Rare Jamman54 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #251 Share Posted October 24, 2019 The Captain then turned the ship south to give us a good look at Ellis Island….. This is one of the many tour boats returning from the Statue of Liberty….. The “Beast” puts on a show for us….. Captain Renda then sailed as close to the Statue of Liberty as he could to give us awesome views of Lady Liberty….. To be continued…..

Rare Jamman54 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #253 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Here are some more views of Lady Liberty as we sailed by….. We are now leaving Manhattan behind….. The Celebrity Summit is docked at Port Liberty (Bayonne, New Jersey). She will be sailing shortly….. A couple of our Cruise Critic friends are enjoying the views….. We are now approaching the Verrazano Narrows Bridge…… To be continued…….
Rare Jamman54 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #254 Share Posted October 24, 2019 We are now going under the VNB….. We made it! Goodbye New York, we’ll see you in a week….. Rare Jamman54 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #255 Share Posted October 24, 2019 It’s time to go to dinner now. As I mentioned earlier, we will be at the same table and have the same wait staff that we had the previous cruise. Here are tonight’s menus….. Patti started with the roasted tomato soup and a Caesar salad….. I started with a shrimp cocktail and the poutine duck….. For her main Patti had the flat iron steak with a baked potato, while I enjoyed the seared beef brisket….. Like clockwork Yoki appears at our table, and that can mean only one thing. It’s shot time! To be continued…..
Rare Jamman54 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #256 Share Posted October 24, 2019 For dessert Patti had the tiramisu, and I had a banana split….. Here is the Entertainment Schedule for the week….. Our plan was to go to the 8:30 pm comedy show. We got there at 8:10, and it was already SRO. We decided to skip it and head to the Red Frog Pub for a drink and to watch the instrumental grooves with the Hip Stars….. We then went to the Liquid Lounge to watch the Welcome Aboard Show hosted by Mikey, which was a hoot. We had no trouble finding seats on the floor….. Afterwards, we decided to call it a night. This cruise was off to a great start! Coming up next: Back out at sea again!
bnbeyer Posted October 24, 2019 #257 Share Posted October 24, 2019 I've just been reading to this point, but I wanted to tell you that I'm really enjoying your review. The styles and interests shown on the various reviews on this forum are amazing, and in so many ways, reading the diversity makes it so much more complete! I wish my husband enjoyed cruising as much as you two. Though I think I could possibly talk him into a B2B on a one way (and then the other way) Mediterranean cruise for our 20 year anniversary. I just hope I have as many casino offers then as I do right now!

Sherri914 Posted October 24, 2019 #260 Share Posted October 24, 2019 I've never been on a Carnival cruise. We've always been loyal to Royal. This review has made me think that a Carnival Sunrise cruise may be on the horizon for us. The ship looks beautiful and looks like a great time! I can't wait for the NE/Canada leg of this review.

That is a strange looking poutine to me 🤔I thought poutine was fries, gravy, and cheese curds. I'm guessing the potatoes are buried underneath, but it looks like cottage cheese and salad with some duck. I hope it was tasty though. 13 hours ago, Jamman54 said: Like clockwork Yoki appears at our table, and that can mean only one thing. It’s shot time! I have a question about the shots, which I remember being asked but not clearly answered on another thread. Do you pay the full price for the shot & glass (I thought souvenir glasses weren't covered by Cheers) or are you able to take the shot at just shot price (or included in Cheers) and return the glass at no charge for it? The glasses are cute - I have two at home holding some decorative glass beads - but 2 per night on a cruise would both get pricy for me and I wouldn't have the room to display them 😉 13 hours ago, Jamman54 said: I loved Mikey's suits 😄 This picture is great that he looks so serious in that outfit. The shots were $10 each and you keep the shot glass which came in half a dozen different colors. We collected them all. We didn't have Cheers so I don't know if they were included in the program. We enjoyed Mikey as well. 😎 52 minutes ago, richbum said: On our last cruise...you got to keep the shot glasses...can you still do that? Oh yeah! Yes, you do have to attend the muster drill even if you are on a back to back. We were pleasantly surprised that when we did our B2B on QM2 in July we only had to go to the drill on the first leg. They said we were welcome to go again on the second leg if we wanted.😀 You have great photos of sailaway. All the sailings we've done from NYC and I never get tired of it.

That was nice that you didn't have to go twice to the muster drill. NYC has the best sail away hands down. Of course I may be a bit biased since it's our homeport.😀

Sorry for any confusion. I think it is standard to keep the glasses (we did too), I just saw a post recently where people were asking about an option to pay less for the shots or having it covered by Cheers with not keeping the glass. 16 hours ago, Jamman54 said: I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the duck. It didn't look bad, just not what I expected 🙂 Thank you for your feedback on the glasses. I'm glad you have a use for yours, the boxes were a nice touch. I assumed you had Cheers with as often as I see a drink in your pictures. We don't get Cheers either, but I'm pretty sure the shots would not be included due to the souvenir glass exclusion.

Rare Jamman54 Posted October 25, 2019 Author #273 Share Posted October 25, 2019 Day # 8 – 9/23/19 - First Sea Day of the Cruise. We got up at 7 am to a beautiful sunny day. Temperatures are expected to reach 77 degrees today, which is not bad for late September. Here are today’s Fun Times….. We went to the Morning Show where today Tyler, Mikey, and Pablo were holding court….. Shopping expert Raeden soon joined them promoting this week’s cruise wear sale….. Signing off at the end of the show….. To be continued…..
Rare Jamman54 Posted October 25, 2019 Author #274 Share Posted October 25, 2019 Our next stop was the Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle which was being held at Piano Bar 88….. Snacks, coffee, tea, and juice were provided….. About half of those who signed up attended, which is better than usual. No one from Carnival stopped by, but that was okay since this group really engaged with one another. We sat or stood in a circle and everybody introduced themselves, and a lively session of sharing experiences occurred. It was really awesome. In addition we had some special guests with us. Doug Parker from Cruise Radio was there, along with Richard Simms, who is a frequent contributor to Cruise Radio and is also the executive editor of Soaps in Depth Magazine. Ashley, who works for Cruise Critic, but I forget in what capacity, was also there with us. Here is part of the group during our lively discussions….. We stayed at the Meet & Mingle until we were basically thrown out because another group had booked the space. Patti took this group shot, which was missing a few people that had to leave early….. After leaving the Meet & Mingle I went up to the Red Fog Rum Bar to visit my buds, while Patti walked around a little. The turnout for Seuss a Palooza was pretty light as there weren’t many children aboard the ship this week….. To be continued……
Rare Jamman54 Posted October 25, 2019 Author #275 Share Posted October 25, 2019 This map shows that we are heading up to Halifax….. Patti heads through the Market Place and sees that they are setting up the cakes at the Sweet Spot….. Patti meets me at the Red Frog Rum Bar just as they are starting the Very Hairy Chest Contest, hosted by Mikey….. I have no words for any of the following pictures….. To be continued…..
