The Rotterdam is not in port. Two Royal ships are in its pier spot because they didn’t leave. We were told to come back later, boarding is delayed.

HAL didn’t even have the courtesy to email or contact us. We could have waited at home.

Perhaps you knew of the problem before HAL.

Two RCCL ships still in port, but first is expected to depart at 12.30pm per their Chief Meteorologist twitter account 1145am

Rotterdam not expected to begin embarkation until 7pm but recorded updates every two hours on 1-866-609-8026 code 206-286-3900

Norwegian Pearl and Carnival Miracle also impacted.

If you are close enough to the Tampa port to wait at home, there you must have access to the local TV stations and weather reports.

It was clear on the local Tampa news weather report that heavy fog was to be expected last night into mid to late morning today.  The low visibility (1/2 mile or less) was to extend  for 20-30 miles inland. The same scenario is also expected for tonight.

Sounds like the fog will be heavy by the time today's ships are ready to leave and it will be another overnight in Tampa.

DH works part-time for the cruise lines at the Port of Tampa. It's a very long day for him today because of the fog that closed the Port yesterday and didn't open until later this morning. Two Royal Caribbean ships couldn't leave yesterday and three ships were anchored west of the Sunshine Bridge waiting to enter Tampa Bay. Looks like things are working out, albeit later than usual. I hope passengers are taking things in stride as employees do their best to get passengers where they need to go and get checked in and boarded. Fog is not something the cruise lines can avoid and passenger safety is their main concern. I would imagine air traffic was backed up at the Tampa Airport as well with the foggy conditions.
