“LIVE” from Symphony of the Seas, March 9, 2019

Recommended Posts

There was quite a bit of conversation on the boards around the seaweed problems in Costa Maya. Our tour driver even brought it up, but our excursion beach in Mahahaul looked pretty good.

Overall, I would rate this excursion a 6 out of 10.

For around $80 per person, it was overpriced for one drink voucher and snacks.

After the whole guacamole and salsa making process, there was about 10 minutes of salsa dancing instruction, and then we were given an hour and a half of free time for the beach and shopping.

When I asked where we could find “beach” chairs, they directed us to an area with white resin “dining” type chairs in the sun [emoji15] wound up “renting” three lounge chairs for the price of three drinks.

Then spent the next hour and a half saying “no, thank you!” to the parade of vendors hawking their wares.

Far from relaxing. [emoji35] thankfully we have Nachi Cocum tomorrow, which never disappoints [emoji3590]

Tonight’s dinner was in the MDR. The waitstaff seemed surprised and happy to see us. [emoji847] No doubt things are slow in there with all the specialty dining options

Service was spectacular. In fact, it reminded me of how much we enjoyed meals in the MDR when we first started sailing Royal years ago [emoji3590]

I think we may finish out the week there.

Thanks for your positive review of the MDR as we are eating there every night on our cruise. I was getting a little worried as I have seen so many people doing most of their dining in the specialty restaurants and giving the MDR less than stellar reviews.

Welcome to day 5 and some morning photos.... Central Park.... one observation....the vegetation is young and not as lush as other Oasis ships. I will try and get some day photos later

I don’t think I’ve been on a ship with a dazzles. Is this another bar? Looks really nice. Thanks

Obviously your Costa Maya excursion was a ship excursion.  Just curious if you know the actually name of the beach club?   Cost seems way over priced for even the 2 AIs along the malecon.  And certainly well over priced for walk up places like Tropicante.

Enjoy your day at Nachi...you desire it.

Yes, ship excursion.... and Agree.... way overpriced. Each beach club (if you want to call them that) were distinct areas but right next to each other. No signs either.

More later....time to head out to Nachi and my happy place. [emoji3590][emoji847]

My phone and iWatch keep resetting to local time, and this is really messing me up. Will be sure to pack a good old fashioned timepiece on my next sailing [emoji6]

Haven't been to Costa Maya since 2011 but we did the day excursion at Maya Chan and it was awesome! loved it - anyone know if they are still in business? Back then it was only $50pp and it was all you could drink, lunch, Covered beach loungers, snorkeling and sand mini golf...great day!

Just do a Google search. Lots of recent positive reviews.

Yes it is another bar/showroom.  From my experience they usually have Filipino cover bands in there.  It is two stories behind the stage is one big window overlooking the Boardwalk.  A really nice space.
