Having seen that Graham has just come off Anthem I thought I would have a look at it.  I have decided that as my mobility is never going to improve, only get worse,  although major surgery may help for a while,  I need to get out there and go  on as many trips, weekends and cruises as possible  .I can hobble around during the day but use a scooter later.

We usually go for  the smaller ship and more formal but I wondered if getting out of our comfort zone might be fun.  We are very friendly and have loads chats  with others on our cruises don't socialise a lot, although  we are used to a busy social scene as OH owned a holiday park and   bar with music and dancing.

I have finally got OH to have a look at Anthem, he is there now, but judging by the huffing and puffing  I suspect his search is not going well.  He can get impatient with search engines.😍🤣   although normally he is very laid back.

Shall we go out of our comfort zone?????   I'm hoping!!!!

I have walking problems and take a mobility scooter with me to get around. I am booked on Anthem in August 23, we are taking four grandchildren with us. I am really looking forward to it and experiencing what the ship has to offer.
We have been on other Royal Caribbean ships, Grandeur, Adventure, Navigator & Harmony and I have to say I have loved all of them especially Harmony. There is something for everyone in my opinion.

I am sure you will have a great time if you decide to book

Michelle

i have just gone to post this morning and all the above text has come up that I posted yesterday??  Has anyone any idea why?

Morning everyone, hope you are all ok this morning. It looks a lovely morning here.

Josy, I am impressed, all jobs done at home already, I could do with you round at mine I think!!!

No much planned for today, looks like the sun lounger could be calling my name this afternoon. I will do some washing and cleaning this morning I expect.

Have a nice day

I seem to get the same Deja vous feeling on a regular basis.

I am only so far ahead with everything because of the early alarm call from the birds.  My husband has just told me that it is a good job that we live in a detached property otherwise the neighbours would kill me 🤣

It is certainly  good to be detached and not too near the neighbours.  When my children were tiny we lived in  a liitle semi with nice but retired neighbours, sitting and main bedrooms next to each other.  One day, weeks after it had started annoying them, they mentioned that my hoovering the bedroom carpet at 8 a.m. or even earlier was a bit of a nuisance to them.   Hadn't dawned on me that not everyone was up at 6 or earlier each morning!

I didn't like to say that their listening to Tommy Steele records played loudly later in the day bothered me, however.  They were Londoners, and just adored Tommy.  (It was a long time ago).

Can someone please send some to the nice weather that you are all having down here?🙏 Yesterday it was windy with a sunny start, then torrential rain, followed by dry overcast skies and a temp of about 14oC. Today we can expect the same with some thunder added to the mix!!😒

I'm meeting a friend for coffee later this afternoon. Other than chores I've nothing else planed, except I want to finish reading my book.

Hope everyone has a good day, whatever their plans.

19 degrees forecast for us here in Bolton today, lovely blue skies at the moment. I won’t be seeing much of it though as packing for our holiday in Turkey tomorrow. It’s our first land based holiday for 4 years. Also I am picking up my two young grandsons from school at 3.30.  My daughter said I don’t need to but I want to as I miss them dreadfully when we are away. I am also a bit anxious about leaving our new cat that we got in February, she has settled in really well but this is the first time we have left her. My friend is coming in every day to feed her and she will stay with her for a while. My Vet nurse daughter lives just up road so Kath can speak to her if there are any problems (hopefully none).

Responding to some recent themes on the thread.

Really lovely, sunny and warm here already with windows open.

We have a blackbird that now and again starts it's call sounding like a car alarm going off.

Only cut the grass 5 days ago but needs doing again, it's amazing how fast things grow at this time of year.

When the kids were growing up we sailed with P&O as there was more entertainment for them. However now in general we prefer cruising to be an elegant, nostalgic, relaxing and sophisticated experience rather than fun time Freddy , fun fair experience. However we do compromise if the destination / itinerary to far flung parts of the world excit us.

In the 70s I took a school party to London for a few days.  We went to see 'Hair' and also 'Hans Anderson' starring Tommy Steele.  We expected the teenage girls (15 and 16) to love the former and think the latter a bit uncool.  We were wrong!  They loved Tommy Steele and the music from Hans Anderson.  One of the girls bought the cassette tape and it was on the coach non-stop!  A great performer, and who could not love Thumbellina, The Ugly Duckling and Wonderful Copenhagen? 😄

Sarf of the river, though? Before it all went upmarket and unaffordable! Always a good, clean image, Tommy Steele, unlike quite a few.

Bermondsey I think. So was Singalong a Max Bygraves.

I saw Tommy Steele a few years ago, playing Scrooge at the London Palladium. He’s still an amazing performer

I heard he was better on stage.

Sunny and 19°C here.

We called at a local garden centre and the nearby beach.

Do people tend to dress more casually on the first evening of a cruise? I can finally do my dress zip up, mind you that's before lunch! There's no way it will fit me by Monday evening but I don't know if it's too dressy for the first night, it's a fitted dress.

I always take several fitted dresses but only wear one on the first night if my luggage has arrived in time for dinner. I just pack a pair of smart trousers and top in my hand luggage just in case.

Wear whatever you like, and you won’t feel out of place. Far better to be comfortable than worry about other people, and it’s the people that matter anyway - not the clothes. There’ll be quite a mix, and if you’re wearing something comfortable you’ll be happy, and you’ll have a great time. Nobody bothers at all these days, which is exactly as it should be.

Yup. Both of them. Can’t include Bermondsey in my list of places lived, but my wife can, when she was a trainee nurse. Both of them had connections with the hospital, and both of them revered by everyone in the area. Charlie Chaplin was born not far off in Walworth. All affordable areas then for ordinary people, but now gentrified and unaffordable, like almost everywhere else in London.

Have you seen this lovely map, produced in the1950s to help Polish airmen.  All the places with phonetic spelling!

Like the guy on Catchphrase used to say “Just say what you see”
