about CC at the time.

I shared an experience I had on a recent Beyond cruise I was on, and a CC troll basically called me a liar, that my experience was not true...

Can't wait for my March Beyond Cruise!!!!! 🥂

I remember reading reviews before our first Celebrity cruise and felt a bit bewildered about some of the contrary comments. Thank goodness we both still cruised!

I am ok with the parties. It’s a vacation, people should be having fun. I figure there will be plenty of quiet for me when I’m in the morgue.

Just spilt my coffee laughing! You certainly put the conversation into it’s rightful place…

I am OK with spending money on cruises too, there are no pockets in shrouds…

lol my husband says he'll sleep when he's dead 😆

btw I love sleep and I am normally in bed early as I am up at 5am to workout but not when on holiday. My late is still earlier than some people but I don't expect parties not to happen.

One thing with music/sound as we have a 7.1 surround sound with a massive subwoofer - the bass carries. Often I'm upstairs at home and telling my husband to turn down the subwoofer because the bass carries - he doesn't hear it yet upstairs things are shaking 😅

I'm in bed well before 11 so I would also be bothered by this. If you can hear it on the 9th floor from the 13th, that is really loud.  I also personally hate the way a heavy bass sounds, even with earplugs, it creates a vibration that bothers me.  So, I agree with OP.

And this is the key right here.  If one wants to be completely insulated from the noise of ship activities they must scour the deck plans for a location that will best meet that criteria.  Celebrity Retreat does not have a suites only enclave like NCL or MSC so you can book the retreat and still have relative control of your stateroom location.

Relative control of your stateroom location in a suite definitely varies by class of ship and type of cabin.  On some S class, unless you book an Aqua Sky Suite, you may not have pool music but instead you have carts rolling above you in the buffet from around 4 am on, all dang day long!  Very frustrating!

I am less worried about the one off noisy pool party at night than I am about the continued marketing of 3 and 4 night cruises.  Those definitely bring a different crowd, generally one more prone to drinking and partying until all hours, inside and on deck.  I avoid those sailings at all cost, especially the week-end ones.  I just hope the people who book those don't get the idea that those experiences are like the typical 7+ night itineraries and start booking those expecting the same.  So many things lately have really changed onboard as it is and Celebrity, while I still enjoy it, is definitely not the Celebrity of old. (And please, spare me the comments about change with the times, change is good blah, blah, blah.  Sometime change is good, and sometimes it isn't.  When you love something and it adversely changes for the worst, I can't define that as good.)

I see those 3 and 4 night cruises as a good thing.  I have to fly to a port so won't cruise with less than 7 days and personally prefer 10+ days.  The cheap 3 and 4 nighters give the partyers an option. Hopefully making it less likely that they will book the 7+ day cruise.

One reason some folks go to bed early is they know from experience that they need a certain amount of sleep.  Yes even at 57.  Partying until 1 am is great on a sea day.  Not so great if your excursion is at 7:30 am.  And no thanks.  I’ve already tried Viking.

Now, I would be a lot more enthusiastic about these parties if I knew they would play Taylor Swift all night.  But that will never happen.  😭

....We were told it was a ‘one off’ but I’m beginning to wonder, is this the way Celebrity are going? Parties on the pool deck at all hours? If someone had their TV/music turned up that high, they would have been asked to turn it down and consider other guests - guest relations just offered us some earplugs!

Has anyone else experienced this recently on a Celebrity ship? Would anyone else feel upset, as we were, if this happened to you?

I heard lound booming music coming from the pool deck around 10:30 on Apex. Was a white night party and we were in a Magic Carpet Suite on deck 11 (usually very quiet). I doubt this is a "one off" as these parties tend to cater to a younger crowd and run until midnight. I just went down to the casino until the music stopped. My sister slept right through the noise.

Prior to the changes they had plenty of options- Royal,  Carnival,  NCL to name a few. Now they're getting a taste of Celebrity. I can't see any good coming from that.

I just returned from the Celebrity Reflection. I was in Aqua Class midship deck 11.  They had a late night sparkle party. I did not hear any noise or music inside my room. However when I went out on the balcony I could hear music  playing. It would only have been disruptive if I decided I wanted to sleep on my balcony. Since the chairs were zip tied so that they couldn't recline that wasn't going to happen. This was a 4 day cruise in the Caribbean which tends to be more festive it was nothing out of the ordinary. We weren't disturbed and I wouldn't describe this sailing as a party or booze cruise.
