Too cold for water activities in Cococay?

I see that the temps in the area seem to be in the high 70's.  As I look at the excursions, I am wondering if I should stay away from swimming/snorkeling because it may be a bit too cold?  Does anyone have experience with activities at this time of year?

Really? For an upstate NYer 70s is too cold? Get the shorts out and enjoy.

LOL!  I didn't say I wouldn't enjoy!  That's beautiful weather!  I actually don't like it too hot.  But, I am bringing my teens and trying to decide if it's worth renting jet ski's and snorkeling.  I don't like swimming in cold water!!  You're funny!

There are too many variables and you won't know how it feels until you are there - besides, the weather could be bad enough for them to cancel the stop.

Oh.  I hope not.  Right now weather is showing partly cloudy and 78 for Christmas Day - which is the day of our stop!  Just curious about water temps and swimming.

The water temp has always been fine for us at Coco Cay, year round.

thank you!  Sea temperature of 79 is not bad.  I guess we will bring our snorkels!  Now just deciding if it's worth it to rent jet skis for one hour for $436.

Not worth it to me.  Plus, all you can do is "follow the leader".

We've had a couple of port stops at  Coco Cay in late January.  

While the air temperture was perfect, the water was a bit on the chilly side for me ... but many others were happily swimming and doing water sports.

Was there this past Jan. and again the beginning of Dec of this year. Snorkeled both time. The water temp is fine. After a few sec. the water you will feels fine. Happy Sailing!!!!

Agree.  We jet ski in Florida all the time and love it.  We did the jet ski excursion in Labadee once and thought it was a waste of time.  Follow the leader is all it is indeed.

WOAH! We have never paid more than $75/hr for a jet ski in the Caribbean--that's highway robbery!

Passenger is cheaper.

 

It is follow the leader, but they set a VERY fast pace.

I did the wave jet excursion in Labadee recently and enjoyed it.  The follow the leader arrangement was fine as I don't think I would have enjoyed going full speed for an hour straight.  In total, you probably get about 15-20 minutes of full speed riding in the hour.  Make sure to book when it's on sale for 25-30% off.

Was in CoCo Cay the 18th, I think the air temp was in the 70's, the water temp seemed chilly when we first got in but after the initial shock the water seemed warm.  As the day approached noon it was actually a bit warm in the full sun.

HIGH 70's is quite warm!  You'll be fine!  If you get hot...get wet.  If you're not hot...don't get wet!  At any rate, the weather will be fine and dandy!

That is warmer than it gets in Rhode Island in the middle of summer.
