Crystal Block

We'll reach diamond plus on our cruise in March. Do they mail you your pins? I dont think we ever received our diamond pins.

I turned Platinum three cruises ago. Never got a pin. Oh, the last night of our last cruise we got a pin. Great. 1 night shy of Emerald and they give me my Platinum pin. I just figured it was a cost saving method such as a way to pay for Pinnacles to get name tags. At least they get one per person. The Platinum pin is apparently one per household.

If you haven't gotten your pins, on the next cruise you take go to the LA desk, they should give you any missing pins. We have done this in the past.

Bob, I had to go check, I still have my D+ luggage tag on my suitcase. I must be lucky, it has been through many flights.

When I was recently on the Grandeur, we were to get our 350 pt. block. I asked the LA on board, who was very rude the whole cruise, told us we weren't "on the list to get one". She said we shouldn't get it until our next cruise. I said I will call C&A when I get home. She said, yes, do that. I know you are to get it on the day the points are achieved. Why would I want a block of a ship where I didn't achieve that milestone. Anyway, we did get our block on that cruise, even though we were not "on the list". She was the most unfriendly Loyalty Ambassador that I ever dealt with. I'm not the only one to have had problems with her. She was rude to several people I talked to.

I did call C&A when I got home to clarify it and you are to get it on the cruise you are on when you reach that milestone......

When we hit Platinum we each got a pin delivered to our cabin.

FYI, if you carry block in your carry on be ready to get questions about it from TSA

You are correct and it needs to be out, not inside a carry on. A word to the wise, if you are carrying the block with your carry-on bags when you check through security at the airport, be sure and have the block out and send it through in a bin. I had mine in the bottom of my back pack and they searched it because they noticed something when it went through the scanner. They took everything out of the backpack, opened the box and used the little piece of cloth and wiped the block and ran it through the analyzer. I kept wondering the whole time who might have touched it before we got it. Everything was fine but I will keep them out next time.

From experience, suggest that on the cruise you become eligible for a block, early on in that cruise, see the Loyalty person and offer a reminder

Excellent idea. A bit off topic but I have family joining PC soon. It will take place on MJ, where they cruise almost every weekend. They are having a big party, all planned out. They have spoken with the LA.

The crappy plastic tags that say Diamond Plus that are supposed to be a permanent ID tag on your bags, but will break off after just a few uses.

Mine finally broke, but I kept it on my carry on bags. Guess I was the

culprit....can't blame the baggage handlers on this one. ;)

Mmm...I wonder if the LA from our last year Serenade cruise ended up on

Grandeur? I had heard she left soon after we ended our cruise. Serenade LA

did the same thing to us. Was not a very nice lady at all and swore we don't

receive the block until after the cruise when our points are posted. She was

so wrong...and apparently does not read her company's own posted policy.

I did finally get the block SIX months after the cruise. And got two of them...go

figure.

Could be that LA.....she was new to the Grandeur. Anxious to see if she is still on in February. She needs to be behind the scene and not dealing with the public. She certainly needs an attitude adjustment!

Don't really understand the need for blocks. Have several and they are useful for holding down a stack of newspapers on my Sunday newspaper stands when the wind is really blowing.

I'll trade if you need a specific ship.

Can't know why anyone would want one!

My block was delivered to my cabin. I never had to ask about it.

And I have to say that being "questioned" by TSA is a bit mild. I was pulled out for special screening in Barcelona, which included a complete pat-down and a dissection of my carry-on luggage. Then at JFK I watched the sudden frown on the face of the lady manning the scanner, followed by the summoning of another attendant, They pulled my bag off the belt, took it over to be opened and his hand dove right under the dirty clothes padding that block and pulled it out. Then he looked at me in confusion (clearly this person does not cruise).

We turned platinum on last cruise. Normal to get pin on our next cruise, or should it have happened on last cruise? What does it look like? I'd like to know how hard to try and track it down. [emoji23] And is it one per person? It certainly should be since we all pay to cruise!

One pin per person should be received on your next cruise.

Thank goodness we are not all the same and don't have all the same likes, tastes,

and preferences. ;)

We enjoy ours, and have a "cruise corner" in our house with a display of pictures,

awards, and yes.... CRYSTAL BLOCKS!!

It always makes us smile when we see those memories and is a conversation piece for visitors. It is what you make of it.

I got the TSA carry-on inspection last month in Ft. Lauderdale. They questioned my Harmony block and and gave me a pat-down.

DH had our block in his carry on in December and had no problem getting through security. Putting it in our checked luggage would have put us over the allowed 50 lbs. We were on Liberty and had no idea we were getting it so it was a nice surprise.

We were on Serenade last April and the LA was useless. The one time we spoke with her, she said she was on the way to the B2B event and would call us back. After that, we left probably 4 vm messages and never heard back. Without going into details about our major problem, the Casino Manager was the only one who helped address it. Hope he's still on the ship in March.

Not like FLL TSA has never seen one before.

FLL must have the highest percentage of cruisers to non-cruisers of any airport. On a typical winter weekend there are 10,000 people getting off RCI. I don't know how many of these fly, but assume 50%. Don't know how many are Diamond, but IME there are a lot of Ds, and probably about 10% of the total passenger load has reached 140 C&A points. Passengers who have gotten to Block status get a block on average every 10 cruises (actually higher than that since Suite passengers get one every 5 weeks). Assume further that every Block handed out goes to a couple (cutting the number in half).

(10,000 Passengers)*(0.10 in Block range)*(0.10 of in Block range getting a Block that cruise)*(0.5 for 1 Block per couple) = 50 blocks arriving at Port Everglades every winter weekend day and approximately 25 RCI Crystal Blocks going through security at FLL every winter weekend day. Wake up TSA:rolleyes:

You'd be surprised how much people don't pay attention to things.

To this date I almost always get questioned by the onboard bartenders when I want to trade in my warm gift Corona for a cold one on day 1. They almost always ask where I got a beer from.
