  1. Ships in Australia are sailing full today. Book now if you are in the US and cancell or rebook if the price drops. If sailing with UK friends their rules are different so either use your US address or whatever you prefer.
  2. I use a TA who checks periodically. We book another cruise and cancel if one opens up. Lots easier for them to do it. Depending on the cruise can you change the date?
  3. Hmmmm. Drove a fishing boat and there is little difference if you are going to do a land tour. Many things not open in either May or September. Just more daylight in May. If I were to go back I would do a week long land tour on my own. ANC to Denali and Fairbanks then loop through Glenallen back to ANC. Late May or early September. That is the best part. Then cruise south. FWIW, There is little in Whittier and Seward is wonderful and worth 2 nights. Kenai Fjords tour better than anything offered in the ports; thus I usually cruise Celebrity out of Seward.
  4. Definitely suggest going to the Princess website where you can see every venue on your ship from restaurants to shops to pools along with deck plans.
  5. The restaurants vary as said. Anything from an all you can eat or a Chefs Table that could be $95 or more to a sushi bar where things are a la carte. The 18-20% gratuity added is pretty much the norm today. To literaanswer your question a "cover charge" pays for your meal or cover.
  6. Suggest you check out the ports forum and your roll call. Any tour operator doing snorkeling will supply fins, mask and vest. Sometimes they are not the best.
  7. I would go back and see what you checked that caused the health check. We did not require a health check just a couple questions on the website.
  8. Lots of threads on this. Pending means exactly that. Patience. Very few MoveUps as said, but always a few last minute cancelations
  9. Arive early? Possible. Disembarking early? Not likely but possible. Would depend if port authorities open early and your prior port as they could possibly clear your ship (we had multipleports in the Azores). Lots of what ifs. Thus . . . . Do you go to casinos? This would be better odds than playing the slot machines but definitely worse than playing blackjack. My question would be: Is the tour refundable if your ship is delayed or misses the port (we have missed one port on each of our last 5 cruises)? If not I would look elsewhere.. You need to decide what works for you.
  10. This was debated at length last year. For a short time the corkage fee was mentioned as being charged. To my knowledge it has not been in place for some many months.
  11. Glad you were able to sort things out. As one who has organized tours for some 25 years I always suggest it is lotsxfaster and less stressful to sort things after boarding. Book if available and cancel if it doesn't work out. I also absolutely suggest booking direct. An internet search will usually find a couple alternatives that are cheaper. Just make sure the operator will refund if the port is cancelled or if weather cancels the tour. A rain check is not much good to a cruise passenger.
  12. Don't laugh. Best two tours for Eagles would be on your own. In Ketchikan take the city bus to the Totem village. Cost is a couple dollars. The best place to find Eagles is near piers where people are cleaning their catch or town dumps. Eagles are scavengers and as said can be found everywhere.
  13. Two suggestions. Look at a deck plan. Think Ocean view - a large port hole/window are getting confused with Infinate Veranda cabins. The window opens. Suggest you look at the cabin sticky above. Cabins port and starboard in a similar location will be the same as will any of the Beyond and her sister ships. As for cabins far forward. Did an Antarctic cruise in the most forward cabin on the lowest deck. It was just fine.
  14. Several volunteers we know willing to go. Just don't wait until the last minute as any changes can get fouled up.
  15. Cabin attendants can usually get you "slippers". They are one size fits all. From my grandson with size 15 to DW with ladies 6 Worthless IMO. We simply bring a pair of sandals. Must more satisfactory for going to the pool or ocean view
  16. The ports forum, your roll call and an internet search would be the best place to ask your question.
  17. You could be too far out. FWIW I give the app 2 tries for checking in and then call Princess. They will manually fill in the stuff. Have also just gone to the pier. Things like the contract where you need to scroll to the absolute bottom of a multi page document, then hit the "read" button are often a challenge.
  18. Depending on the fare code - you probably never saw it - selecting seats can and often does require ticketing. You possibly are not aware of all the things that caused.
  19. The couple in Australia in 2022 were actually denied boarding because of a passport issue. In 2023 several couples were denied boarding on a short cruise. Cost $595 for a 3/4 night cruise. A couple imoortant facts - Australian rules are very different and the people were offered $100OBC and a 25% reduction OR a free 7 to 9 day cruise before the cruise. Those involved said they did not receive the email offer - certainly possible offer was not opened. I was not able to find other instances of denied boarding. Would not be concerned about denied boarding. In the US the cruiseline would be liable for damages and millions of passengers without a gty cabin issue. Offer me a free cruise and I live near the port, happy to move a week or two.
  20. The rules for Australia are different from the rest of the World. I would guess it would be the same as Celebrity which took 3 weeks on a Australian cruise precovid. PS agree with you. Should have been almost instant and automatic.
  21. Have called to cancel and all completed in 5 minutes. Nothing discussed. Was offered the opportunity to move my deposit. Said no thank you. Nothing else suggested by CSR.
  22. The regular balconies sell out rapidly on Apex because there are VERY few of them. While my DW and I did not like the infinite veranda but the wall of glass did not feel closed in. On our 14 day TA the window was locked closed all but 2 sea days. Windy and rolling 5' seas. Others reported never locked closed at all.
  23. Tried Apex, will not do that again. Summit much better. Perfect size and great facility layout.
  24. Think we can form an entire choir. When possible I book on board and have my booking immediately transferred to my TA. Some years ago I got a "I gonna get this fixed attitude" and spent hours on the phone with X. No more. Not now. Now ever again. If there is a problem with my reservation I call my TA, not a big box company, and they handle it. If they have difficulty fixing things an email to the executive office takes just a few minutes to write and gets a response within about 3 business days. My wife said several unkind things to me when I spent all those hours fixing things. I also kept the direct number of a person in Miami who handled the first big glitch concerning bad info on the X website. We talk occasionally. The other key is remembering that except for missing points the CC rep cannot help.
  25. Weather in the UK and Dublin is generally cool with a bit of foggy mornings. We saw 50s and 60 at sea. On land a jacket, sweater and a waterproof jacket will be all you need.
