Craziest thing you've seen another passenger do

I often cruise solo and have become accustomed to occasionally being "overlooked". I take it in stride and have no problem quietly asserting myself when a couple try to go around me standing solo in a line up for something.

One afternoon, I had grabbed a late lunch from the Lido buffet and hunted for a clean, empty table to sit at. I was enjoying my meal when a group of 4 people passed by looking for a table to dine at. They settled on the table beside me which had a few dishes left over from the last diners. One of the group stacked the dirty dishes, and removed them from their table. But instead of moving them to another empty table, to my surprise, disgust and annoyance, they deposited them on my table, right in front of where I was eating! It was as if I wasn't even there.

I was so shocked, I was actually speechless. I finished my meal quickly and left.

Let's just say I would have "tossed" those dishes right back on to their table with NO hesitation. You only get taken advantage of, when you allow it to happen!

Enjoying all the posts. Reminds me of our Bermuda cruise on the Summit last year. We were finishing drinks in the Martini Bar and about to go to dinner when a very inebriated and boisterous couple appeared at our table. Friendly and obviously enjoying their drink packages, the woman was gushing about my wife's outfit (it was Evening Chic night). The man turned to me and, I guess feeling a need to explain their very casual and rumpled outfits (we certainly didn't say anything..we don't care about things like that), said they had spent all day on the island drinking and then found a secluded beach cove and "constipated" their relationship. He said it loudly enough to silence nearby conversations. "Sounds painful," I replied. He appeared bewildered at the laughter and we chuckled all the way to the restaurant.

I guess a mathematician would have to work that one out with a pencil!

We have loved every one of our cruises and adore all the people we have met. But one time only, I had an upsetting experience.

It was Silhouette, my daughter and I were in the adult pool area and we got into the pool. It takes me a while - my daughter got straight in and I get down the steps and say to her "I know, I am a coward....." and this American man who was already in the pool - with his baseball cap on - said " well, that's right coming from an English person!". I said "Sorry, what was that?" and he said "Ha! the Great British Empire! Don't make me laugh!"

I was totally shocked by the horrid look on his face and all I could think of was a childish retort of "Oh you stupid fat idiot" to which he replied "I hear ya" and off he went. My daughter burst into tears.

Later in the cruise I saw him - recognised the cap - and a waiter bent to ask him something and he said "I cruise alone". My daughter whispered to me that she wasn't surprised as he surely had no friends.....

I'm still upset just recounting that!! Thank goodness for all the lovely cruisers we meet who make up for the horrible ones.

It was not a childish retort! Sometimes a lout needs a good comeuppance!

This one is a self-identify ... yes, I did the crazy ... got on an elevator with hubby, daughter and niece with the intent to go from bottom of ship to top. Held the door for a couple following behind us, then the masses piled in, and kept piling in with myself and family pushed to the very back corner. Elevator got to the point that it was "buzzing" weight overload ... the doors would not close. NO one was moving. I, being 5ft and a few, was crammed so far into the corner I couldn't move. Then it happened, my first panic attack. I started shaking, sweat rolling off my forehead ... still NO one was moving. I started screaming, then the "big bad word," that I never say, rolled off my tongue ... GET THE F OUT OF MY WAY ... the folks parted like the Red Sea and I quickly got off, with hubby and kids following. I felt I couldn't breath and had to take a minute to catch my breath. My daughter was so shocked because "Mom" never curses. All individuals were now crowded back onto the elevator, and it was still "buzzing"' even with the four of us off. Needless to say, I got my exercise on that ship, never again took the elevator, in fact I rarely take it anywhere to this day if possible. I'm sure the other passengers were saying "there is that crazy lady."

My first cruise (not Celebrity) was with my then 15 yr old daughter and myself. We didn't realize you could request a table change at dinner and each evening we had the most uncomfortable meal. A family, Grandmother, Mom & Dad and 13 yr old daughter. Only the 13 yr old spoke english and what made it uncomfortable was her dress - she looked like a "working girl". Being from the mid-west - I had a lot of explaining to do to my daughter.

Short cruise (on Celebrity), we are in the Martini Bar - a very drunk couple is fighting and the guy decided to leave. Makes it to the wall and slides down to the floor, crawls up the wall - takes a couple of steps and slides down again. Did this till out of sight.

Sailing into San Juan - sounds like a domestic fight in the cabin next door, furniture hitting the walls, screaming. Young man goes out to the balcony and is threatening to kill himself by throwing himself over the side. Seems he got confined to his cabin for complaining about a tummy ache. Took forever for security to arrive.

Rough seas plus a dance floor and a guy wearing a kilt. I now know what they wear under there - nothing. :o

Yes we wear nothing;) 3 years ago on the Solstice I was wearing my kilt when I had an interesting encounter. It was pretty late and I was in the Quasor with a group of friends. While I was out on the dance floor a very drunk woman comes up and asks what they all ask "is it true what you wear under your kilt?" I replied, yes it's true. She then says I don't believe you, turn around. Ok, no problem, I'm thinking shes going to lift the back of my kilt and take a peak at my bare butt. NOPE, Full on arm up kilt, hand on my junk:eek: Groped in Quasor! I wonder who was more surprised?

Oh my goodness! How awful for you! The self-absorption of people baffles me sometimes. Surely - the folks closest to the door should have figured out that someone needed to get off when the buzzer went off - and since they were last on it should be them. Add to that the person hyperventilating in the back of the elevator and nobody moves or tries to help. Some people are seriously clueless...

I climbed into a hot tub to enjoy and as I slipped in, said how great the cruise was and how much I was enjoying it. the man next to me set me straight by starting to list all the negative things about the cruise. When it became obvious most of the complaints were about cruising in general, I asked him why he cruised, and he said his wife forced him to go......and as he continued his never ending list of complaints, I got out, walked over to the next hot tub and slipped in. this time I sat quietly until a woman said how much she was enjoying the cruise, so I pipped up with my exclamation of happiness.

Was she that man's wife?

Heres my list:

1) Seeing a passenger take a cr-p in the pool surrounded by 1 thousand people......on Purpose laughing......

2) Seeing a drunk passenger fall of their barstool....right off, passed out onto the floor.

3) Seeing a passenger claim the services were bad onboard and taking her tips off....She was in the casino every night...... claimed she was having a GREAT Crusie!

4) Seeing a husband wife couple who had attended the captains dinner.....After it was over they went around to all the red wine glasses that had wine left and poured it into theirs.....These two were Zenith Members......before free wine was a perk........

5) Woman passed out in the vestibule between the doors to the outside pool area for over an hour.......

6) Drunk Man standing on Bannister peeing into the ocean as Security fought to get him down

This is all I got for now....More will come......

Once I saw someone wearing their cruise provided bathrobe at the breakfast buffet

We saw exactly that same thing on our disembarkation day on the QE in December. His robe was a wee bit too small .

We were speculating whether he was one of those unfortunate people who put all their luggage out the night before and forget to keep something to wear off the ship :D.

Would a tribble try to eat my peeve?

I don't think so. I don't know if tribbles are strict vegetarian herbivores or omnivores.

The worrisome thing is, if they are on a cruise ship together, and in a hot tub on a balcony late at night, or maybe in the Martini Bar together wearing little mini kilts, they might copulate.

Treebles? Pivvels? and lots and lots of them.

scary.

caribill, may you and all the rest of the contributors to this thread enjoy may more cruises in the years to come. danielbriere, we appreciate that you started this thread. My wife and I are sending the link to family and friends who cruise.

I actually asked a man sporting his bathrobe in the lido at lunch if the cruiseline had lost his luggage.

Lot of comments on how OTHERS behave in this thread.. Little reflection on own way to behave......

Perhaps that is influenced by the title of the thread?

If you want to discuss/reflect on your own behavior you should start a thread on that particular topic?

Well...I would imagine none of us has done any of the things written above. You have to admit these stories are about outrageous (or at the very least ridiculous) behavior.

Several years ago, as I was walking past the pool, I observed an elderly man prep 2 loungers. He sat in one and put his dentures in the other. Then he proceeded to take a nap.

He was still there, several hours later....

Glad I didn't have my camera with me....

One time at the buffet an utterly beautiful strawberry cake was brought out. It was covered in luscious whole strawberries that had been dipped in chocolate. The kind of dipped strawberries you order for special occasions. Seriously a gorgeous cake. The woman ahead of me proceeded to pick EVERY SINGLE chocolate dipped strawberry off the top of the cake, put them on her plate and left -- leaving a plain vanilla cake behind for the next people.

Once I saw someone wearing their cruise provided bathrobe at the breakfast buffet

Okay... I must ashamedly confess: I have done this! I wasn't thinking. I had thrown on the robe over my bathing suit to go up to the pool. It was lunch time and I was feeling snack-y. My only thought was "I could go for a snack..." and so I did! :D I didn't think anything of it, just wanted my snack! As I wandered to and fro happily choosing things for my snack, suddenly a very handsome officer came up to me and said "Excuse me ma'am but bath robes are not allowed in the buffet." I giggled and said "You're kidding, right?" I figured I was far more covered up than many of the other cruisers in various forms of dress and undress. Again, very nicely and respectfully, he said "No ma'am. I'm afraid I am not kidding. Bath robes are not allowed." I said "I'm terribly sorry. Where can I leave my tray while I go down to my cabin and change?" to which he replied "Just for today, please go enjoy your lunch. But in future please wear clothing to the buffet." LOLOLOL!!! I now make sure I bring something appropriate to throw over my bathing suit if I'm going to be around the pool at lunch time.
