Phase out of Concierge Lounge

Every time one of these threads pops up, I am reminded why we prefer the CL to the DL.

Someone else's experience might be different from our own.....just sayin

These DL v. CL threads always bring the best out in people.

You'd think the 3 of us would know better. :D Ah well, it had been a little quiet around here lately.

...I expect to be able to walk into the lounge that I have access to and be able to find a seat and not have to stake a claim 45 minutes before cocktail hour begins.

Imagine the new threads on that? Chair hogs in the lounge. :)

I sail in almost all parts of the world and I confirm that Quantum has no D lounge but has a concierge lounge. But there is a Diamond event at the music hall every night.

Agree with most of what you wrote. However, just off a sailing on Quantum and the Concierge lounge was the venue for the Diamond evenings. There was no Diamond event at the music hall.

Just off Anthem 1/3-1/15 and we were suite guests. JD the concierge made it clear on day 1 that only suite guests and pinnacles were allowed in the CL. And that all D and D+ were to use the DL. And said that he recognized most of us from our interactions throughout the cruise he would not hesitate to check sea passes to make sure the CL was being utilized properly.

I've seen a few people post that they were changing the name to SL but the Anthem is a new ship and you would have thought if they wanted to call it a SL it would have been done so from the beginning, not calling it a CL then going through the trouble of changing it. The CL name is etched in the glass door. Seems like a waste to rename it at this point.

The concierge refusing entry to D+ guests is very interesting.

Regarding why Anthem had a CL, and not an SL... Well that whole thing has been up in the air for awhile, and Anthem was designed with the Concierge Lounge. I don't think they had time to make the decision whether they wanted an SL or CL. Don't be surprised if they replace that door.

Or cover the old sign with something else, such as a vinyl decal.

The new Royal Suite program takes effect in May 2016. Quantum and Oasis class ships will have a Suite Lounge with this new program. Oasis and Allure already have their Suite Lounge on deck 17 and it looks like Anthem is now using the CL on deck 12 as their Gold Card lounge.

I sailed with Juan Diego as concierge on 11/30/15 - 12/11/15 the suite lounge was only for Pinnacle members and Suite guest then as well. D and D+ had their own lounge on Deck 5. The D/L on the Anthem is huge and very comfortable for all of the D & D+ and they are very well taken care of. If D+ were to be allowed in the S/L, it would be completely over whelmed, due to the vast amount of Suites onboard.

Anthem does but on Quantum it has been reported that it has been removed to make way for a high rollers room as part of the casino expansion which also saw the removal of the music hall.

And in true Royal fashion they have not updated the deck plans to reflect this.

We were told that when the ships make the Asian run, the diamond lounges are turned into high roller lounges as there are few if any diamond passengers onboard. There are several modifications made to ships for the Asian passengers. Many of the changes are centered around the casino.

We don't participate in those conversations. They are what we have overheard around us. But thank you for making an assumption that we would be responsible for it. I am glad you have never experienced it - and I mean that sincerely - not being sarcastic. I do know it is not unique to us though since it has been discussed ad nauseum here and it's been mentioned a few times onboard - even by concierges.

Know exactly what your referring to. My G/F cannot stand the former C/L's for that very reason. But, she absolutely adores the Suite Lounge though - two entirely different worlds.

Matter of fact, I was hanging out with some C/C members in Dec. on the Anthem. Mostly at the pool area on sea days and they relayed to me that how bad their evening meals were w/ a Diamond + member, who every other sentence no matter what the subject, injected the word D+ and or how great it was to be a D+. Fact

So, you met an obnoxious boor... Congrats.

I don't think we can extrapolate anything from that...

Which is against corporate policy. JD should be fired along with the hotel director. JD was the only one that was improper.

D+ has stated before on another thread. One call to Miami got that local policy reversed.

Oasis and Allure have a Suite Lounge and D/D+ are together in the Diamond Lounge. Other ships are adding a Suite Lounge. What's against Corporate Policy?

This August will be our first cruise with access to both the D lounge and Suite lounge.............................

Cannot wait to try out the D lounge and see for myself the difference between the two.

Safe travels

I have gone to see the difference between the two, on a few vessels and sailings. The last sailing, the only reason I lasted a half an hour in the Diamond lounge, was because I was waiting for two people to show up who were diamonds. When they finally showed, At their request, we immediately left and went to a bar. Maybe and hopefully, you will find a better atmosphere in passengers than we did.

CL is a stated benefit of D+

The very first line of the "Terms and Conditions"

https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/cas/benefits.do

"General Terms & Conditions

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has the right to terminate the Crown & Anchor Society® Program ("the Program") or to change the Terms and Conditions of participation and benefits, in whole or in part; at any time without notice.

.

.

.

15. The Concierge Lounge is designated as a smoke-free area. We respectfully request that guests observe a Smart Casual dress code when visiting the Lounge (no swim or pool attire is allowed, footwear is required at all times). Guests 21 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Guests and friends of Suite guests/Diamond Plus members are not allowed into the Concierge lounge due to limited space."

And when I was a diamond, the C/L was stated benefit subject to revision; hence the Diamond lounge.

The C/L has always been for Suite guest, and as an added perk for Diamond and Diamond +. Now the Enhanced Suite Program has been introduced and the former C/L is now the Suite Lounge. With D & D+ having their own lounge + 3 drinks in any bar.

So no one misunderstands what I am about to convey here: I am a diamond + with 399 cruise days. All of which, with the exception of about 21 days were spent in Grand Suites or above.

I have grown extremely weary of all of the Bitching and Complaining from all of these entitled C & A members. If I am dropping anywhere from 12 to 25k on a Suite and I cannot sit down in a lounge because people in a Interior 2k cabin have camped out in said lounge. Not only will I be addressing this personally to the Captain, but Miami as well and I could give a **** less, who on this board does not like it. You have two choices in life...like it or get over it. Or maybe, purchase a Grand Suite...What a concept! ;)

Funny how two people can hear the same thing and yet hear differently, I was on the same cruise as the poster and was present when JD gave his introduction to the guests in the CL. I never heard him say that D+ were not welcome in the CL. He was, however, very specific about not bringing additional guests who were not entitled to the CL.

We are D+ and had numerous interactions with JD throughout the cruise. He was one of the best concierge we have encountered.

I've heard the rumor as well, but we are on Anthem now and there are plenty of D+ people using the CL without a problem. This may be the plan, but it has not happened yet.
