RCCLNYMETS41 Posted June 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2018 My daughter will be 19 on our next cruise & wants to gamble in the casino. I know she will be asked for ID, especially because she looks 14. Does she need to carry her drivers license, or is her SeaPass card all she needs? (I don't know if a birthdate is something they see when they swipe SeaPass cards)
Foodluvr Posted June 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2018 I would have her carry her driver's license.
klfrodo Posted June 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Drivers License would be best. Also note that if she wins a "Cash Payout" anything over $1199, as a US Citizen, she will be expected to show some ID for tax purposes. Not sure if drivers license is enough. Probably. But wife has had to go back to cabin for passport since she no longer carries around her social security card.
mag19 Posted June 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2018 They asked for my daughter's ID on our last cruise as she is 20 but looks 14 also. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Forums mobile app

cb at sea Posted June 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2018 18 is the age for the casino....gives the "young adults" something to do, if they have the funds! Her DL is the same size as the room key/seapass....not hard to carry. Once they know she's "of age", she probably won't be asked for ID.
SirRedman Posted June 21, 2018 #9 Share Posted June 21, 2018 I'd carry my DL.
geomancer Posted June 21, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2018 I've never seen an adult who looks like a 14 year old. They may ask for ID, but only because of the fuzzy line that 17 or 18 could be, not 14

CRUSINGFAMILY Posted June 22, 2018 #13 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Yes it does matter where the ship is located as to what the casino age is, we did experience this with my son when we were on a transatlantic i believe.

There were always few that still looked they belonged in grammar school. And there were those that looked like they were over 21.

Sail2k Posted June 22, 2018 #17 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Our 19 year old only had to show his seapass card at the casino to verify his age on Oasis in November of last year. Your seapass card has photo and age when they swipe it. He had his I'd out and was told they didn't need to see it. Not sure about other boats, but was fine all week for him. Merion_Mom Posted June 22, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Several young adults have reported on Cruise Critic that their SeaPass was not adequate ID, and they were asked to show their driver's license.

yuvraj Posted June 22, 2018 #25 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Reminds me of the time when my daughter was 19. I gave her $20 to play on the slots. Came back five minutes asking for more cash. She had a job at the time and had brought her own spending money but spending my money seemed like a better idea than spending her own.
