Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Finally made it to a city with 4G signal.

2 days behind in pictures upload versus real time.

Day 3 highlights - Princess spends 9 hours at Glacier Bay National Park with Park ranger taking over the PA system after they board the ship as well as set up shop on the ship's lounge.

Mimi and Dani, happy you like deck 8, that is what my daughter got.  I was worried but I think they will like being close to Park Cafe!!!

You had to see the little one’s face when I told her there was a merry-go-round on the ship😁

 #8427, #8439, #8440.    I prefer deck 8 on Oasis class.

Hence my recommendation 😁 I hope she got one of those. There was another one on deck 8, but it was connected to another cabin....

My bad.

Wondering why I remember deck 6 being also recommended 😟 My 5G memory isn't what it used to be....😢

Deck 6 is our favorite deck on Oasis class ships because it is on the same deck as the Boardwalk.  It is also only one deck up from the Royal Promenade and two down from Central Park.

No, I'm not. Not only that, but I wasn't even accorded the courtesy of saying: "Look, OP, "we" decided to change the thread's name, since in "our" opinion, it is obsolete"....

Moreover, I think that despite our different "sizes" and "shapes", it is the "lockdown" and the stressful situation we have ALL found ourselves in, that brought us together.... and it still is, despite it being, for now, "obsolete"....

Welcome to CC….

It is sad the way they treat members.

You all will never know how much We appreciate your help, support and messages of sympathy that you have given to Us❤️

Great news!

Being at sea soothes a wounded heart and soul.
Sharing it with family makes it even better.

It was Bob (Clarea) who recommended deck 8 for the proximity to CP 😉 and that's what we booked in Allure 😁

Second best, according to Bob, was deck 6 (Promenade deck).

I miss Bob posts very knowledgeable, did correct him once 😁😁.

I tend to go with 7. Pretty much for all your reasoning. It is one  from CP, one from BW, and 2 from the Promenade.

We have done deck 7 once too.  Not a bad choice either other than having to remember which elevator bank to take since you can't cross over at the aft elevators.  We only messed up once all week. 😄

Reminds me of a pregnant man, not that I’ve ever seen one. 🫣

Visiting family.

Arnold Schwarzenegger in Junior was pregnant. Not a very good movie, but nice to get to see a man go through it.

Good morning,everyone.

As I have written before, this thread moves very quickly. I was surprised to see the title has been changed. One morning, I was reading the posts under the original title.During the evening, I returned to Dani’s thread, and saw that the title had been changed. At least the former title was kept in parenthesis.

Despite the change, Dani and followers continue to post,so that is a good thing!

My 18 year old granddaughter made her first visit this past Sunday to the Hamptons and Sag Harbor.Much to my surprise an ice cream parlor in SH had not raised their prices since I was there in 2019.

The extra space in JS is nice.  Extra wide balcony with double windows is also nice.   Full tub / shower nice!  Dinner at CK.  Walk in closet for most.

Some JS have full bath with a separate powder room/toilet, depending on ship.  I know Anthem has them.  I think they are J4s vs J3s.

And double points😃

We only get when price is right.  We are mid ship deck 9 for our Oasis sailing.  I tried for deck 8 for easy access to CP but all JS were gone when we booked a couple months ago.

Do JS usually cost much less when new bookings come out?  Also, if I remember correctly,  TA's don't have group rates for JS.

Our new TA found us a great deal for OVB on our October cruise and has provided some great options for an OVB for January.

Although I prefer deck 8 too, you can just trot down the steps one deck from 9 and be at CP.

@Ocean Boy

Thank you, "really", for putting me out of my misery... I've been racking my depleted brains trying to remember why deck 6 was also recommended 😕.

NOW I know I've made a "mishmash" between "Boardwalk" and "Promenade"...... at least, let's agree that I was "close" 😉

Mimi, how is your friend Ginny? 😘

Thank you for asking.
We thought Ginny had given up. At 98 she was tired. Not eating, and sleeping except when she had PT. She can’t put her weight on the fractured hip, but her doctor says it won’t be long.
Yesterday, she ate her lunch, and sat up all afternoon making post rehab hospital plans. Her townhouse bedrooms are upstairs, so she intends to have her bedroom furniture moved to her dining room, which is an ell off the living room.
She may not have thought of the fact that the first floor bathroom is only a powder room. Knowing Ginny, she’ll find a way to add a shower.
So we are all feeling hopeful that she’ll give it a go, and then move into one of the assisted living facilities near us.
We’re not talking about the elephant in the room, the masses seen on scans in her lungs and around her spine.
Fingers crossed that we keep her for a few years longer.

Don't be surprised if the cat doesn't want to eat, drink or use the potty box while the car is moving.  We have done several long trips with different cats including the 12+ hour drive with 7 cats and 2 dogs when we moved.  Have a towel or small blanket in the carrier with the cat.  If the cat will sit with your stepdaughter that would be the best.  Offer water and maybe have a litter box available.  It really depends on the cat.  Some love to travel and are fine and others are not happy the entire time.  When you stop for the evenings have familiar toys, bedding and quiet time for him to destress.

We did all the things you suggested. He wasn't too happy for the 1st hour of the drive, lots of highway construction made for a noisy & bumpy ride but once out of Houston, he settled in nice & quiet for the next 9 hours.

Acclimated pretty quickly to the hotel room in Memphis where we stayed for the night.
