How many pinnacle members......lol

From a thread on Royal where I asked:

" Last I heard there were over 5000 Pinnacle members. "

I still think there are fewer than 400 Zeniths and perhaps no more than 10% have ever been on the same sailing.... but the numbers are increasing rapidly compared to the original number of 46 when the program started in 2013 (according to one Z)

There might have been 600 Pinnacle on a RC President’s Cruise but there weren’t 600 Zenith

on ant Celebrity President’s Cruise.

On a 10 to one ratio, I don't believe there have even been close to 60 Zs on a cruise, perhaps not even half that to be with the X prez.

Without a doubt the person (Bob) who you got the answer from is a very reliable RC source.

I've never been on a cruise with more than 28 Zeniths. I've been on many TAs and 2 President's cruises. The usual number is 6-8 on my cruises and DW and I have experienced being the only Zeniths on a cruise.

Surely the more interesting question would be how many elite plus members... just thinking as that’s the highest most will ever get too, and also would be interesting to know how many make this level each year...

If you consider the 28 average Zenith passengers added to Michaels Club/Retreat with spouses and families it leads to crowded conditions.   One reason we have switched to Azamara and Seabourn.

28 Zenith is NOT the average.  Normally, maybe 6 on a cruise, often less.  Furthermore, while their spouses are likely Zenith as well (and thus included in the usual "less than 6 people) , their families, would not have access to the retreat or Michael's Club.  That being said, if you like another cruise line, that's the best choice for you, regardless of the reason.

Most Zenith members I've heard mentioned on CC for any single cruise is in the mid 20's.

Yes.   The largest we have been part of was 24 on a TA.   The Captain asked at lunch if anyone knew how many there were as he didn't know.

As Harris indicated above.  The average added to Michael's Club would not be as high as suggested as many of the Zenith's travel in Suites.      I've also been on a couple cruises with heave Zenith attendance that if we weren't in the Retreat the Retreat would have been mostly empty.

I've found that the biggest effect on Retreat popularity are repositioning cruises where most Suite Guests don't have a drink package.    Really doesn't affect Zenith's as we get Premium Drink Packages and can grab a drink anywhere.

There are really only 3 levels. Super Duper, Duper and Sub Duper. Zenith/Pinnacles are Super Dupers. Elite/Diamonds and +s are  Dupers. Anything below Elite/Diamond are Sub Dupers.  Of course money talks so expensive suite guests who pay enough without the requisite number of points are honorary Super Dupers.

Super Dupers generally stick with their own kind but may occasionally interact with Dupers.  Dupers can interact with either Supers or Sub Dupers.  Sub Dupers pretty much stick to themselves but may interact with Dupers in their quest to become full fledged Dupers.

It might be more interesting but a number that cannot be determined.  On any given cruise, a Zenith will often (not always) meet all the other Zeniths onboard.  There are so many Elites and Elite + on some sailings that one would never meet them all.  There is a special induction on the bridge when one makes Zenith and other Zs are normally invited.  I would not know how many Zeniths have reached that level in Asia or Australia or on Azamara.  There are also Blue Chip members who have made Zenith by "investing" in the casino rather than "paying" for their cruises.

I've been Zenith since a few months after the program was announced and I can tell you that Celebrity keeps the number highly confidential.

But why?

It is not like a competitor can come along and steal them.

They try. We get multiple Oceania brochures every week !!!! My entire family were Zenith (100+ credits) several years before they created the level in 2013. I would like to see a Zenith Plus level at 7500 points (same 2.5X factor as Elite Plus) !!!

As do we from all the upper lines and we are a long way from Zenith.  Today was Crystal and Regent.  On any given day there are quite a number.

We’ve had the pleasure of meeting you and your family on a few cruises, what a nice bunch you all are.  Katie

members and allowing for those who don't report my guess is that 500 is very high.I think that 300 would be a closer number.

I started sailing X shortly before the new point system, so I don't really know much about how the CC program worked before.  Would you mind explaining how someone achieved Zenith a few months after the program was announced?  Just curious.

Thank you.

The old system worked on more of a per cruise, rather than a per night basis, and did little to reward more money spent:

Before November 25, 2013 members earned one loyalty credit for each of the following scenarios:

  • Sailing on any cruise
  • Sailing on any itinerary of 12 nights or longer, including Cruise Tours (applicable to sailings on or after January 1, 2003)
  • Sailing in a Concierge Class stateroom, Aqua Class stateroom or Suite (applicable to sailings on or after January 1, 2004)

On November 25, 2013 Captain’s Club converted from awarding credits to awarding Club Points based on number of nights and stateroom category. Credits earned prior to this date were converted to Club Points at a rate of 1 credit to 30 Club Points.

(Bold text copied and pasted from the Celebrity Website)

Prior to that date, the program had only three tiers, Classic, Select and Elite.  Classic was after the first cruise (at least one point).  Select was after five points were earned, and Elite was after ten points were earned.

There were a few cruisers then that had over 100 points, but there was no Captain's Club level to specifically recognize them, although there would typically be some acknowledgement of the milestone on board.

With the change to the new point system, there also came the creation of the two new levels, Elite Plus and Zenith.  If a person had 25 or more points under the old system, that was converted to 750 or more in the new, and they became Elite Plus on the day the new system went into effect.  Likewise those with 100 or more points under the old system, were converted to 3000 or more under the new, and became Zenith that day.

The poster above likely had nearly 100 "old" points, and a few months after the change: and hence the creation of the Zenith level, they earned the remainder of the 3000 points needed.

For those of us that were around on November 25, 2013, we recall that 32 seconds after the changes were announced, complaining about the lack of a level between Elite Plus and Zenith began; and 12 seconds after that the complaints of why this, that or the other benefit wasn't included; instead of those that were.  🙂

Interested to hear what extra benefit they could give you other than use of Luminae or speciality dinning. Use of Luminae would be an interesting add on I think.

They do try...

Week after week I get a deluge of Oceania and Regent--sister companies; I haven't cruised with either-- brochures too...  And no matter how many calls I have made to both in an attempt to stop the insanity, my repeated requests have not been honored...

Since neither seems to respect the wishes of a highly-traveled prospective guest, neither seems to care about maximizing the potential of their advertising spend, and neither has displayed an ounce of ability to manage something so simple as a mailing list--I've tried all angles--I long ago decided that they'll never get my business...  Their mail goes straight to the trash...

In early 2019 they eliminated the top cruiser free specialty restaurant visit (one per cruise). That could be a Z+ perk.

Complementary Blu (and / or Luminae) access would be a nice perk.

I don't think there are more than 10-20 people worldwide who have 7500 points currently so it would not have much affect on Blu / Luminae.

While we will be close to the 3,000 mark after our booked cruises (as long as the Azamara one in October happens) I do not see us ever reaching something like 7,500 points. It will have taken the best part of 10 years to get to 3,000.

During a cruise I will usually talk with the Capt Club Hostess and ask how many Zeniths are on board most of the time they say none. They do willing give me the numbers of Elites & Elite-Plus members onboard. I would go with a low number.

After 10 years of cruising with Celebrity my April Reflection Trans-Atlantic we will be Elite-Plus. That seemed to take an eternity 🙂
