I notice on Day 1 - RC do a lot of raffles and giveaways. Is it worth my time to pursue - has anyone won (bottle of champagne, jewelry, spa, etc.). I do have on list to do the free liquor tasting. Has anyone attended the free liquor tasting event before - thoughts please. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I've not won personally, but I've seen people win, jealously, while I'm giving them the evil eye.... JK. The guy we saw win a really expensive watch had a bunch of tickets from buying jewelry... We had one, lol.

Friends who were traveling with us won Free dinner for 2 at the Italian specialty restaurant, as well as one free excursion of their choice on CocoCay. This was at the pre-sailaway Expo on the Promenade on Mariner back in 2007

Oh, and you should be aware: The free liquor tastings, these days, seem to be measured with an eyedropper.  :p

My ex won a drawing for an excursion on Coco Cay. It was the first wave runner tour of the day (7:30 a.m.), which was not full, and they were disappointed that I was not interested in paying to be a passenger on the wave runner. He went and enjoyed it (I slept in and met him later).

The use to do a spa raffle on day one if you do the spa tour(maybe still do).

In 2011 they raffled off different spa procedures: massages, pedicures, facials, cuts, etc.

The next year they raffled off 50% coupons for spa procedures.

Never went back.......

On the first night if you go to the free liquor tasting they sometimes have a raffle for a bottle of something. The numbers are drawn later in the evening.

You have to be there to win, so a lot of people don't show up. I'd say there were about 15 people at the raffle. Good odds! They called 3 different numbers before someone had a winning ticket.

I once won a spa gc but I didn't claim it.

There really is a winner for each and every one of those raffles and giveaways.

Are you questioning the authenticity?

I like to hear cruisers thoughts/experiences/tips on this subject to determine how much time and effort is put into these raffles and giveaways to win and if I will put it on my to do list. So far, you and everyone that have responded have provided me great insight and I greatly appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!

Difficult to say whether it's worth it to you :) Depends what your priorities are and how much you value your time on board. As far as I know, all of the draws require you to be present to win (except a bonus OBC draw at the NextCruise booking desk - I won that once!).

The spa giveaways are if you attend a free tour earlier during the afternoon of boarding day to get an entry ballot. At the time of the draw later that day, you definitely need to be present to win. They make it sound like you can win "$500 worth of spa services", but nobody wins that amount.

It's individual draw prizes that I suppose add up to that amount. You may not be interested in most of the prizes they offer. DW won a jewelry set from the spa draw once, but it was just costume jewelry and not worth much money. I think that typically, there are somewhere in the neighbourhood of 80-100 people are present for the spa draw. Better odds than 1 in a few thousand, but keep in mind that a 1 or 2% chance is still pretty slim.

Your chances with the shops draws will probably be about the same as a lot of people walk through, take a ticket, and don't stick around (or come back) for the actual draw.

The casino may host slot tournaments that are free to enter (you get a ticket, and if they draw your number, you are entered into the tournament for free). The prizes have included a bottle of champagne, diamond jewelry, or a prize package valued between $10-$50 (a combination of things such as slot/table credits, a t-shirt, drink coupons, etc.).

If you can stand (read as: ignore) the sales pitch at the port shopping presentations, they have draws/giveaways as well.

The Meet & Mingle may also have prize draws. DW won a casino package at one of those :)

I have not attended any of the art events at which they have free champagne and an opportunity to win a piece of art. Those do not interest me.

The liquor store might (or might not) offer free tastings outside of the officially published "free liquor tasting" hours in the Compass. I have seen this before. They may also have a free rum cake tasting. For all the Tortuga rum cakes I see in the shops, I've never actually witnessed anyone buying them

I won the Spa raffle!

March cruise on the Vision.

The spa was packed with hopeful winners!!! Lots of moans and groans when I won ( except for one very sweet lady who gave me a sincere congrats)

You are right though, they advertised $500 spa gift certificate.

I won a $100 gift certificate, which was awesome, but then looking at it , it could only be used for 7 or 8 different treatments, all that were over $175 dollars in price.

I treated myself to a spa facial, but with the 18% Gratutites ( charged on the total for treatment) it still cost me much more then a facial at home.

Oh well, it was an expensive treat / win.:D

Would have preferred to use it on products instead of selected treatment.

I don't think I would do it again.

When my friend & I got aboard Grandeur in October, we were given a form to fill out with officers' names & signatures. We had a few days to complete it, then turn it in. The one with the most signatures won. We did not have to be present. One evening we came back to our stateroom & found a notice that we had won! We won a dinner for 2 at Giavonni's. That was unexpected & delicious. I think people grew bored with talking with the officers. We found it a way to meet new people & had fun doing it.

My husband won a spa drawing. (I think it was on the Quantum.) I told him to keep it for himself as a treat. The great thing about the spa drawings - you don't need to buy anything to win. Just show up there first day.

I won a necklaces in the Bahamas. We just happen to be by the jewelry store at the time of the drawing. I always get all raffle ticket and if I'm there I go. If I am having fun, I don't go out of my way to show up.

I can't say we won a Raffle or a Giveaway....we earned what we won by being the winning couple on Love and Marriage Game. Bottle of Champagne, some other Royal swag and a very nice jewelry set (necklace, bracelet and watch) which now is my 'cruise jewelry' so that I don't have to bring anything expensive.

On the Navigator in November I won a draw in the jewellery store for an unmounted stone of some sort (don't remember exactly what it was).

My daughter was peeved because she dragged me to the raffle because she wanted to go and I won the prize :p

I ended up giving the prize to her a couple months after we got home from the cruise.
