Sea Pass hole punch

If someone wants to punch a hole in their RFID seapass card, it is best to avoid the antenna.  I ran my Anthem RFID card through an X-Ray to see where it runs.  Proceed at your own risk 😉

It seems to me that punching a hole in the exact circle of the WiFi symbol would be safe, but card stock might change and have slight variations.

You can kind of see that when you hold them up to a strong light. Especially the white ones

The first picture was taken with a srtong light behind the card, and you can see the antenna and electronic chip within the card.

I have seen kiosks with lanyards for sale at the check-in counter. May depend on your port. I haven’t checked onboard, but I’m sure they have something.

Does anyone know if the seapass card from the Symphony can have holes punched in them?

Just watched the "Sharon at Seas" vlog for their recent Symphony cruise.  They were told no they could not punch a hole because of the RFID technology.

I use something like this one for my badge at work.  It is easy to slip it in and out.

I have to have the badge out to open main entry doors, and they are used to log into computers.  So it is in and out a lot.

The downside is, it is RFID shielded, so you will need to remove the card to open your room door.

oops no Target in Canada anymore - will try wallmart

Try Michael's!  Just bought some for our cruise.

And for anyone with kids who still rainbow loom - ask your kids to make them!  You can buy rings at Michaels.

On Adventure, I assume that there is no RFID chip.  Do I take the cards to GS and get them to punch them?

Yep, or Adventure Ocean.

Anthem uses the RFID SeaPass cards, which can be damaged with a hole punched in the wrong place. I believe only Quantum class and Harmony are using the RFID cards right now.

DW thought the wrist band was a better idea for $4.99 than buying a lanyard.

My wife also liked the wristband as it gave her an easy way to open room door, and I kept her seapass card on me, as I am usually the designated drink fetcher 😉

That worked for us as well since I’m the fetcher too.

After the Oasis/Allure refurbs will those ships have the new card technology and/or WOW bands?

Oasis already has the WOW bands, Allure will likely follow.

Yep.  That antenna is a lot bigger than you think!  In the below pic, you can see the RFID chip with the antennae extending out and around the perimeter of the card.

I was just on Oasis over the holidays and Guest Services has a self-serve punch right on the desk (so you don't have to wait in line).  Now with that said, the Guest Services representative I was working with showed me how to do it (there was a certain way to place your card in the punch)....but I came back later and did all of our cards and they all worked great all week.
