Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Speaking of Italian restaurants, I came across the dark, dingy dive bar near the Hilton where I'm currently residing. This was a few days ago when the temperature was 101+ and I was looking for a cold beer.

I figured the menu would be deep fried everything.  Saw a lot of Italian dishes on the menu & figured they had to be bland. The bartender assured me I would not be disappointed.  The owner had migrated down from NJ and brought grandma's recipes with him. So I gave it a whirl & OMG!! Sausage Rigatoni was out of this world.

I swear, I'm not a food porn guy. Lol

In the days that I visited Houston I found an Italian restaurant owned by two guys who grew up in the Bronx and served dishes with recipes from their mothers.

Sorry I haven't checked in on this thread in ages.  I just wanted to check in make sure Dani was OK.  I wasn't sure how close these attacks were to where you live.  I hope all is well with you and you are safe.

Thanks, Dave, and Jim ( @Jimbo) for asking.

As of yesterday afternoon, we're under missile attack alert. The radius of the alert is 80 km (from Gaza strip). We're in the 75 km zone, so quite far, but not far enough.....

We're invited to a very dear friend's birthday this evening, they live southern than us (40 km from Gaza strip), but we decided to go.

We're taking with us a big blanket, in case we'll need to stop the car and lay flat on the road...

I was on a 2 day sailing on Odyssey last November and loved it.  Can't wait until we are on the 8 night southern for Christmas 2023

Is that the ABC island sailing minus one of the letters?

If so, I am eyeing that one as well. We must be family men that can only sail when kids are out of school. Will start thinking about that cruise early next year.

You and I might end up being on the same cruise after all these years...

And are we mere mortals to be blessed with the name/location of this establishment???

LOL, sorry about that.  It's called Nicks Place in the Westchase district of Houston, just off Westheimer  Road.

Another good thing is that they have all day breakfast. Sometimes I like breakfast food for lunch or dinner and sometimes I like to sleep in & I''ll miss the hotel breakfasts that usually ends at 11 am (or 10 am in weekdays)

Love Joe's Stone Crab, although you have to make sure that stone crab is in season before going.  Made that "mistake" once.  Last time that we were there, they served Moscow Mules in copper mugs with their logo that you could keep.  I have a couple of them proudly displayed on my bar.  The lettering on the mug is starting to fade a little bit, which means it's time to go back.

I've tried to drink a Moscow Mule. I just can't do it.

Good Evening.

It has been a lovely day 70°F.

After driving home over Kirkstone Pass yesterday which has amazing mountain views  it got us talking comparisons with the Norwegian Fjords.

I went to my TA this afternoon and booked a Fjords cruise from Southampton England next year in an aft balcony.

Graham.

It took me a minute to figure out that beet garden was a typo.  😁

I'm a beer geek, but I'd pass on the Seattle grunge.  I'd also pass on the cider.  It's hugely popular now but I've just never been able to get into it.

LOL. I did notice that later but it was too late to change.  Oh, and "unreasonably cool" was supposed to be "unseasonably cool".  Lack of attention to detail due to simultaneously talking, watching the game on the big TV and maybe a light buzz from some of the high octane beer. 🥴

They did eventually switch up the music to Top 40 and I guess what would be considered today's Alternative Music (Think Alt Nation on XM radio Ch 36) with a little bit of Mexican music thrown in for variety.

I keep trying ciders since they are big now but have yet to find really one I like. While I get bored drinking the same beer all the time, the problem with many craft places is that they get to creative with the recipe and throw in was to many flavors. Just my opinion, of course.

I did hit up two more very small, local craft places: Local Group Brewing and Equal Parts Brewing. Got a chance to speak with the owner at both places and both are determined to remain small & distribute to local bars within Houston area.  Both had very solid brews and very extensive menus.

I wish so much there could just be peace in your part of the world. I would so much like to visit. I can't imagine living with some if the stresses that you constantly have to deal with.😐

Stay safe Dani. I guess I've been in a news blackout the past week or so as I didn't even know violence had broken out again.

I can't even imagine what it must be like.

The Southern Caribbean is amazing. Which ship are you on? Sorry, I can't keep everything straight. It was much easier when cruising was shut down.

It will be Odyssey.  Surprisingly the Odyssey 8 day over Christmas and the 6 day over New Years were the cheapest for the big ships over the Holidays

Really?  First thing you are going to notice the weather is hotter when doing the Southern Caribbean because it's closer to the equator. Probably be a eye opener for you coming from Canada.
