  1. Not really a fan of tying points to amount spent but even that would come down to what you Paid for the cruise (and possibly onboard spending to some degree) but those free offers are not a reflection of what you have given the cruise line. According to these boards many who got free offers never spent a dime in the casino. It also wouldn’t automatically be more points for a balcony than an inside since some people score a balcony for less than others pay for an inside cabin. I don’t really care since I will never get past gold anyway.
  2. Maybe they should enforce it by calling the parents to come to security and retrieve their kids. Get them out of bed (or wherever) and if it takes more than 15 minutes for them to get there, impose a fine.
  3. What about the recent rash of free casino (and other) cruise offers. Should those folk who cruise basically free on multiple cruises per year receive the same points as someone who paid for a balcony or suite?
  4. I’m wondering why the OP posted in the first place. They had absolutely no information and did not ask one question so what was the motive to post without information. Maybe the woman in tears actually had a bad experience or maybe she was a good actor. They don’t know. Or as stated by another, maybe they misunderstood. I can’t imagine making a post with so little to say. But I see they are a prolific poster so maybe this happens a lot. Many people either like to be the first to post something or just like to stir things up.
  5. Use the Hub App for texting. Radios don’t work worth a darn on ships and would only disturb those around you if they did
  6. What? Wrap him in bubble wrap? 🤭😉
  7. I have done this in the past but if I chose the cash option I needed to provide a minimum amount before boarding. Has that changed? You still would not be able to purchase anything until there was cash or card in the account. If optional, I would do it at the pier while I am already at a checkin desk and not have to wait again in line.
  8. Is sky rider the bikes you pedal? That used to be free.
  9. I think that is what I said. If you haven’t emptied it, you carry it around no matter which it is and the reusable will keep it cool if that is a consideration. If you are planning to empty it well before returning, of course throw it away if you don’t want to carry it. I put a carabiner on my reusable and can hook it to a belt loop, hang it around my neck, toss it in a backpack, or just carry it looped on my finger.
  10. I use a bubble wrap bottle holder. Got it many years ago at a winery. Bottles I will use that but smaller items (non liquids) just get packed among clothes or in shoes.
  11. Do people not realize you do not need to buy water to take ashore? I would only do that if I thought I would need more than my reusable holds (has never happened) or want to drink all the water early on shore and don’t want to carry the bottle back with me. I fill our insulated bottles with a little ice and cold water for the day.
  12. And this is true whether the bathroom is on the same wall as the bed or not.
  13. You’re really naive enough to ask that question? How many people are involved in the card printing process? Printing isn’t the issue. Delivery is the variable. Wrong.
  14. Dollars are accepted most everywhere. Just be sure to estimate before paying what the converted amount should be at about 18:1. We were cheated in a restaurant that insisted on what calculated to 12:1. Then the waiter called us ugly Americans because we informed them we could calculate and estimate without a calculator in hand. They. Think no one knows the difference and most people don’t catch it.
  15. Now you have proven you just post to post. You know very well what I meant and it was not lunch in the steakhouse.
  16. Well, even if the later posts didn’t negate this argument, suppose there are 50 people ahead of you in line and it takes only one extra minute for each of them. Can you compute how long that would keep you in line unnecessarily? It works for Carnival. It works for me—and 98% of others- so end of discussion.
  17. The wheat from the chaff??? Reminds me of a recent thread about people expressing their “superiority” to others. If you can’t see that charging for something that was previously included is a cutback, you are living in LaLa land.
  18. I always request wine glasses when I first meet the cabin attendant. Never have they brought wine glasses but always extra water glasses. I don’t know if it is not knowing the difference (highly unlikely), laziness, or their way of alerting other staff if you should take it from your room filled. I dislike having to ask at bars and carry them back or taking empty returning from the dining room. But I have never been asked about what I bring to the MDR. I also dislike that they only have one style of wine glass when you ask (except maybe in the upcharge dining which I have never felt worth it).
  19. Say they have 20 cabins (or whatever number you want to make up) and all the envelopes are on their cart. As they finish each room and walk out, they place the envelope in the mailbox. Ten seconds per room. Or say they wait till all rooms are finished and make one sweeping pass down the hall placing envelopes in boxes. About 1-2 minutes total. Now compare that to the dockside scenario where each time a passenger steps up to check in, the worker needs to step away from their desk, walk a fair distance to the central location for cards, locate the correct ones and walk back, ensure the passenger is receiving the correct card, and then answer questions about said card. See the difference? And virtually two minutes added to the cabin attendants week.
  20. You can also join AARP for a minimal fee (and you don’t have to be a certain age anymore) and no need to earn points. You can order 5 cards/month. $100 or $500 each for 10% discount. They sometimes have cards for other lines as well but some have different rules. Carnivals can be used for anything Carnival.
  21. Great corollary for a lot of the threads on CC. Your perspective all depends on your original glass. Many on here came to cruising as children and I imagine would have a hard time identifying with an empty glass when they speak of their 100 days a year on the water.
  22. Please change the title of this thread. It is very misleading as Carnival does still require test for some people after Sep 6. Read the entire change. If your only concern is the date, yes it is Sep 6.
  23. Ever heard of false positive or positive when no longer infectious? And how about all those who were refused boarding because a traveling companion (even if arriving separately) tested positive.
