Hello all,

 

I was booked in a large OV balcony midship deck 11 for a cruise in March.  After a few price drops, my fare was a little over $5k (2 adults, 2 kids).

 

Today I saw that they were offering an OV balcony guarantee for approx $3.7k.  I decided to switch and save the money.  I realize we will likely be on deck 6 near the back of the ship with a lifeboat in front of us, but that's Ok...I think...lol.

 

 

I have never cruised RCL before or used the Royal Up option, but I was wondering if I took that $1.3k and bid for a suite upgrade from an OV Balcony guarantee, would that be a reasonable offer?  Anyone with experience in Royal Up offers?

Not a guarantee balcony, but we had a large ocean view balcony for 3 of us and bid $1300 on a crown loft and it was accepted.  I know the room cat has a lot to do with what is offered for Royal Up.  I really think it is hit or miss as far as what is accepted and what is not as well as when it is accepted.  Our December cruise bid was accepted 30 days prior to sailing.

There's no pattern on the amount of money it takes to get an upgrade - way too many variables.

Second sailing of a B2B today.  Got our rejection last night.  We have a balcony.  Bid above the minimum for both a Jr Suite and a GS.  Got neither. It will be a great cruise anyway but the upgrade would have been nice,

Sorry to hear this 😞

 

If I remember correctly, suites had been sold out for this sailing starting today. If that’s any insight, I’m not holding my breath for our sailing on the 1st as upgrades have been sold out for months.

So I don't remember what it was before but on my Dec 1st sailing they added Grand Suite - 2 Bedroom and Grand Suite - 1 Bedroom.  I don't believe these were there before or at least they weren't split between 1 and 2 bedrooms.

I also noticed that on my upcoming December Symphony cruise - they added 2 bedroom GS.  I have two GS booked.  Between both reservations I have a total of 7 bids placed (a few of them were max bids and the others on the lower end of the spectrum).  I have not heard a peep yet and we are now less than 30 days out.

On the 10th November I received an invitation to bid for a Spacious Ocean View Balcony cabin and a Junior Suite for our upcoming Christmas cruise on Jewel. I bid the minimum amount for both £60pp and £180pp

 

Today I received an email to confirm the minimum bid I submitted was accepted, so our upgrade was from an Ocean View Balcony on deck 8 to a Spacious Ocean View Balcony on deck 9.

 

Very happy with this.

dont mind at all, actually thats the type of info i was looking for myself before i placed the bid. 
my cruise booked is the adventure on a 9 day in january. for the first time i took the option that they pick the stateroom for you (interior), so i got the email today for the royalup offer. i had 3 offers to bid on; promenade view interior, min bid $30..ocean view min bid $40.. or ocean balcony min bid $180.
in comparison, i booked the interior at aprox $750 but even the ocean view jumped to $1000 pp, so i made some decent offers and will be thrilled if they get accepted but and the end of the day i originally chose not to spend the extra on the upgraded rooms because we really spend no time in the room other than sleeping so i wasn't going to $250 extra to see some water..
so i threw in some offers and if any get accepted sweet, if not so be it! i will keep you posted if i find out anything!

We just got a RoyalUp this morning also for our Grandeur otS Jan 2020 cruise.

We are in the Ocean View Suite (No Balcony).

the min offers pp are:

OS $700

GS-2br $600

GS-1br $500

The 3 of us are in the room we're in on a Casino JS comp that had no JS available.  The room, 8000, although no balcony, sounds very large and sleeps either 6 or 8 depending on the data source.  We do not plan on making a RoyalUp offer and hope to enjoy a new stateroom on the Grandeur while she is still in the Royal fleet.

to be fair on this one i booked a GTY so there is a possibility im getting a crappy cabin already, secondly, it would be a nicer crappy cabin lol and lastly like ive mentioned above there is no cabin that would ruin my cruise experience, im there for the sun, the food&drinks and the ports where i crash i could literally care less. and also to note my bids were no where near the "strong" categories.. i watch the prices i know them and wouldnt even be bidding near there true value.. if i wanted that price i would have booked it originally

Just received the "Royalup" "win" for our December 15th Oasis cruise.

Ocean View Balcony Bid minimum was $50/person. I bid $115/person.

This was an upgrade on a URComped, fully comped Central Park Balcony cabin.

Very happy. 

Will be a nice surprise for my daughter.

No set time, though I've seen a number of reports of getting the rejection notice a day before the cruise.
