Priority luggage delivery for upper suites?

I am hearing elsewhere about some sort of priority luggage service from the pier to your cabin that applies to Signature Suites and up. Apparently there is a special spot for you to turn over your bags at the pier for this but it's not available at every port. Is anyone familiar with this and if you know if it is available at the San Juan port?

Yes it's Signature, Royal, Penthouse, and Reflection suites only.  On Edge there are additional high end suites, I just don't know the names yet.  The shoreside concierge will give you info on where at the pier to drop your luggage and they take it from you and put it on a special cart and then escort you through the checkin process.  Supposedly it will be in your suite when the suite is available.  I've only used this in Miami so not sure if it is available in San Juan.

I have also given feedback that this would be good to extend to Celebrity Suites as well since they really don't get many extra perks given the price difference from a Sky Suite.  Not being a snob as I certainly sail in Sky Suites more than I do the upper level suites but this one costs them nothing and there aren't that many suites.

Thanks! I’m in a Penthouse in January. Will await the shoreside concierge’s email for instruction. This wasn’t in effect apparently when I was in a Royal in January.

I believe it is called “Special Delivery”, you go to a designated area with your luggage which is “whisked away” and you are escorted through check-in to Michaels Club.  It is my uunderstanding it isn’t available at all  ports .  We are hoping it is in San Antonio, Chile in March but doubt it.  Either way enjoy your Penthouse!

I've used it in a couple of ports.   The shore side concierge will advise you if available and in my case they had pictures of what to look for at the port.    They have a sign that says Special Delivery that points to a porter station to take your luggage.   After dropping off you luggage you go to a Desk with a Special Delivery Sign.    The agent will then escort you from the luggage area around the crowds and to the check in line.   After Checkin a new staff member will escort you to Michael's Club.

I am in a Royal Suite on the Reflection out of Fort Lauderdale on March 11 and received an email alerting me to the "Special Delivery" at the pier.  As has been previously stated they take your bags at this area where you are then escorted through security and check in.  Their goal as they stated to me is to have your bags at your suite shortly after the room is ready.

I had a blowout on my experience in Barcelona.    I went to the "Special Delivery" desk and she said --- oh.. .ok follow me.    Next thing I knew I was going through the x-ray and metal detectors and ended up carrying our bags all the way to Michael's Club.    I'm sure from the descriptions I've read, this wasn't suppose to be the experience I had.   Oh well - didn't have to wait for our luggage.

This was one of the first cruises after they instituted the program and since had no problems.

Also, sometimes it’s not marked well so you might have to walk around to find it. When we left out of terminal 18 at Port Everglades it was a standing sign which we only found after walking back and forth twice. At Miami there’s a specific numbered column you go to beside the special delivery sign. They longshore staff handling the luggage weren’t aware of the special delivery sign in case you need assistance finding it.

Does anyone know if this is available in Vancouver B.C.?

It is suppose to be available at all ports for Signature, Royal and Penthouse and above.   Your shoreside concierge will advise you about it and often includes a picture of what to look for.

We found Barcelona really amusing....We found the ‘special delivery’ area and then had to explain to the gentleman after handing over our luggage that we should now be escorted through security to the desk. He was very grateful for the information as he didn’t know what was supposed to happen other than he had a list of names of ‘VIP’ guests.....

Communication is a wonderful thing....

I'm wondering about Seward.  Last time we sailed out of there on our own, not a cruise tour, there was literally a small shack in the parking lot where they were taking luggage.  Our driver pulled up to this drop off area.

The process in Ft. Lauderdale at T25 was very easy and it was nice to get a picture of where to go. The only issue there was security trying to direct the driver to a specific parking area far from the entrance.  He just stopped the car, popped the trunk and had our luggage out in seconds.

Our last  3 cruises on equinox out of Miami they had the special luggage drop off; The last cruise in Nov 2018 they werent yet ready for us to drop luggage (at 10:30) but at least there was someone there to take it and then arrange to escort us in;

We sailed on Silhouette Mar 23, 2019 out of Fort Lauderdale and they had no idea what to do with RS/PS luggage; However they called over someone who knew to escort us in and it was a breeze... Downside is luggage didnt show up til well after muster, and we werent the only RS lacking luggage..

Not sure about San Juan but probably. The shore side concierge will give you information. Our luggage arrived while we were at the muster drill.

Yes, they had it in San Juan at the Pan American pier last winter.  It was over to the right of the main entrance where the regular check-in lines formed.

They immediately tagged our bags, took them away, and sent us directly to security.

Apparently that is not so unusual.  One time when we were staying in a Celebrity Suite, we checked our luggage in together with some other passengers who were staying in an inside cabin down the hall, and we had priority suite tags put on our luggage.

As you may have guessed, we really got ribbed about it when the people from the inside cabin down the hall received their luggage about an hour before we received ours.

Bayonne - yes.  But as others have reported, at 7pm I found my luggage in a heap down the hall (PH). But my name was on a list, and I was instructed to call if my arrival time changed, which I did, and they were immediately ready with a wheelchair for my mom.  That was much appreciated.

Let me add about Bayonne - the guys directing traffic were reluctant to allow us to drive to the special drop off location, they hadn't heard of it. It is at the far end of the drop off area. Be persistent if necessary.
