For example, a steward who currently has 17 cabins to manage might be able to take care of 18 if he knew from a broad scale who has left their cabin vice checking each one individually

True. According to the updated FAQ, housekeeping (once per day) will wait to enter 15 minutes after you've left your room. Seems like the medallion will be quite useful for cruise management.

Finding my wife - or her being able to find me - seems like a good thing to me. However, I also look forward to being able to open the door without having to dig out my card when my I've gone to get my wife a plate of cookies...

I KNOW you know this, but you conflated using the MC App (friend finder) with using the Medallion (opening door).

My bad...

HI,

Have to ping you somewhere.  Another poster gave me the clue to bring light into the darkroom (ever play that game?).  Anyway, I really feel dumb as the clue was staring me right in the face all along.

My wife is to the left where we appear together.  I just logged in as her a few minutes ago, and lo and behold!!!  I have access to all the Blue Lane stuff.  Our Personal Info, the Passage Contract and Covid-19 - which I checked off to GREEN for each of us.  The other stuff is there from prior Medallion voyage(s).  We now have Blue Lane Steps 1-3 completed!!!  Do not expect 4 for sometime (Arrival Groups) and of course #5 Health is right before sailing.

Could it be you have some problem?  This is annoying as I am always booked in first position since I handle all travel arrangements and deal with Princess.  She is the tag-along.  But, they must have converted the booking into MC App reversing us.  I will have to see if I can get that corrected.

IDK when this functionality will have worked because have not tried her login for sometime and I know it didn't help sometime back - perhaps prior to the latest release???

Anyway, wondering if this helps you or anyone else who is used to being the master of the booking and now it is actually the cabinmate in MC App?

I am sorry if this has been asked and answered but this is a very long thread. I usually enter everything into the cruise personalizor for dh and me. My cell phone is too old to get the app. Cruise isn't until April 2023 so I will wait until fall of 2022 to replace my phone. Dh has a newer phone so could download the app. Can he enter information for both of us now and when I get my new phone and am able to download the app will I be able to see info for us both? Can we use the same email address or will we need separate ones?

YES, one device is sufficient because you can login as either person on that device.  A key to success may be to make sure to login as the lead booker.  Whoever Princess has converted into the MC App as the "lead" should be logging in to try and complete the Travel Info in OceanReady section of the App.  I found I was getting nowhere but then realized Princess has put my wife first and so when I logged in as her, eureka!!  Now, my wife can be first in all other ways, but I need to be first with Princess bookings as I handle all travel arrangements.

But you still have to have a free hand to unlatch the door.  It is a misnomer to say that it opens the door.

Oh man - this is getting annoying.  So, after logging in as my wife and getting OceanReady Step 1 thru 3 completed Green for our two logical voyages, and seeing the OceanReady status change from BLUE Lane to GREEN Lane, after logging out and back in again as my wife, now back to BLUE Lane with only Medallions checked and when tapping on Personal Info Step 1, I am getting the "All Hands on Tech' error.  Could be down/off-line for work (unannounced).  Could be something else.  But how did it work for several minutes ago to fix everything and now - nothing?

When I logged back in as me (after setting up OceanReady under wife's ID), I had same behavior from MC App - no data and "All Hands on Tech".

SO, I guess see what it looks like tomorrow.

Apparently my wife doesn't have a MC login. Her Princess login doesn't work. I tried logging in as her with the booking number. Using the booking number, her name, and her birth date it says the information is incorrect. I then tried using the booking number and my info. Same thing. I can log in using my name and password but her Princess password doesn't work.

Oh, wait...NOW, even though it said my information was incorrect with the booking number, I am suddenly logged in but there is a previously cancelled cruise listed. I logged out and then logged back in using my email and password. The cancelled cruise is still there. Of course everything else is the same in that nothing works.

I wonder how I can get my wife logged in. Any idea how to make a MC account for her?  I "think" I made mine with the old app or maybe on ocean.com.  I can't remember. It's late and I'm tired. Poop on it.

I managed to down load Medallion on my tablet but I can't seem to get even #1 in the blue lane.  I check almost every day but it continues to say, "All hands on Tech" every time.  Can't even get my husband a new password on his account because he hasn't used it for years and can't remember his old password.  Because I only get the "All hands on Tech" message, does it sound like it may not work on my tablet and if not, how was I able to DL the app?

Opening the door, cabin steward knowing no one is in the cabin, finding a friend really has very little to do with the medallion class app. The cabin door unlocks by reading the medallion. We had very similar tech way back in the 1990's when we waved our employer badge to enter the building. The cabin steward can read your location on a tablet and know if you, or really if your medallion, is inside the cabin. No medallion class app needed. Finding a friend can be done using the large screens around the ship. Again app not required. But in this case if you carry your device you can locate the friend without going to the screen.

The thing I don't like is that all this pre-immigration, boarding, dining information can now only be done on the phone. Eliminating the cruise personlizer I think was a mistake.

Or standing behind someone when in line to get off the ship and hear, "my card is here somewhere".

I'm still amazed at the arrogance of the position Princess now has.  Given how many seniors don't even have smart phones or tablets I cannot believe they are preventing people from going on their cruises unless you go out and get one.  I don't want a smart phone and if Princess says I must have one in order to board, then it's time we part ways.  And I'm reasonably sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Last time I went through all this angst getting my medallion, Princess had a backup plan where you could check in at the terminal and get your medallion.  I didn't end up needing to do that, but when I got to the terminal there were plenty of people waiting to check in at the counter.

I've been trying to use DH's sign in for our cruises with minimal success getting it to work. Gave your idea a try. Nope!

When I try my log in, it doesn't recognize me using password or booking #.

Guess I'm still waiting for the next upgrade.

!!! From your lips (or fingers in this case) to Princess' ears.

Hello, Princess!!! Do you hear us out there?

Radiqal Gaming

If I go into the app to reserve specialty dining, it wants payment - fair enough. In the past I entered CC info into the Personalizer but that's no longer an optio I believe. The authorization disclosure in  the MC app is for Radiqal Gaming. A little online research shows that this appears to be a small SW development shop that has worked on Carnival Corp's Casino Management and Accounting System.

It would appear that Princess is using this as the payment system tied to the MC app?

Anyone know if this is the case? Is this a recent change?

Friday... back to argggh.  So, logging in as wife or using booking code her bd and name... OceanReady back to one green check for Medallions and All Hands on Tech error msg.  But I would like to ASSUME the data is all in there now.  Back in the Blue Lane - not the Green Lane.

Same story if I login as me.

Have the ghost cruise on Pacific that showed up and may go away tbis wknd.

It doesn't know my wife either by login or booking number. Logging into her account on the Princess web site works perfectly. Just can't get her logged into the app.

Big thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my questions!

We have decided to book a Southern Caribbean cruise aboard Regal Princess in early January 2022, and it's looking more likely that it's just going to be my mom and I. In conversation with my mom, it seems as if she is somewhat intrigued to use the technology (the Medallion itself was previewed on her 2019 Royal Princess cruise) so that's positive.

Do each of you have separate e-mail addresses? We had to set up separate e-mail addresses, even though we both use the same one.

suggest if you get green checks saying your ocean ready; take a screenshot with your phone; you can use that with code to use at port.  I was on ocean medallion cruise in 2019 on Caribbean Princess and both my wife and I got the green checks; so we took screenshots and showed that at port.  No issues.  BTW, a week after we got the green checks, one turned back to not ready.  Glad we  took a screenshot
