Rare MMDown Under Posted October 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Early December before summer school holidays or March-April, outside Easter school holidays.
Russell21 Posted October 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Your choice of cruise company will have an influence on the number of children. From my experience even in non holiday times is that P&O and Carnival have more kids than Princess, and Princess is not usually totally devoid of kids. Rare lyndarra Posted October 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Cruised NZ on Carnival and Princess once each during school summer break. Many kids but they weren't a problem. Fewer on Celebrity or RCI and they are so well catered for you don't notice them. HAL would have fewer kids than most. I've no experience with P&O. Princess usually has fewer than RCL. RCL has more children than most as it has more onboard range of activities for children than most others. IMO, January and February are the optimal time weather wise, as it is still school holidays in Jan, that leaves February. As mentioned, the cruise line, itinerary and ship are all factors which affect how many kids will be aboard and also how many you may even see. X, HAL and Princess will have considerably less kids than P&O, Carnival and Royal. However the kids clubs are also very good on all these ships, so you may not see that many in any case.
