Entire towns have been wiped out due to the flooding. Have seen pictures of Chimney Rock's main street before and after, sad. Asheville is cut off as many of the highways are washed out. Hearing they don't even know the magnitude as power is out and communications are limited. Hearing conflicting stories on Biltmore, their website says closed for next 2 days but check back, they are just outside Asheville. Overall sad situation in the mountains of NC. Unfortunately hurricanes can impact many miles inland. So true. Got this from a friend who was trying to check on her mother-in-law in NC. Hard getting any communications in or out of certain areas. 5

I was thinking Ian was last September. I saw some photos on the news of Ft Myers - so sad. And they didn't even get a direct hit. I think if I went through 2 hurricanes destroying or severly damaging my home or business within 2 years I would move. I was talking to my friend in Naples today, and she said a friend of hers who lives near the beach in Naples has not been able to sell her home (or Condo?) since Hurricane Ian.

ATG Posted Sunday at 01:55 AM #129761 Share Posted Sunday at 01:55 AM We are currently at a hotel in Covington GA tonight. The hurricane went through our neighborhood in South Carolina early Friday morning. One of the weather sites listed the wind speed at 82 mph at 5:37 am. That’s about the time a very large tree fell and missed our neighbors bedroom by about 10 feet. Our short street had 5 trees across the road. Luckily several of our neighbors had chain saws and got them taken care of. Lots of other trees down but only minor damage to one porch. They estimate no power for about a week. We decided to find a hotel for a few days. On I-20 between Augusta and here the traffic was slow but moving. We tried to get gas but all of the stations were out. Hopefully, by the time we leave they get more. All in all, we are thankful none of us had more damage. We have great neighbors, we all got together last night for dinner. One neighbor has a gas range and we all brought stuff from our refrigerator- it will mostly need to be trashed after a week. It was a strange menu, but good to get together. We have read about the devastation in North Carolina. I hope they can recover quickly. 24

helen haywood Posted Sunday at 02:26 AM #129765 Share Posted Sunday at 02:26 AM My previous home town, Washington, GA had a direct hit from Helene. The whole county is without power or landlines. No stores open as no electricity. No gas stations open. I feel terrible. I heard from my closest two friends briefly yesterday…but not since as they need to conserve cell battery. They can charge the phone in their car but I don’t know how long that takes. No matter how much preparation I would have made if I still lived there…I would never have expected to be without power for days! Once when I lived there the power was out for three days…but that was in the winter…and there were stores open! I hear Augusta, Lincolnton and Thomson (nearby towns) are equally decimated. I wish there was something I could do!

Rare aussielozzie18 Posted Sunday at 05:41 AM #129768 Share Posted Sunday at 05:41 AM Good afternoon, currently enjoying a nice glass of wine in the sunshine while my phone re-charges. Had 3 options for my last day in Adelaide: a full day winery tour with lunch included in the Barossa Valley or a long scenic walk by the water or some interactions with native wildlife in particular with birds. So you all know I am a bird nerd.. Headed up into the beautiful Adelaide Hills which were a bit brisk to start with but warmed up once the sun came out. That’s it for Adelaide - flying home tonight. The below photo represents me after all the good food, wine & chocolate I’ve enjoyed during my visit. No sure that all the kms of walking have balanced it out.., Photos taken here (paid extra for the Cockatoo experience). 23

I posted several times earlier this year how condos in Florida are in correction. The new law went into effect this hear and many manh condos got hit hard with the way the new reserves have to be now. Instead of one general reserve fund, now each item has to have it's own reserve. Roof, parking lot, garage or carport, painting, on and on. My little ocean front condo wasnt even directly hit by a hurricane though has some damage last year I think it was. I was hit by a 3k assessment the year I bought, and now besides a huge hoa increase, 2 more assessments, 1 due immediately. The hoa says were are in a deficit position. Unless you give it away for sure csnt sell with all this hanging over our heads. Zillow says the zestimate is down about $65,000 on the value. I'm just continuing to rent it out but someone out theirs up for sale and is dreaming. There is no chance it will sell for what it was worth even a year ago. I'm personally hoping once all the condos get this law figured out and all the inspections behind them..and the ever increasing insurance added in the correction will find a bottom. I knew prices were going to drop more this year and that whatever I paid the price for now wouldnt go up, but I dont plan on moving and still glad I moved when I did. But for sure prices here are dropping like a rock. It's the new condo law and additional reserves and insurance, not even particularly that hurricane though I'm sure that added to why insurance is increasing like a rocket. Your friend could sell her condo just not near what she wants I'd bet. We have the same problem here, either reduce your price or cant sell. Add to that, people know interest rates are dropping if they want to finance so waiting. I'm just holding on my little oceanfront. Terrible time to sell a condo. I'm still seeing downtown miami condos down 200k from before. I follow florida real estate closely. And my cousin lives in venice so i follow your friends area too. It's all over Florida if you are a buyer there are deals to be had..

The fast food places on the other side of the interstate were closed. Cell phone service has been spotty. I’m not sure if it’s damage to the towers or just so many people using them. We’re hoping to find gas this morning. 5

One of my BP meds was too soon to be refiled (my insurance covers most at 100%), but I could pay to refill, about $60, or ask insurance to allow early refill. I said I will pay, and the clerk at Walgreen said "I will find a coupon". Ended costing $16. Clothing just goes in the laundry bag to get washed.
