Disappointed with RCL/Allure.

Recommended Posts

She mistyped...she meant NCL.

To OP

If they indeed comp you a suite, what are you doing on RCCL?

We've been cruising with RCCL many years and many cruises and I've never encountered any of the situations you remark on, only had one negative experience with an employee and it was immediately rectified. Allure is a lovely ship with wonderful crew. As advised, it is your choice to enjoy her. If you are really annoyed and feel you have been unfairly treated, have Guest Services remove your gratuities.

I never bother crew with empty glasses, just leave them where you were. And you could've asked for a blanket and pillow without any further details and would've been given them with no "looks". Maybe you are reading more into peoples "looks" than necessary. As for late night food...that is a first for me, there is more than enough food around all of our cruises...maybe you just didn't look in the right places.

Hope you can make a good time of the rest of your cruise.

so this is your first cruise with Royal and you got a comp suite. Nice.

That's what I was thinking..

If this is your first RC cruise, how do they know they love you so much, based on your casino play, that they comped you a suite. I have been on these boards a very long time and have NEVER heard of such.

The only way I figure this might happened is they sailing on a sister line of RC and they established their casino record there. That record is transferable within the "RC Family" of lines.

Something like booking a Celebrity Cruise while onboard a RC one.

I have better things to do on vacation than to let something so irrelevant get me "really pissed off".... It would never occur to me to stop while walking and ask an employee to take my glass, the nearest bar is always just around the corner and you can sit it there.

Half a day into the cruise and the food already sucks? Sounds like your kids are going to grow up as hard to please and bitter as you.

Well it doesn't take long to see what the food is like. We were on inn June this year and it didn't take us long to come to the conclusion that the food and the way it was served was rubbish, and we didn't change our mind over 14 days. The meat was off very low quality, same veg every day except one. Steak so thin it could float, and if you want lobster or something a little bit special then you have to pay extra for it. Seen better served up in a canteen. At least in the canteen I use the food is served hot and you don't have to fight your way through the grizzle.

Not angry at all. Just disappointed.

I'm not sure what suite this is, my first RCL cruise. It was comped to me by my Casino.

Ceasers Palace comps me NCL cruises and that's all I've ever cruised. From eastern, western, Bahamas and Europe NCL cruise all have been great.

I've been playing at a different casino and this is what was given to me. I know it's a suite because I got to go into the "suite" line boarding and was sat at the suite lounge area before being let on the ship. Also compared to the other 2 balcony rooms I booked, my room is huge with a tub.

Allure is a beautiful ship. It's huge. Make NCL Escape feel small.

Seems I touched a nerve with some about how I felt with all of these snarky replies. And the comment about my kids, really? Is that necessary? So they like the food from another cruise line so now they are bitter etc?

Thought I could vent on this board about my cruise, I mean "cruise critic", yet I feel like my critique has some up in arms.

Oh well, I'll just go on about my vacation and see what the rest of the cruise has to offer. Johnny Rockets breakfast just now was great. My server was great.

To those with helpful replies and tips, thanks. I appreciate it.

Never sailed on Azamar but I know that your casino profile is NOT transferrable between Royal and Celebrity. Each of the lines maintains its own casino profile and they do not transfer.

The only possibility here would be some kind of MLife comp.

MLife and Caesars don't match up.

The reason you experienced the snarky response is that you are complaining and unhappy on the first day of your first cruise on RCL (the cruise doesn't really matter). Most adults would give it more time, perhaps the entire 7 days before they complain. Quite honestly it sounds to me, hopefully I am wrong, but you and your kids have set the tone for your entire cruise on day 1.

Let me clear up my comment on RCL comping me the suite. It was the Casino. The way I wrote it is confusing, sorry about that.

I typed one sentence when in my head it should have been two.

To clarify, my casino comped me the cruise and from my experience cruises with casinos love passengers like me. Degenerate gamblers, that play large amounts per hand for long hours.

Hope that clears that part up.

Thanks @weespeed, my favorite type threads. I hope the tables are good to you on the boat. I am still amazed how people can derive a person's core values and motivations from 343 words. I wish I had that type of clairvoyance.

I am sorry some get defensive about their choice of line. I hope the cruise gets better for you. I am following along as we will be on Allure (our first Oasis class experience) in March with our kids.

If your comped suite is a true suite and not a junior suite you have a lot of extra benefits, especially on an Oasis class ship. Suite lounge on board, specialty dining, reserved seating, concierge use, and more, at no additional charge. These benefits apply only to the people booked in the suite, other than perhaps having others as guests for dinner - don't miss out on the benefits of the "suite life".

Yep. Junior suites can use the Suite entrance and boarding area. JS also have a tub. But that's about it.

Been on Allure so countless times and always have an amazing time on her... for me the best ship on the fleet with the friendliest crew ever...

Reading your post, you sound like a trouble sailing... The solution to your problem is way easy... GO BACK TO NCL...

Caribbean Sailor...

Strange how each person has their differences. Allure is my absolute favorite ship. Have been on 44 Royal Caribbean cruises. Did cruise Norwegian to Hawaii. Terrible experience and it was a brand new ship. I wouldn't go back on Norwegian unless it was practically free.

I hope, by now, things have improved. I totally understand what you're saying about food choices after 11pm. I found the same problem. That said, my cabin attendant on Allure was the BEST cabin attendant I've ever had, and he made my cruise. I'm sorry you feel yours is not friendly. I hope that's improved by now as well. As for the "glass complaint," I have a feeling that's something you never would have noticed if the other things hadn't already "set you off." I understand that too. It seems like, once something bad happens, I notice a lot of other issues that would normally roll right off my back. Keep us posted. I would love to hear you're having a great cruise. I did love the staff in the Allure casino, but it was NOT good to me. lol

And people think I'm rude at times. That's not something I'd say to anyone. And against forum guidelines!

OP: sorry you're getting backlash from some posters. Sometimes it seems like people treat their cruise line of choice as though they were youth sports parents.

You should absolutely complain about the unwillingness to honor a simple request like finding an extra pillow and blanket. The arguments about occupancy and muster are just folks trying to justify it...unless you said that your mother was moving into your cabin permanently, then you were making a very simple request to make an occasional visitor comfortable. This isn't a dormitory...you're entitled to have guests into your suite.

And yes, RCCI definitely lacks an O'Sheehans style late-night venue. If that's something that you value highly, then unfortunately you're going to be disappointed.

As for the rest, put it down to first-day jitters. I've sailed both NCL and RCCI in the past and wouldn't say that globally one line has more or less friendly staff than the other. Some individuals are great, some are good, some are less than good. But I would be shocked if the Allure crew are universally worse or better than what you've had on NCL.

Sorry to disagree, but original post indicated OP asked to have a bed made up for his mother to spend the night in his cabin. That's the reason for the comments regarding cabin capacity, etc. The request was worded to have a bed made up, not just an extra pillow/blanket. Having guests in your cabin does not extend to having an extra bed made up on the couch. As you pointed out, it's not a dormitory. You are expected to sleep in the cabin assigned to you and paid for.

I've slept on the sofa bed if I'm snoring loudly [emoji33]

You don't have to sleep in the bed.
