  1. A portion of the space was occupied with the enlargement of the funnel due to the scrubber installation in 2020.
  2. I see this a lot on web forums. People that don't understand how following a post works or don't know that they'll get notifications for threads they started will do this to make it easier to find their topics.
  3. Having been to Teotihuacan I was kind of looking forward to Chichen Itza, then I read the description - 6+ hour excursion and only 60-90 minutes actually at the ruins. It's not close to the port, AT ALL. I decided I didn't want that at the price they wanted me to pay and moved on with other plans.
  4. I did this one on the Joy this year, but we missed Costa Maya. I liked it, just be sure to book an excursion in Roatan or you can't go anywhere except the shopping area at the end of the pier. Loved the ship, there's a nice inexpensive tour in Cozumel (an NCL excursion), Harvest Cay was nice. I'm looking at this one for next year, on the Escape. I haven't been to any of those ports yet but I hear good things about them.
  5. As you're adding filters for cruises you get a "more filters" option. If you click that one of the extra filters is 'solo cruiser discount'. The option is greyed out if you have more than one passenger selected (which is also under 'more filters'). Selecting only one passenger also unlocks the option to look at the pricing for Studio cabins (if available on the ship).
  6. You can get a good Rueben and some really good burgers at The Local. Some would argue the best burgers on the ship (American Diner included, possibly). It's the closest thing to 24/7. In fact - the daily from my cruise on the Joy (nearly identical ship to the Bliss) this past March indicates it's always open. They may close it for 30-60 minutes to switch menus between meal types.

    NCL Flights

I used the reduced airfare promotion in 2019, for my October cruise on NCL. While I didn't have the BEST flights, I knew what to expect (based on reading here, reading the terms of the promo AND having done self-booked flights for a similar cruise earlier in the year) and got pretty much what I expected. Depending on the airline you might be able to select your seats within the parameters of the booked fare (I was able to on American and Delta), checked bags are on you and it even says that in the promo terms. https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions Anything consumed above the promotional benefit will be the responsibility of the guest at prevailing rates.
  8. Someone else had a cruise ending in Quebec and got flights home from Montreal. Yes, the "flights" you see are only placeholders, the BOGO flights aren't booked until 30 days before your cruise (it now even says that when booking a cruise with the BOGO flights). Based on the two people posting concerns over this, I have to wonder if air schedules just don't line up to book people through Quebec. Here's the other thread - I commented in that thread, there's a rail option to get between Montreal and Quebec.
  9. Re-read the post I quoted. The way I read that post was that the person was referring to people sailing in the days before the earnings call being upset that they were forced to do the testing process only because NCL decided to hold off a few extra days until the (now delayed) earnings call. My point was that no matter when the protocol is changed (IF it's changed), some group is going to say "why couldn't it have been changed a few days sooner and include my sailing if they knew they were going to make the change".
  10. How do you think people traveling between when RCI and Carnival made their announcement and when it took effect felt/feel? Point is - there's always SOMEONE right on the edge between testing or not that is going to be upset that they had to when people the following day don't need to.
  11. I believe the earnings calls are where Royal and Carnival announced their changes, I also suspect NCL will use that call to make that announcement.
  12. Because it's a surge protector. A standard non-surge power strip device would not have had plugs for the phone/modem on it. Surge protectors ARE NOT ALLOWED, full-stop. I do ALL of my mobile device charging using an Anker PowerPort station, four USB-A ports, one USB-C. I've been on 4 cruises with it, never had it taken, and it uses ONE outlet. I hesitate to use provided USB outlets in at least public spaces. Yes they should be innocuous, but do you REALLY know what the other end is connected to?
  13. Yes, all the BA+ ships have the Waterfront. Actually, BA and GA have it also, don't they? I love that space, it's where I'd go for some pseudo-balcony time if I didn't book a balcony...
  14. If you don't use any of your free minutes (don't even activate them, when you do that is when you get the upgrade offer) you can trade them in any time before day 3 and get a credit toward the paid package for one device. The credit on board may be the same as you're seeing now but if you can wait the couple extra hours until day 2 you can avoid paying for the internet for that extra day where you'd get less than half a day of use at the same price as a full day. I think you'd end up saving around $10 on the unlimited (non-streaming) but only getting one device online at a time.
  15. OK, there are 4 of those. Escape - Ropes course, Spice H20 for adults, no observation lounge, no go-karts, Studio area for solo travelers Bliss - Studio area, Spice, Observation lounge, Go-karts, no ropes course, sealed-off smoking section in the casino Joy - No Studios (the Family inside Concierge section replaced them), Observation Lounge, go-karts, Spice H20, sealed-off smoking section in the casino Encore - Same as Bliss except no Spice H20 I love the OL on the Bliss and Joy, like the option of the adults-only Spice H20 and like the option of the Studio cabins (as a solo traveler) so my pick would be the Bliss, but I'm willing to give the Escape a try. I enjoyed the Joy also but I'd have to go balcony or inside double-occupancy. What's important to you?
  16. There are two types of specialty restaurants - those with a cover charge and those that are a-la-carte. The ones with prices on the menu don't have a cover charge. See above
  17. I had a feeling there was a "blind spot", and had a comment about that in my first reply but I think I removed it as I wasn't sure of the accuracy of such a comment. Thanks for verifying my thoughts.
  18. The excursion credit requires that you book an NCL excursion from the ship, this comment doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
  19. Considering Prima was signed over to NCL on Friday it certainly has. The next ship in that class is likely to float out of the dry dock as soon as Prima leaves the berth she's in, and has also been open for booking.
  20. YIKES! The theater can only hold 752 people?! They better offer the shows on more than 2 nights, that's smaller than the Breakaway+ ships, though I do recognize that Prima has a slightly lower capacity than those ships. Something else I haven't noticed mentioned or seen in pictures - is there a walled-off smoking area in the casino as there is on the Bliss, Joy and Encore?
  21. Something to consider - for some reason NCL only opens a portion of the reservations before the cruise. The rest open on embarkation day. Make an effort to get that done as soon as you board.
  22. Things are likely to change 6 times between now and then. If finding a testing location is a problem, why not use the proctored at-home tests from eMed, if you still need to test? You don't have to take it AT HOME, you can do it wherever you have an internet connection.
  23. My point was (and I should have included this) that I HAVE seen a post on here that someone utilized the promo and got different deviations for people on the same reservation, one person in the room wanted to stay a couple days longer than the other in their room for a "girl's weekend" with someone in another cabin. NCL DID accommodate that, which is only a step away from booking different gateway cities for both people in the room. Doing either would require a call.
