Smoking on balconies

This is a worn out suggestion. Soon Royal will have Casino SMOKE FREE just like Celebrity.

I hope so

No smoke in side is what we love about Celebrity

although, on our last cruise with the reflection, each evening the smokers were standing so close to the doors to the prom deck the smoke was blowing back inside ( its was quite windy out) and even reaching cafe al bacio,

Was on Adventure a couple of years ago, and the smoking in the casino was so bad, we could not even use the schooner bar, as the smoke was coming out along the passage.

The smoke also came up the stairs onto the royal promenade and could be smelt and tasted in the pub. it was acting like a chimney

not been that bad on indy, so maybe its the Voyager class? will find out soon , going on Navigator, or maybe that cruise had alot of smaokers who were using the casino?

don't know as we could never face going in there.

That's the same reason we don't use Schooner on Freedom, it was right outside the entrance to the casino and it smelled horrible there. I mention on every post cruise survey that the smoking inside the casino needs to be stopped. We won't go in and gamble until they make the change. It will happen, it's just a matter of time.

Point is, I find it hard to believe they would ever totally ban smoking in the casino.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, it has worked out for Celebrity. The casino is busy every night. Doug S is right on when he says times are changing.

SMOKING IS PERMITTED ON ALL CRUISE LINES 100 YARDS OFF THE AFT OF THE SHIP!!! JUST REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR WATERPROOF MATCHES!!!!

Perhaps the intolerant could establish their own area a few yards starboard of the smoking area.

I have no problem with a designated smoking area outside. It is already not permitted in your cabin or balcony. However, the Casino is an indoor area and SMOKING should not be permitted and smoking on the balcony should not have a warning. First offense should be at the minimum $1000.

I believe Royal OWNS Celebrity...

Well depends on who you are talking about when talking about Royal.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL) owns several cruiselines like Celebrity, Royal Caribbean International (RCI), Azamara Club Cruises and others.

Jeez folks...this is really a non-issue. The wind blows it away, so YOU aren't breathing it. Live and let live. I can't imagine spending my vacation time trying to "catch" someone doing something they aren't supposed to. Waste of MY time!~

No one's trying to catch anyone. Smell it more than "once in awhile" while I am trying to enjoy my balcony it gets reported.

You are closing in on 80,000 posts.....congrats on that milestone and not being a time waster.

Correct. That's why Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. wants to see all their RCCL and Celebrity ships (all of their Brand ships) sailing full whether you elect not to smoke or smoke. We like to sail both RCCL and Celebrity.

Sorry but you got it wrong.

RCCL is the mother Company = Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

The ships belong to the cruise lines like RCI = Royal Caribbean International.

In all seriousness, I can tell you that even the rudest smoker will back down off their claim that smoking on a balcony makes smoke not smell if you use this trick.

The reactions people make when someone farts are pretty awesome. Or if you are more shy, a can of stink spray would prove the same point.

You can buy "stink spray???"

Just ask the SO, I could lay some natural "stink' that would run both SMOKERS an NON SMOKERS from the Casino.... the reason we require a Balcony at the minimum ..... but I don't...

I don't think anyone is advocating looking around balcony dividers just to see if someone MIGHT BE smoking. I understood it to be a suggestion to do this is in the event that you smell smoke. And honestly, one doesn't have to 'peek around'. You can go stand at your railing and look to the side and see the next balcony.

If you're not the one smoking on your balcony, then the ire isn't directed at you. No one said YOU specifically are not following the rules or that YOU personally were smoking on your balcony. The problem is the people who ARE doing it. The smokers who don't follow the rules - not the ones who do!

Also you can often see the balconys below. And the last two ships I was on had a bump so you could see many of the other balconys.

I'm glad you agree with me. I have no problems with consequences for rule breakers. And those who violate my privacy by looking onto my balcony can face those consequences. They may scare me and my drink may go flying out of my hand into their faces. You never know.

Many ships I have been on other balconies have been visible. The last two had a bump and I could see onto a bunch of balconies. Can also see onto balconies below. It is naive to think balconies are private.
