On some lines you get discounts when staying in a suite or coupon books.

I am particulary interested in if you get an internet discount. I understand it is free in the Neptune lounge but we are going to be on the 4th deck & that it a ways to hike every time I want to check something.

thanks

INTERNET ALERT - it is NOT free in the Neptune Lounge. It is just available and there is usually a laptop there to use. No free internet sorry.

You might get a coupon booklet but there's no rhyme on reason on why you get one sometimes and I don't think it has anything to do with being in a Neptune Suite.

Sorry, but whether you use the internet in the Neptune Lounge or in you suite, the charge will be the same.

No discounts for being in a Neptune Suite.

We have gotten those coupon books -- you need to BIG dollars to get a little something free. I will look and see if I still a copy of the coupon book.

If you are a 5 star Mariner you get 100 minutes of Internet at half price.

On the laptop in the Neptune Lounge you can log onto the New York Times paper for free.

Currently, the Explore Package includes a $200 internet credit for suite passengers. Unless you want the rest of the package, it might be cheaper just to pay for the internet. I know I would prefer $200 OBC instead of the internet credit.

Just off a Grand Suite on Royal Caribbean....that is the lowest category of their suites.

You get FREE internet for the entire cruise

Also a suite lounge access with free wine & beer from 11am until 11pm

and a specialty restaurant for all meals. Hard drinks free in the evening.

Price cheaper than Holland regular prices.

Have not done Holland for many years but remember it as very nice.

This cruise convenient for us because we live on the west coast & got an unbelievable deal. Just sorry to see that you do not seem to get much for having a suite.

I agree that it would be great if Neptune and Pinnacle suite guests would get free internet but I think you will find that just having the Neptune Lounge gives HAL's suites a HUGE advantage over the competition. You just don't appreciate until you experience how great it is NEVER to have to go to the front desk! To have two lovely concierge crew members who are willing to do just about anything for you and with a smile! The lounge now does offer alcoholic drinks, BTW. Also, Neptune suite guests get free laundry, pressing, and dry cleaning throughout the cruise - a perk I think is worth it's weight in gold! (and if you have a lot of laundry.. that's a lot LOL) I think you are going to LOVE the Neptune suite and all it does provide for you, although, again, I agree about internet.

I do not think you have that option (I would take it as well!).

You should price your cruise with and without the Explore4 package - the difference might surprise you!

I discussed that the PCC and I know I do not have that option. Although, the PCC said I could ask once aboard. She has heard mixed stories on how successful those requests have been.

I have two cruises booked. I priced both with and without. I've got $plore4 on one and not on the other. Wide variance in pricing. Still I would prefer $100 or even $20 OBC to $200 internet credit which is basically worthless to me.

Not really. On Royal when you book a suite you also get access to a suite lounge with concierge service AND free adult beverages in the evening.

And now people will tell me that Royal is not a competitor for HAL, well I don't agree.

We booked a suite on Oasis of the Seas. We were so unimpressed, that once we were home, we cancelled a cruise (in a grand suite) on Allure and booked a Holland cruise. Best decision we ever made.

Has the suite lounge and dining been extended across the Royal fleet. When we cruised royal last year it was only on Oasis Class ships.

My understanding is that suites on HAL give you access to concierges and a lounge but not free drinks. If a few free drinks in the evening is the deal breaker, I guess Royal is the answer. :)

You MIGHT get lucky and they credit $200 in OBC to your account to pay for the Internet fee. This happened to me once when I had a credit/gift from HAL for a massage - they credited my account $125 upfront and then when I had the massage my account was billed for the $125. Hard to tell upfront if this will happen to you though.

I agree. On our first HAL cruise in August, we really appreciated having unlimited free laundry perk for our 14 day Alaska cruise. The only other cruise line we have been on that has this perk for suite guests is Princess.

We cruise in GS or OS on Royal Caribbean and love their suite perks, but I have to say the great customer service given us by all the staff we encountered during our HAL cruise was outstanding. They gave us the Royal Treatment. Sorry couldn't resist. :D Seriously, the two concierge staff members in the Neptune Lounge were the friendliest I've ever met!

We were very impressed with our HAL cruise and will definitely book another HAL cruise in the future. My wife especially liked the size of the Maadam.

Only passengers sailing in Neptune and Pinnacle suites have access to the Neptune Lounge and personalized concierge service. Passengers in Signature Suites and Vista Suites do not have access to the lounge but can avail of telephone concierge service.

Interesting, that was not our experience last June, hopefully the concierge staff in December will quickly change our opinion :)

Consider a person that lives in a $500,000 home on a street where all the other homes cost $100,000. Do you think they will get a discount in their property taxes, utilities, etc? In fact, some service providers will likely charge them more..just because they live in that expensive home. And its no different on HAL. If you book a suite HAL will "reward you" by charging you a higher daily gratuity fee. And yes, you will get good customer service....because staff figures you will tip them well (because you are in the expensive suite) :). So what do you get for all that extra money? A larger cabin and access to the Neptune Lounge. What is interesting is that your Neptune Suite will have a nice outdoor balcony. But when you go to the Neptune Lounge you are stuck in an inside venue (with no view) where they often draw the curtains! When we booked the Grand Med cruise (Prinsendam) we were offered a good upsell deal for a Neptune Suite and I asked DW if she was interested. She quickly said no (although we did take a less costly upsell to a Signature Suite) because of some basic logic. We do not spend a lot of waking time in our cabin...preferring to be out and about on the ship. She reasoned that if we had an expensive Neptune Suite she would feel some obligation to spend time in the spacious cabin (how boring and lonely) rather then being out and socializing. And when sleeping, she figured that the large cabin was meaningless :). So she calculated that we generally spend no more then 3 waking hours a day in our cabin...and given the extra cost of a Neptune suite the waking cost per hour was ridiculous! And that, is one reason why I love that woman :).
