Hi all,

Me and my girlfriend are going on a Celebrity cruise on the 7th April this year starting in Singapore and ending in Dubai, I need ideas for proposing to her, she doesn't like massive displays of public affection so doing it in front of a big crowd is out of the question!

Any tips and hints would be great as this is my 1st cruise onboard Celebrity!

Captain Nick, when he was on Constellation told me that he arranged a special "Bridge Tour" in the evening so that a proposal could take place. She said "yes" and they along with their families met for drinks in Michael's Club. My DW and I along with a friends were in MC when they were there and extended our congratulations.

Perhaps more info about what ship you're on, type of room you've booked, her likes etc?

I understand you can buy a romance package with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and rose petals in the stateroom and specialty restaurant fees. You might consider bringing some battery powered candles for ambience in the room.

Constellation, Veranda Stateroom, She loves dressing up, going out for dinner, cocktails, the typical thing a woman likes ;).

If she isn't into public displays you might consider getting the romance package and making arrangements with your stateroom attendant for a day/time and proposing on your veranda. They usually love making things special. Perhaps in the evening on a sea day. Alternately I'm sure there are lovely romantic places to propose at one of your ports (none of which are familiar to me)

I don’t know if it is wise to propose on a cruise unless you are very positive that she would accept. If she didn’t it would end up in a horrible situation for both of you.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

My husband proposed on a formal night( when they still had them) after dinner while taking a walk on the upper deck. Very romantic under the stars. Just a cautionary he had the ring in his breast pocket during picutes before dinner and they made me put my hand on his chest for the pic.. he lied and told me it was his camera.. so all was good just a warning.

Agree with the romance package on the balcony - followed with dinner in a specialty restaurant. You might do some research on where to buy a fine wine in Singapore and bring it on board for use in your cabin on the special day.

How about dinner in Murano? They still do the dinner plate “reveal” with silver covers on the plates. Maybe arrange in advance with Maitre’d to have the ring on a plate covered with the silver cover. Reveal it maybe for dessert? If you ask in advance, I am sure you could reserve a rather private corner of Murano. I think that would be lovely!

My fiancé just proposed to me on our recent Abu Dhabi and India cruise (on the constellation, the same ship you will be on)

He did it on a chic night, so we were all nicely dressed up. Since the band was a bit lame, he asked if I wanted to get a champagne and walk on deck a little bit before dinner. We went to one of the new cabana like couches on the aft top deck, on the side, super nice comfortable private location, and there he asked the question. It was perfect! I also wouldn't have liked a big public display in the dining room or whatever, so it was just perfect that way!

So why not keep it simple? Will also save you your nerves if you don't involve too many people. The more people, the more can go wrong... just get a drink, find a nice quiet and romantic place and if the feeling is right, ask the question. You will be in control and if something's not right that night you can always postpone to the next day.

Fun thing, when we were getting the champagne at the bar, one of the officers walked by, saw us all dressed up (he in a tux, I was in a long evening dress) and said "are you getting married or what??" I laughed but he later said he almost had a heart attack. Now we both laugh about it.

And our stateroom attendant (Noreen who was an absolute star) organized a little flower bouquet for our cabin after she found out, which was a very nice touch!

Oh and of course I said yes!

Wishing you two all the best for the future and hope your engagement goes the way you picture it!

Oh I like this! Cute and special, but without too much public attention.

+1 on this......should be easy to arrange and my guess is that they will do your entire dinner with extra flair....

BTW...make sure the ring is insured before you take it on the ship.

Think about this.....

You bring her ring into the jewelry shop and ask the sales person to hold it for you. THEN, bring your future Bride into the shop just to look since you'd love to buy her something. Out comes her ring- you ask- she says YES!

And, live happily ever after!

Sadly Murano (Ocean Liners) has been removed from Constellation. The specialty restaurants available are Tuscan Grille, Qsine and Sushi on 5. Of those choices I think Tuscan would provide the most quiet and intimate setting. A quick and phony visit to the men's room or back to the cabin to get something you "forgot" and talk with the maître d would cover the arrangements.

Another thought would be an order of a room service dinner from the MDR and a quiet table for two is guaranteed. Enjoy! Sounds like you'll both have a memory to last a lifetime. Good luck.

We were in port 2 weeks ago and a young man offered to take my husband and my picture together. Then he asked if I would take theirs. After I took the first shot and was getting ready to take another, I saw him kneel down and take something out of his pocket so I kept taking as many pictures as I could. She said yes and we were honored to be part of it as complete strangers !

I was going to suggest taking her to Raffles Hotel in Singapore but unfortunately it is currently closed for refurbishment. Are there any other iconic places at your other ports?

Congratulations in advance. Have a great time. [emoji4][emoji898]🥂[emoji183]

Congratulations....You have had some great suggestions! I would suggest early in the cruise then the pressure is off and you can relax!

Personally, I would go for the walk on deck with the glasses of Champagne....We have been married nearly forty years and I still find a walk on deck under the stars with my husband romantic!

If you choose chic night then go and have your picture taken afterwards and maybe ask the photographer to do a kneeling shot and a ring shot too...

I would suggest you contact the ship and arrange to propose to your girlfriend on the helipad. It is in the front (bow) of the ship and is quite private as you can only be their by being escorted by ship personal. You can arrange to have champagne delivered and they even allow a few friends to attend.
