Refund Status for canceled cruises: Retitled after merges

Here's the real farce of "Future Cruise Credits".  Princess canceled our cruise 3 days before its departure in March and actually offered us our money back plus 100% FCC.  After a long tortuous wait (like everyone else), we finally got a refund on our credit card and we now have 100% FCC with Princess.  So, you would think that now we are all set, right?

Well, today I looked at booking the same cruise in 2022 and GUESS WHAT!  The same cabin in the same category on the same itinerary now costs twice what I paid in March!  So, after all of the torture, absolutely nothing was gained.

Folks...this whole thing is one entire scam!

Yea - that is one benefit of Royal Caribbean's "lift and shift" or something like that. They protect the price and benefits and move you to a similar cruise. There is still a chance that your price may come down on the Princess cruise. Keep checking.

Our TA informed us yesterday that they have our refunded deposit for the Sep 18th Around Australia cruise. We booked this cruise in Feb using a local TA as we could not get through to Princess on their website or using the cruise holiday planner. Although the cruise is not "officially" cancelled by Princess and still shows as one of the 38 cruises they are selling in the Australia/NZ region until the end of 2020. We asked the TA to cancel in mid June before the final payment was due as we don't believe that this cruise or any of the other 37 cruises will happen this year. The TA has been brilliant and we will definitely use her again.

Still waiting on resolution for our partially refunded May 12th Half World cruise (full amount paid) and anything on our July 15th Around UK cruise (only deposit paid) from Princess but we do now realise that the order of the Princess refund process seems haphazard at best.

Maybe next week but we remain ever hopeful and patient.

I am still waiting on ANYTHING from Princess for my March 14th sailing. I have disputed with my credit card so no longer in contact with them for this..BUT

I also has another sailing cancelled for August, I had only paid deposit so requested the double deposit FCC, They refunded my card. Ironic, since they haven't managed to refund a MARCH sailing but refunded an AUGUST sailing that I requested FCC, I was done. I submitted a complaint via Better Business Bureau about the incompetence and got this response:

To Whom It May Concern:

We regret to learn of Ms. XXXXXX dissatisfaction with Future Cruise Credit offer. This offer was only available to those who had paid their booking in full. Our records confirm we only received the deposit of US $74. Based on this information we are not able to accommodate Ms. XXXXX request.

REALLY????? The Double Deposit was specifically for those NOT paid in full? I honestly feel like Princess has lost it at this point?

I love it when they give an answer  that  compounds their incompetence.

We are close now to getting all our refunds from 10 March cruise

I believe our TA has has received it so early next week🤞🤞

The refund is still wrong but is in our favour and as they wont

supply  the figures they are using I am just leaving it.

The cash is correct but  it looks like they have converted our

Port fees & Tax into FCC  - wasnt happy with that but I think

they have  given both of us the PT&E for 2 people. so we

have something like £300 each in FCC  more than we were expecting.  As they control the FCCs I keep looking to see if

they have clawed it back.

If you had paid your cruise in full - I think you got 125% of your cruise in FCC.

My sister had a big Europe trip with land trip. She had been making payments but had not paid her cruise off. She made out big time, much better than I did (with Pause 1) and much better than if she had paid her cruise off. It makes no sense.

It is more of a holding account. FCC can only be applied to cruise fare. The Holding Account is for "other things such as taxes and fees and if you have insurance, etc..."

In the US, we can request this as a refund if we want.

Not in our case !   our refund is 85% of base fare Cash 85%

FCC The cash is correct but the FCC is  around £600 more

PP. than the cash.  At first I thought they had just converted the

PF&T to FCC but our PF&T was only £400 PP to start with.

We had no  ROBC and no excursions so I have no idea what

it is unless as I said instead of splitting the PF&T  ( say £600

of the original £800)  between the two of us they have given

£600 as FCC to each of us in error.

As others have said they do not provide a list so I am quitting while we are ahead.  After all:

"For those inquiring about voyage refunds, they are being handled manually and accurately in sailing date order priority.  We are committed to providing our guests with the highest level of service."

Yep - just keep repeating that. My refund is also wrong (and short).

OK - that is weird how they did yours.

FYI, my FCC and 25% goodwell FCC for my June Star SFO-SFO to Alaska, cancelled April 14 by Princess came through yesterday, depriving me of the opportunity to join the 100-day club.  The excursion and dining refunds arrived on my credit card June 26.  No sign of taxes, port fees or gratuity refunds yet (maybe I can join the 100-day club this way, LOL.)  For the record, I have not made any calls to Princess regarding this cruise, or disputed anything on my credit card.

Panama Canal Cruise was cancelled Back in March with everyone else, sailing was for March 27.  We chose option 1, FCC / goodwill added to account in April.  A few phone calls and chats on their website were made.  Prepaid gratuities and OBC refunded to credit card June 26, after another chat on their website was told airfare, port taxes and transfers were being looked at May 25.  Finally came thru on credit card July 10.  Got everything back and it’s all correct.  Thanks Princess!

On Day 112, I have finally received my airfare/baggage reimbursement for our cancelled-in-transit world cruise on Pacific Princess that began Jan 20 and ended Mar 21.

Although I was told multiple times to expect this as a check in the mail, it showed up as a credit on a card that was a) not the card I used to purchase the airfare, b) not the card on file to pay my onboard account, c) not the card I last used to pay cruise fare, and d) not the card to which my cruise fare was previously refunded.

Instead, it was a card I had once used in 2019 to make a payment on cruise fare, and never used with Princess again.

So the moral of this story is, if you're expecting money from Princess, check all your credit cards! You never know where the Magic 8 Ball they're spinning over there has told them to put your refunds.

Still waiting on my OBC refund.

Yeah- finally received the last of my refund yesterday- 118 days later- on my May 2020 Panama Canal Cruise.  I cancelled one day before Princess did- but my PVP held it over 1 day (she must have known what was going on) so I should have been one of the first in the que!  Opted for cash + FCC.  Finally after 60 days put in a dispute on my credit card- Princess finally resolved that issue June 4- almost 90 days!  Part was paid with gift cards, which I was told (in the first written a written e-mail & in 3 other phone calls) that I could get a check back.  That is what came yesterday- 118 days later!

Got a great deal on a May 2021 cruise to use my FCC but I don't even look at the ads or e-mails anymore until they start cruising again.

Our cruise was cancelled half way through the cruise in South America on March 19th, and we still have not received our refund for the additional half of the cruise we missed and paid for or the flight home from Argentina which Princess told us to book. Well, just waiting I guess, but we have been offered the chance to book other cruises in 2021 by the agent at Princess, not sure how that is suppose to happen. i explained to her that we need our money back before we book anything else.

So are you saying you had Princess gift cards returned in the form of a check back to you?

we must of been booked on the same cruise. I’m still waiting too.
my future cruise credits are showing, but no cash. Ridiculous.

We were on the Star, SFO to SFO, May 3rd.  There Is NO rhyme or reason to the refund timeline.  I read a post here of someone who was on the same cruise a month later and they’ve gotten their refund.  Obviously it’s not in “date-of-Cruise” order.  I’ve been told at least twice that a rush had been put on it (over the last 3 weeks).  After talking to my Princess Cruise planner last week, she asked me to give them till the 21st. After that I will dispute on my CC if I haven’t received the refund.   Aggravatingly ridiculous!

If you are thinking of me (June 12, Star SFO to SFO) I did receive refunds for shore excursions and dining, and FCC and bonus FCC, but no refund yet for port fees and taxes or for prepaid gratuities.  Did you request a pure refund as opposed to taking the FCC option?  I wonder if pure refunds are taking longer?

Did you receive FCC's and are waiting for the refund part, or did you request a pure refund with no FCC's?

Could be.. I am waiting for the full refund.  Could be that’s the problem.
