Are You Amped About Sky Princess 2019?

Like others if there is no Crooner's, and they don't enlarge and change Princess Live to a lounge then we have no intention on booking the Sky. Where are all the 4,000+ passengers going to go? All packed into the Piazza?

I understand that not all interior design plans have been finalized, so maybe, just maybe, Princess will listen to their customers. For now will will stay with Grand Class ships, far better design then Royal Class.

Hmmm what? it means excited. I'm super amped up about my weekend. I'm pumped to go to that concert tomorrow night.

Or in British English ‘I’m champing at the bit to go to that concert tomorrow night’ or ‘I’m full of beans as it’s the weekend tomorrow’ :D

I do have concerns about the extra set of staterooms around the Retreat Pool. Surely Princess cannot have upped the number of passengers without considering additional public space? Praying that there are changes which are being kept secret until nearer the launch.

I think people said the same when caribbean was announced.

Or chomping. Full of beans to me growing up was more lively and in high spirits, not necessarily looking forward to.

Well I wasn’t impressed with the Royal....but, I immediately booked the Sky’s 7 night inaugural. Princess has not wowed me since the Sun class went into service....but Princess always seems comfortable to me. So as long as the service is good, the food decent, a good bartender, a hot shower and a clean cabin I’m ready to go. Sailing an inaugural out of Athens is something different, so yes I am stoked, chomping at the bit, and squealing like a true ship Beyotch.

Now imagine my excitement when it comes to booking the inaugural of Virgin Voyages....I’ll be wetting my skivvies for sure

Sky will be my 26th Princess cruise out of a total of 88 cruises...so theship doesn’t need to overwhelm me....just how I am treated.

If your planning on making the inaugural say hi!

Tom

There’s less dissatisfaction being posted about the Sky than before the Royal Princess sailed. ;)

I don’t go to bars but certainly understand why replacing Crooners with an a la carte menu French bistro is a bad change for other passengers. Friends who have sailed on the Regal said that La Mer’s location on the Majestic was poorly designed with an area for passengers to walk near the tables. I’ve never been impressed with Princess Live either.

Changes to the Majestic were much more drastic & probably will never sail on that ship which was designed for the Asian market.

However there’s a very active roll call of amped passengers for the Sky’s November 2019 28-day cruise (including the shorter segments). I like the itinerary with new ports to explore and more time in favorite ports. I enjoy this class of ship (6 weeks sailed; 6 weeks booked) and there’s nothing negative about the Sky that will diminish my enjoyment.

Like any ship it’s not best for everyone but there are many more pros than cons for me.

Well I'm excited for Sky Princess - am booked on the Inaugural from Athens and am looking forward to finding out about the tweaks to the Royal class design (been on all 3 previous ships). I collated some notes from the deck plans thread - have stated where the design differs from Regal/Royal or copied Majestic changes:

Deck 19 - Vista

Deck renamed Vista instead of Sky

Deck 18 - Sky

Deck renamed Sky instead of Sports

Sanctuary on deck 18 rather than 17

3 new Hot Tubs

2 new "Sky Suites" - Category S0

Open deck outside Sanctuary and Sky Suites- will deck be restricted access?

Steps down to Retreat Pool?

Deck 17 - Sun

Retreat Pool with no Hot Tubs on deck 17 forward surrounded by cabins, will it be open-aired or covered?

First Oceanview cabins (6 in total) on a Royal class ship

2 extra Hot Tubs midship

Outdoor Exercise area on aft as Majestic Princess but with stairs down to 16

Deck 16 - Lido

No Fountain Pool or Plunge Pool - replaced by larger pools

No Glass SeaWalk

Seaview Bar in the middle of the Lido deck rather than at the side

Prego Pizzeria/Trident Grill replaced by Slice/Salty Dog Grill

World Fresh Marketplace buffet as Majestic Princess

New small aft Wake View Pool

Deck 9 - Dolphin

Set of aft and forward larger balconies as Majestic Princess

Deck 8 - Emerald

Set of mini-suites as Majestic Princess

Deck 7 - Promenade

Shops of Princess as Majestic Princess

French Bistro as Majestic Princess (no Crooners bar)

Alfredos opposite Bistro instead of deck 6 (swapped with Shops)

Crown Bar as Majestic Princess

No Library

Deck 6 - Fiesta

Bar/Lounge no longer called Club 6 - no Dance Floor?

Casino layout as Majestic Princess - no bar or staircase

Photo & Video Gallery, Fine Art Gallery as Majestic Princess

Shops moved down from 7 (swapped with Alfredos)

Captain's Circle as Majestic Princess, but Future Cruise Center moved to next space

Deck 5 - Plaza

Sabatinis called Sabatinis Trattoria

No Celebrations? Called Shops of Princess

You are welcome to add any others.

4th Royal class ship and I guess you have sailed and will sail them all....Majestic had some major changes compared to the Regal and Royal.....it is a big deal for Princess!!

I have absolutely no clue what you are trying to say. I don’t care about tweaks between them, there are four of them, not three.

Since this ship has no Crooners bar, does that mean there is no bar with a piano player?? We always enjoy stopping there at the end of our evenings.

We are booked for the Sky Transatlantic November 2019 from Barcelona to Ft Lauderdale, but we are debating about waiting for the ship to start the Caribbean cruises.

Getting rid of Crooners on the newer Royal-class was a huge mistake. If you’re going to get rid of something, get rid of Princess Live! and replace it with a real lounge. If you need yet another restaurant move The Shops of Princess and put one there, and locate the shops into the area occupied by the Art Gallery. That space is wasted anyways.

Ok Dave, I expect you to get this party started.....:D:D:D

While I was vocal about my dislikes on the Royal, I realized that the Grand/Crown class of ships, and the Pacific aren't getting any younger. Heck, the Emerald which is the first Princess ship I sailed on is 11 years old. In the coming years, many of our favorite ships will be gone to other lines and well have to get use to the Royal class of ships. It would be nice though to see Princess come out with a brand new design. Thing with that though is we wouldn't see anything till probably 2024 or 2025 at the earliest......

They have no incentive to change anything if people keep booking them. Vote with your wallet. I’ll never understand settling for a ship with so many other possibilities. Is free laundry really that important to people?

Yes I am excited, since this ship (unlike Majestic) isn't destined to be home ported in China. I love the Royal & Regal so I'm inherently interested in Sky. While the removal of Crooner's is a head scratcher, I'll reserve judgment until I know all the details about the ship's features. I'm anxiously awaiting for the Dec 2019 schedule from FLL to be announced!

There are definitely pianos in the main Piazza on deck 5 (so you could have a drink at the Piazza Bar, Vines or Bellinis on Sky) and in the Crown Bar.on deck 7. Seemed to be a mix of single piano players and live bands using them on Majestic.
