Maritime Master Blaster Posted July 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2019 Does anybody have information about Pacific Princess?
paul929207 Posted July 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2019 Kind of a vague question. It is one of the smallest ships operated by any of the mainline cruise companies. It hold about 670 passengers. This allows her to do itineraries and visit ports that larger ships cannot. As a small ship, you get to know the other passengers and the staff better than on larger ships. On the other hand, it generally offers fewer amenities. For instance, it offers two seatings of traditional dining, but not anytime dining. If you will be more specific, I will try to give you more info.
capriccio Posted July 2, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2019 Welcome to Cruise Critic! It takes a while to learn to navigate the boards but this might help your research: go to the the Princess home page (where all the threads are listed). At the very top of the page there is there is a "See posts about (Select Ship)" link. Click on Pacific Princess and see threads specific to that ship. Then, as Paul recommends, come back and ask more specific questions. There are lots of experienced Pacific Princess cruisers here to provide answers and opinions!
BigGuy25 Posted July 2, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2019 We loved it! Sailed on the small ship’s twice. Once 12 days from French Polynesia to Hawaii and another Mediterranean cruise. Loved everything about the ship and would not hesitate to sail her again. It’s clearly small but is scaled appropriately... dining rooms, buffet, casino, etc. Once aboard, it doesn’t seem that small ... until you dock next to one of the larger ships!! Then you are amazed!! Although we have sailed on most of the Grand Class and half of the Royal Class ships we are finally scheduled to cruise on the Pacific Princess next year and looking forward to it. Last month it completed another two week drydock and I have not seen anyone post any information on any updates since that time. It would be nice if someone who has sailed on her lately would come on this board and post what they have witnessed. Perhaps the changes were minimal or technical since the previous drydock the Pacific received major cosmetic upgrades.
cruisenfreak Posted July 2, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2019 By far our favorite Princess ship! With the small size, fellow passengers quickly become friends.
LSGDRG Posted July 3, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 3, 2019 I thought the Pacific Princess is going to now be based in Australia? This size ship is my least favorite. I prefer a ship with Anytime Dining and more amenities.

This changes a cruise that we are booked on, and we have not been notified by Princess about the change. Reading through the last few pages of that cruise’s Roll Call, neither has anyone else. Cruise itineraries change, of course, and especially when it is almost 18 months out, it’s hard to claim that the loss- which, for most, I would think, is not financial- is an unbearable one. But to publish conflicting information in two different markets is unforgivable.

NSWP Posted July 3, 2019 #14 Share Posted July 3, 2019 (edited) I just received an E Mail from Princess concerning the deployment of PP to Australasia in 20-21. Very expensive cruises though. I was on her in 2015, Sydney to Osaka, Japan. Nice little ships the R Class. Edited July 3, 2019 by NSWP

That's for sure, I found out about it when Mic posted the link to CC's announcement of it on the Aus/Nz board this morning, I then found the itineraries and prices, later this arvo I have received an email from Princess announcing it. I really feel for those booked on the affected cruises, like Jeannie said, things change and it is over a year out but at least advise those that are booked Princess. Just checked the Sydney port schedule and Pacific is booked in for those dates.
caribill Posted July 3, 2019 #16 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Until recently, the Pacific was supposed to do some Cuba itineraries in the future. Maybe this change is due to that no longer being possible.
icat2000 Posted July 3, 2019 #17 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Very sad for all those cruisers who were very excited about the deployed especially the crossing back to the USA. I'm also been receiving notifications from TA's in Australia about the opening for bookings. The Cuba theory could explain why they had to redeploy the ship. OhioDogLover Posted July 3, 2019 #19 Share Posted July 3, 2019 We were on Pacific Princess last summer in the British Isles. It was great and is, by far, my favorite Princess ship. Those in our group agreed with me. The only ship that I've been on that was close was the old Celebrity Century, but I thought the Pacific was nicer. Those who get to cruise on her are very lucky, IMHO. Ohiodoglover
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted July 3, 2019 #20 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Thank you, ChezandAndy, for sending me the email that made me aware of this change!!!! Lots of confusion this morning as some on the roll call say their TA has contacted Princess who says the original itinerary back to Fort Lauderdale is still on. But with the Sydney port schedule showing the Pacific Princess dates, I think this is yet another instance where Princess itself doesn’t know what it’s doing. bbum Posted July 3, 2019 #22 Share Posted July 3, 2019 We are booked on the 35 day cruise to Ft. Lauderdale as well and I just talked to our personal vacation planner at Princess and she said that the 26 day to Sydney isn't in her system and is going to talk to a supervisor and get back to me, so I will update when I hear something. cruzrbachoua Posted July 3, 2019 #23 Share Posted July 3, 2019 We are supposed to be on her for a short trip in May 2021 from LA to Vancouver. I called princess and of course I knew more than the rep...she had no idea of the deployment in Australia and said on her end she was still seeing prices and could book our May cruise...guess we will find out on or about 7/11 (elites) or 7/12 rest of us if our cruises will go or are they going to try to stick her there just for that short break of December to April...while we are suffering no monetary loss we are/will be upset as we were just excited about experiencing the ship itself being smaller...it was to be a trial run to see if DH could handle a river cruise with smaller venues and not as much entertainment....keeping my fingers crossed!! I'm so sorry for you and all of the folks who were going to cruise from Tahiti back to Ft. TwoCruisers Posted July 3, 2019 #25 Share Posted July 3, 2019 I’m also shocked about the Pacific Princess moving. I’m glad that we finally did the 14 day Christmas and New Year’s cruise that has been done only once per year. We enjoyed the smaller ship. It was a real treat that it could get into the smaller islands. I was surprised about never having crowds to fight. Make sure you bring a sweater since the dining room and the forward Pacific Lounge were always cold.
