Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted February 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2019 THE OLD TIME MIDNIGHT BUFFET? I think this ship needs something extra special that other ships don't have.

BoDidly Posted February 21, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2019 No , not really most of that food was wasted or showed up the next day in some kind of chef special on the buffet. 🤢 1

Seems like a waste. Not many attend at midnight and then alot of those who do only go to look but not really to eat.

It was time to put it down. 2
Rare BlerkOne Posted February 21, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2019 No. I don't want to subsidize more gluttony and food waste. 4
Joebucks Posted February 21, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2019 The Mardi Gras will have the largest selection of food out of any Carnival ship has ever had. Some people need to get out of the past of things that are gone, and focus on what is here. There are reasons why it changed.
Jerseygirl1416 Posted February 21, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2019 No I would never eat that late so that wouldn’t do anything for me but I’d love to see the Mardi Gras get great WiFi and an online reservation system for specialty dining.
KevInPitt Posted February 21, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2019 Nope. Getting rid of the wasteful midnight buffet was probably one of the smartest “cutbacks” many were happy to see eliminated.
gkbiiii Posted February 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 21, 2019 I think they need a grand brunch, for Gold & above. Something like what the Midnight buffets used to be like, but at lunch. Celebrity & Holland America used to have this. Something special, to thank you for your loyalty and to bring you back.

mek Posted February 22, 2019 #12 Share Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) Good god "no" to the Midnight Buffet! Isn't there enough overeating as it is? Edited February 22, 2019 by mek
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted February 22, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) Actually no there is not after 10:30pm. Wouldn't that be something great that Carnival comes up with that no other cruise line has? I am not saying a lavish buffet like it used to be. Deli is open until 11, pizza 24x7, room service for a charge. All the ships have late night eats somewhere, from about 11:30pm to 1am or so.
fabby50 Posted February 22, 2019 #15 Share Posted February 22, 2019 I cruised in the days they had the big midnight buffets - the leftover always ended up on the buffet the next day, looking worse for wear, or turned into soup. Eating that late would give me heartburn, so I too say no to late night eating. A theme brunch would be good - maybe cued to where you're cruising, like if in Mexico, a Mexican brunch with tamales and a margarita bar and appropriate music.
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted February 22, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted February 22, 2019 Pizza is just pizza and the wait is insane, deli closes at 11 so it won't be open when we get there between 11:30-1am and room service, not going to sit in my cabin twiddling my thumbs waiting for food and wasting my night in the cabin. Aren't they going to have some type of sports bar area where they sell food late at night for a fee?
ElCrappyTan Posted February 22, 2019 #17 Share Posted February 22, 2019 No. That is overrated. But I do believe their should be an adults only store on-board.

In terms of bar bites, passengers on Carnival Breeze, Carnival Magic, Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon will find items like coconut shrimp, conch fritters, jerk pulled pork sandwiches and beef sliders with a Caribbean twist -- for an added fee. (Note: The RedFrog Pub is found on other ships in the fleet, but food is not served there, due to lack of galley facilities.) https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=2328 Edited February 22, 2019 by BoDidly 1

bakersdozen12 Posted February 23, 2019 #20 Share Posted February 23, 2019 The last thing I want to do at midnight is eat after eating meals during the day that are much higher in calories than I would eat at home. And I’m always stuffed after dinner. Heck, I’m rarely ever awake at midnight.

soonernstlouis Posted February 23, 2019 #22 Share Posted February 23, 2019 I say they Mardi Gras should have a Fat Tuesday-style parade once each cruise on the main deck. Make it adults-only & throw beads for shirt-lifts.

gkbiiii Posted February 23, 2019 #24 Share Posted February 23, 2019 Leaving Royal as a Diamond/Diamond Plus, you loose so much, it would be nice to find something with some benefits.
