Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

For the casino players I have a question. We were talking to someone last night and I thought I heard him say in order to get a free cruise you need 800 points. For every dollar you spend you get 5 points. This doesn't sound right to me because that would only be $160.00. Maybe I misunderstood him. It was noisy last night.

You get free cruise certificate and become a prime member with 2400 or 2500 earned within casino year of april 1st thru march 31st.

It is 1 point for $5 that passes thru slot machine.

I have read on other threads that some people were receiving free cruise certificates on some ships with just a couple hundred points, but that is not standard at all.  I think they were giving them out to get bookings.

We have been prime members for a couple of years and have definitely got our money's worth of free casino cruises up to 7 nights.  Plus free booze and bottled waters in casino for prime and up members.

Spending 4K for a "free cruise"? Must be in Star Class 😁

It cost us about $1200 to $1500 of casino play to become prime casino members.  We still have 3 free annual free cruises we have to use by 3.31 or lose.  Probably will loose 2 of them since we have 5 cruises booked for jan thru march already.

Earlier when I tried to post, I was locked out and a message pop up and said I was locked out because they were updating the system.  I would have to say I usually don’t get a message when CC does it’s goofy stuff.  If the message was true, you would think would work better on both ends if was done on an off hour.

At our office we always dread when we get emails that IT will be doing updates during the night.

P.S. I am an ice cream liker who will not bite your head off for vigorously defending ice cream or suggesting alternates. 😁These days people seem to be needing more hugs and lots of chillaxing😁

That is one interpretation of the posts.

Another would be that anyone is free to state that they do not like something and not have pushback about why they dislike something.  Accept that they do not like ice cream and move on.

Everyone has a right to their own opinions, likes and dislikes, beliefs, etc.

Totally agree. Everyone has a "right to their own opinions, likes and dislikes, beliefs, etc".

I was not interpreting, but since you quoted my reply to someone else, I will say that I was POSTING A REPLY TO LENNY, the elderly 90 something poster who I respect very much.

Some hugs for you too! Now let's follow your advice in moving on.

I am SO excited. I just booked a cruise for Thanksgiving 2022 on Adventure of the Seas out of Galveston! We have already booked an Alaskan cruise on Ovation OTS for next July. My company (I'm an accountant) has a pretty limited vacation time policy, so being able to squeeze in two cruises in one year on my limited leave is a huge deal. Yay!

We have cruised several different lines - Royal, Carnival, NCL, HAL, etc. We choose based on scheduling and itinerary, not necessarily which line it is. But now we have two Royal cruises next year, and I have a question for the experts. I usually do all of the booking and planning online, my husband and son don't have their own accounts. Should they be signed up for separate accounts to count up their cruises? How do I do that? Does it even matter if it's unlikely we'll ever qualify for anything super-special since we don't stick to just Royal?

Also, any thoughts on Adventure? We booked one of the corner aft cabins on deck 7 that have the extra-large balcony. Had that on Liberty in 2019 and LOVED it.

It doesn't hurt. Every "perk" is well-earned.

This from Royal's C&A site --

How do I enroll in the Crown & Anchor Society?

A

If you are a new guest, there is no need to sign up for Crown & Anchor Society. You will be automatically enrolled after you complete your first sailing with Royal Caribbean International (applies to US Residents). Membership benefits begin after you have completed at least one Royal Caribbean International cruise.

If you have sailed with us but are not yet enrolled, you can contact Crown & Anchor Society at (800) 526-9723 to sign up before your next cruise. If you are outside the U.S. and Canada, call (541) 285-9723. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 AM-10 PM EST and Saturday through Sunday 9 AM-8 PM EST. Please be sure to have information about your previous cruise(s) on hand: ship name(s), sail date(s), and booking number(s).

You can also visit the Loyalty Ambassador onboard to sign-up for the program. Benefits begin after you have completed at least one Royal Caribbean International cruise. If your email address is given, we will use this to only communicate your Program benefits unless you opt-in to other solicitations.

I don't think Viking would be our cup of tea, although to be fair, I haven't really looked into them.  We like Royal because of the variety of activities and entertainment.  I know some of you follow Tony from La Lido Loca and he summarized it well in a recent video.  His favorite class of ship across all cruise lines is Oasis class, but he has never used the flow rider, the zip line, the rock wall, and I think he also included a water slide.  He likes Oasis class for the entertainment...the Broadway shows, Aquatheater, comedy club, etc.  We are the same.  We like the "energy" on an Oasis class ship, even if we don't use all of the amenities ourselves.  I don't think I'd like a higher end cruise line just because it has really good food and service.  We need to do more than just sit around, relax, and look at the ocean.  I can do that at home.  I should probably check out Viking, Seabourn, Azamara, etc. in more detail before making assumptions about the experience.

The Celebrity Edge class seems to be a little more like Royal with "bells and whistles" while also being a little more upscale with food and service.  And the Retreat area looks very nice.

We are about to try Viking in 2023.  Three week European river cruise.  Very good reviews...looking forward to it.  They make you pay in advance...two years in advance!!  Cabins on those river cruisers are in high demand...they want to make sure you are committed.  😮

On the one hand, it doesn't cost anything and is easy to do, so why not?  On the other hand, I don't feel like it provides much in worthwhile benefits until you reach Diamond level.  If you don't think you'll ever get to Diamond, you won't miss out on much by not signing up.

Still, I'd sign up.  You may end up taking a bunch of Royal cruises because of itinerary and schedule.  As Dani said, it doesn't hurt.

I just guessed at my husband's login and was surprised to see that he already has an account with everything included. 😂

Not sure what to do about our son - he's too young to really do much online for himself. I sent a message through the website to find out what to do about him.

Last winery tour day on Wednesday, another favorite.   Hostess set us up for light picnic lunch and a bottle of wine on the deck (fortunately nice sunny day) and lit the little gas fire next to us.  Perfectly relaxing wonderful time.  Spent two hours there!!  😮

Packed up and drove to Spokane yesterday morning, found these "Mulies" munching on the fresh winter wheat planted in the massive miles of fields from Chelan on the 3 hour drive to hotel in Spokane.

Hotel on the river overnight, nice dinner at restaurant we walked to in the chilly drizzle last night.  Bucky got his Filet Mignon, and decadent chocolate dessert.  (forgot to take pictures..sorry 😞 )...and the restaurant gave him 20% off for Veteran's day discount.  Nice touch.  Very popular restaurant (Clinkerdagger).

What is going on in my life you ask ?

Since Toby had her surgery she has been having horrific pain in her legs. She went back to the surgeon. He believes that it is not related to the surgery. She went to an Orthopedic doctor. He took X-rays and could not find anything.Later this afternoon she is having an MRI.

To take her mind off things she went out to lunch with 5 friends to NYC.

It is storming here now .It started about 30 minutes after she left .

Not to ruffle any feathers...but I don't eat desserts. We never had them growing up.

I didn't grow up with desserts either...but Jim sure did!!   He loves his desserts, as do our 3 daughters😁

We depart tomorrow for an away hockey tournament. A game Friday, two Saturday and playoffs on Sunday, if they make it. It’s 4 hours away from home, at a place called Parry Sound which autocorrect has taken to changing to Party Sound.

I will have to see if this works.  I saved a video as a gif, of granddaughter twirling her baton in the parade last night.

I know if I were to try this, there may have been some injuries involved.  Looks like she picked up some of my DW skills.   She use to do this with fire batons.😳

I love this!!!!  What a precious keepsake you've just recorded!❤️  Your granddaughter is adorable.

semi "cruise" related....my sister is looking at having her wedding in Savannah, GA on a river cruise boat!  I'm SO EXCITED I can't stand it.

Our son got married on a tour boat that went up and down the Hudson.  It was so different and scenic.  They sailed right near the Statue of Liberty, even us jaded New Yorkers were in awe!  Congratulations to your sister.

I LOVE cheese as much as Lenny loves ice cream!!!!! LOL!😁

We also don't frequent the Elite breakfast in Tuscan. I want my eggs benedict or omelette 😋on vacation and a cold breakfast is not my cup of tea😁 LOL!

I love omelette, primarily Western and Spanish.

Crystal, congratulations to your sister and to you 💐.

Such a special time for you. Being an only child/daughter, I wish I had a sister [or even a brother would do 😉]
