Rereading the email, it looks as if it would only have gone to those that chose option 2 in the hope to persuade them to choose option 1 instead. This worries me - do they have to do this due to lack of money to process refunds?

could be...now however is not the time to push that...people are not happy with the delay so will see this a deflection of getting the refunds done.

hoping June 1 brings some $$$

Maybe only those...or some of those who chose Option 2 got the email...maybe Princess wants to tempt us to pick Option 1 instead.

Nope,  I didn't get the email and I picked option #2.... I am getting more and more concerned too

Just received FCCs for our cancelled 04/04/20 Ruby 35 day TP. We selected Option #2 and it appears we were somehow switched to Option #1. Hope this is only a temporary situation. So far no cash refund back to credit card.;;;;;;; Why am I starting to think that our chances of getting our cash back would be much easier to get in a Princess casino? TA and Princess reps just keep giving us the yeah yeas.....

Well that has now scared the c**p out of me!  I was on that same trip, beginning 1 of 3 b2bs!  Nothing yet for us except for the May 9 fcc for husband and I, with filing for this 15 min after receipt of March 12 pause.  We requested Option 2, as this was penthouse accomodations, owners suites for all 3.  Hoping to see refunds soon.  Otherwise disputes we head.  I feel might have better chance in Judge Wapner's courtroom.

I received the same email today. I am sticking with the full refund as I want nothing more to do with Princess. Had I booked with my normal provider (Royal Caribbean) I would have my refund as many of my friends over there have already got their refunds for May cruises.

My mistake for wanting to take a Mexican Rivera cruise. 🤬

Aaaghh so now I'm even more confused. My client just forwarded me the email - she received it from Princess today, too. Confusing because she chose option 1 on March 12th and already had her refundable amounts back in 4 days of me cancelling her cruise. No FCCs as yet. GAH

I received my full refund from Carnival, too. And that sailing was after the Princess one!

Would have been nice to meet you all onboard! 🙂 We are 'only' on the hook for about $10,000 on this one. No refund from Delta either, same exact spiel from them, as we were cancelled by them as well. Good luck all. But, I am not feeling too good about this, considering NCLs situation.

Hi everyone, I’m having terrible trouble getting our money back from Iglu cruises,  I’m at a loss, first they said 2 weeks, then wait 28 days , now 60 days.  We are coming up to the 60 days mark and I’m no where near to getting anything.  I just wonder if anyone has any ideas  please .  Thank you

Assuming you have read though some of this thread you will be aware that almost no-one (less than5) have had  cash refunds from Princess.   It follows that your TA  is unlikely to have had funds from Princess either.

It would help if you said which ship, cruise date,  date you cancelled which option you took, have you had any contact with Princess?  etc etc then someone might be in a similar position and can comment better.

One hold up is that whilst your claim is via Princess UK  it goes back and

forth to the US for consideration.

I filed a dispute with my credit card company some time ago and received a provisional credit to my account.  The clock with the credit card company started running on that day and the merchant has a certain period to repond or the credit card company will automatically credit the account.  At least that's what happened last time I had to file a dispute and a Mr. Patel who overcharged me at his hotel never bothered to respond.  When the credit card company's clock ran out, I received a full credit for the overcharge.

If Princess is hoping to reset their refund clock with yesterday's email, all the better for me since the credit card company's clock is still running.

I guess time will tell.....no pun intended.

I received the new e-mail today (I chose option2).  It was only for one of my two back to back cruises, the second one.  I hope they didn't lose the other one.  It looks like Princess will do nothing until May 31.

P.S. At that point they will extend the deadline again.

I got my deposit refund this morning to my credit card -- yay!  Been waiting since we cancelled March 18th.  Now granted, this was for a cruise later this year and NOT part of the 'pause', but we were still told we'd have to wait 60 days.  Now we wait for $$$ in shore excursions to be refunded.

I filed cc dispute last week on our early May cruise, that was cancelled early March.

It had been paid in full since end of Dec.

We Received cc refund yesterday!

Still No FCC's posted.

I plan to request from Princess,  All our FCD's to be refunded now. Were not waiting til expiration.

Still waiting on June cruise to be refunded.

I asked for Option 2, but filed cc dispute on that one as well.

Princ has had our funds since early Jan. Thats long enough.

Agree with those above who suggest filing cc dispute.  Faster refund.

I wonder where those of us who were put off ships with cruises in progress fit into this. I submitted the form to make my choice #2 on Apr 10th.  I have called and no one has had an actual answer for me.  My cruise began Jan 20th, How do they put our date into the mix?  I have had no communication from Princess other than the initial customer relations automated response.  No FCC, No check or credit card refund, No travel reimbursement, submitted March 25th, No refundable OBC refund. Discovered yesterday that refundable OBC refund clock may not have started until April 20th when the ship arrived in LA, a month after I arrived home.  I realize none of this has past 60 days, but being able to see some kind of status or cruise date processing schedule ... SOMETHING! ... would be much appreciated.  So far I have received nothing here, I suspect it will be many months if at all.

I just received notice from my Bank this morning that they had also resolved my credit card dispute against Princess in my favor as well, also with the same "provisional" conditions (45 days).  Hopefully, I will get to keep the money which was my final deposit paid in late Jan. for a May 2 sailing on the Royal (cancelled Mar. 6) - bank dispute filed March 31 .  This may be the only money I ever get back and if it holds I will be thrilled to have it.

We are in the same position though our cruise started 10 March  finished 18 March

Submitted claims  email last week  CHANGED the AMOUNT of THE REFUND given

out to us on board  and is quibbling about the air fare!  but at least it is moving , if in the wrong direction. In the UK it seems to be pased from PCUK to PCUS and back. cant do CC claim as booked through a TA.

FWIW on refunds - I got in just under the wire on qualifying for a refund on an April cruise. It happened to be a river cruise but my TA tells me all of them are working agonizingly slowly.

I got a piece of paper from the company saying I would get a refund and giving amounts inside of a few days.

But the actual refunds have been tortuous. Over a month to get mail from the credit card company that something was coming back. 10 business days after that before it actually made it back into the cc account. Just saw them (two involved) in the two thru in the last five days.

Another smaller amount that cannot be refunded to the cc because of how early I made those deposits - I don't get it but the bottom line is they have to send me a check. I have not gotten it yet and figure I will be calling for another few weeks on that.

I am a little confused - you say they "resolved" it but the credit is provisional?  Sounds like they accepted it and are giving you the credit while they work with Princess on it, so it is not finalized.  Or perhaps I am misunderstanding?

My bad - you are correct - they can still take it away if Princess puts up a fight, as Saragasso Pirate who I quoted explained... And I'm done here... over & out

Not necessarily...I have had 4 cruises canceled by the cruise lines Princess and Royal Caribbean. I received emails from both verifying they received my refund requests. I have received nothing from either cruise line. My cruises were:

3/22/20 Regal Princess canceled 3/12

5/3/20 Harmony of the Seas canceled 3/24

5/10/20 Independence of the Seas canceled 3/24

Caribbean Princess 6/6/20 canceled 4/14

I received email from Royal that my add ons for my 5/3/20 cruise were canceled on 4/24. Also received from Royal an apology that the refund was taking so long. I've received nothing further from Princess since the acknowledgement of my refund requests. I haven't received a penny back from either cruise line for anything that I've paid.

I just filed a credit card dispute with Chase for my cruise on May 4, 2020 that was cancelled on March 5, 2020. Was it the right thing? I dont know but at least I feel I am doing something in an attempt to get my money refunded.

Question for all of you that received the new princess email yesterday, did you cancel your cruise before the mass cancellation? I did not get an email yesterday but I did get one last week saying they are still working on my refund. I did not cancel before the mass cancellation.

We are the same.  Got the email last week saying they were working on it, but did not receive this latest email.  We did not cancel on our own prior to the mass cancellations.

Our records indicate that you cancelled your vacation with us amid the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic on a cruise that we subsequently cancelled as part of our global pause in operations. We know you’re waiting for your refund and we wanted to make sure you were aware you that you are eligible for this higher value Future Cruise Credit (FCC) offer.

The full 100% value of your booking towards a future cruise* and a refund of prepaid purchases such as shore excursion and special service items

A future cruise credit of 100%, 50% or 25% of your cruise fare (varies by cruise departure date, see chart below)

All FCCs can be used on any cruise that sails on or before May 1, 2022.

To take advantage of this higher value offer, please complete this online form ❯ by May 31, 2020 and we will automatically credit your My Princess Account ❯ and let you know once it’s available. Alternatively, if you would still like to receive a full refund (which also includes the standard future cruise credits shown above), you don’t need to do anything as this will be the default option.

We ask for your continued patience in affording us the time to work through the refunds properly. Because we are not able to use our usual automated process, our team is manually handling a large volume of requests while working from home. We want to try to make sure each and every guest's booking is handled accurately, and as efficiently as possible and this is taking more time.

In all cases, any prepaid shore excursions or special service items will be refunded. Air, hotel and taxes, fees and port expenses will be refunded or transferred to a holding account if you’re ready to rebook.

When you are ready to rebook, please contact Princess or the original agency where you booked your cruise to redeem your Future Cruise Credit.

As always, we thank you for your understanding and hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe during this difficult time. With your help, we’ll emerge from this time of trial even stronger. We look forward to serving you onboard again and connecting the world for years to come.

Jan-Swartz headshot

Sincerely,

So it looks like this is going to people who canceled before their March 12, 2020 cancelations that they did.  Is that the way others are reading it?
