Can't wait. its just how the program works. If you cancel they dont have to scramble to find someone to book your cabin, the can just accept the highest bid.

Barbary27 Posted March 12, 2019 #1630 Share Posted March 12, 2019 Because I paid for this suite 11 months before the royal up program started. They knew that the suite was secured and put it up for bid anyway. OMG How did they upgrade before this program was put into play. Look, I am sorry for starting a big stir up over nothing it is to close to cruise time so lets all have a great cruise and forget this. This is exactly what happens when one is entitled to their own opinion. Have a great cruise I'm done with all of this.

You are aware that no matter how infinitesimal small you think it is, there is a chance that you will not make the cruise and be able to enjoy the room (which is the only room I have ever sailed in on Grandeur). If you happen to cancel, have medical emergency, or otherwise die between now and then....Royal will be able to delight another passenger with an upgrade and now....thanks to the bids they have collected, have a way to determine which of those passengers get delighted ;). I am sailing on Anthem in 30 days. I'm in the Owner's Loft Suite. I wanted to book the royal loft suite, but it was booked and paid in full (I booked through the casino and they were very forth coming with that info when I asked)...but guess what...I got a royal up offer...and you know for sure I put in my bid on the off chance that the people staying in the Royal Loft Suite had to cancel at the last minute. princesslondon Posted March 12, 2019 #1632 Share Posted March 12, 2019 We got the email to try to bid on Royal Up program. We are traveling with our 18YO and her 18YO friend but we are currently booked as one adult and one teen in each room but plan to just switch when we get on board. If I try the Royal up program on our junior suite, which currently holds me and my daughter and I get any sort of larger suite, how will that work or can it even work. Will it still be ok to sleep wherever and will my husband be allowed to use any of the other benefits offered if he is still " technically" in the other room. We also all have The Key if that helps. It appears I can bid on a Grand, Owners, Crown and Aqua Theater.

lbfluffy Posted March 13, 2019 #1636 Share Posted March 13, 2019 I just received this email. I got all my answers about the program from the boards. What I am wondering does this mean no more free significant upgrades? I did receive a slight upgrade from lowest balcony to a higher balcony cabin. Just curious. We have not been on Royal in several years.
Zendeck Posted March 13, 2019 #1637 Share Posted March 13, 2019 Has anyone been upgraded from Sky to Star and if so, did you cancel your drink pkg. I’m thinking we won’t get upgrade but if we did, I would want to return drink pkgs.

I read before if you check royals UK website they will show all rooms available. TAs can also check for sold out. So I am just curious about thosw claiming sold out, how do you know. If you can't book the category, theres a chance it is sold out. Not a fact, but a good guideline. On 3/2/2019 at 4:13 PM, reallyitsmema said: That stinks. We got our emails as we were driving over the GW the day before the cruise. forgotmyCCname Posted March 13, 2019 #1640 Share Posted March 13, 2019 (edited) While I plan on reading all 66 pages at some point, I haven't seen this mentioned from what I have read. Our last cruise in Feb with NCL offered an "upgrade " from our suite to a different suite class. The terms/rules of the upgrade program stated that you were only allowed a 2 category jump in class- i.e. an Inside or OV cannot upgrade thru their bid program to a suite . It seems that Royal is being a little more "generous" with whom they allow to bid on what categories. That being said I cant wait to see if we get an opportunity for Allure in June. We are in GS but there are many, many suites of higher grades still available. Don't know if I will actually bid but I must say that curiosity has gotten ahold of me. NCL started sending upgrade emails about 80 days out ( final payment with them is 120 days for suites) . When does Royal start? Thanks and have a spectacular day! This is where so many people are getting confused. I also was initially confused having done a few NCL upsets. They have no perks associated with your room and you simply keep whatever you booked with. This is far less confusing. I wonder how many people that have say, Central Park, that move to an ov balcony, will be saddened that they no longer have Jamies and wine and spent more. Or are doing the math of the value of star or sky perks in their bid. I initially thought of it as a room upgrade but it could also be a perks upgrade or downgrade. your wording and explanation make it very clear.

Maxie They are definitely a different program but using the same algorithm. Its crazy to me that you can go from an interior to a crown loft RCCL is also more generous, you get the perks of the room. while NCL does not have room perks but area perks, you don't get more perks period. People often think that moving to haven will get them all 5 promo/perks. It doesn't. Whereas if I moved to Star class on RCCL, Ido get all the perks .
