Charlie was supposed to see Sinatra in Vegas.  His high roller friend got the tickets and they were to meet Sinatra after the show.  Alas, that was when Sinatra’s mom died and he had to cancel. They saw Sammy Davis instead, a bit of a let down but they said the show was good.

That is interesting, Marietta! My mom and aunt also had tickets to see him in lake Tahoe during the same period of time. His mom passed away, and the show was cancelled, and Sammy Davis Jr. replaced him. They were disappointed. She never did get to see him. ☺️

There is a Italian restaurant in midtown which was Sinatra favorite called Patsy’s there Italian sauce is in some supermarkets, food is good but not great . What we loved was there was a vase and it had written on it , this vase contains the ash’s of the last customer who complained about the food.

Patsy’s opened in 1944 and to date they have only had 3 Chef’s.I worked in the area many years ago and often went to dinner there with co-workers .

That is beautiful. It looks very much like the Outer Banks, where we used to stay in Corolla, NC. In the 4 wheel drive area.

When Toby and I moved into the condo development where we currently live we saw on a bulletin board in one of the clubhouses that two days prior a resident had entertained.A few days later we were introduced to him and he told us that he used to appear with Frank Sinatra when they both lived in the same part of NJ.I told the guy that Sinatra was my mothers all time favorite singer. My neighbor was scheduled to sing again but he passed away before he had the chance to do so.

I wish I would have seen him before he passed. I really did not become a big fan till later in life and really started listening to the beauty of his voice. Also the bands backing him were incredible especially the Count Basie Band when Quincy Jones was writing the arrangements. Incredible!

I still have my mothers collection of Sinatra records and my father’s collection of  his all time singer Tony Bennett. There are 78’s and very fragile especially being so old.

I also have Enrico Caruso records that belonged my father. These were gramophone discs that have dates on them,1908.

Was it at Calneva?  When we stayed in Lake Tahoe, we went to the Calneva, and took a picture of us standing on the State Line in the Casino.  @DaniDanielle Marietta, our picture was shown in the SI Advance.😉

I was trying to remember, and it might have been, because Cal-Neva was his casino, and they usually stayed on North Shore Lake Tahoe. I don't actually recall where they were to see him. It was interesting years ago, to go there and see all of the old celebrity photos, and how many of the slot machines that had been red tagged by the Nevada State Gaming Commission.  😀 And of course, the big yellow line between CA and NV. That's cool you had your photo featured!

Those 78’s might be worth a lot of money.

My grandmother had many 78’s of Caruso and others not sure of what relatives grab them but wish I did .

My dad had a set of 78’s that was called Norman Granz’s Jazz Scene. I believe there where 7 discs that had Jazz from Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday. It included a beautiful black and white photo book. I sold it on eBay to a collector for over $500.

Shall we say "blindsided"?

That was a good  Survivor.   I feel like I know the one that will get voted off next week but could be surprised again.

Now back to Amazing Race.

It did not make sense to me.  I did not get what the story was about- the Seven Chapters.  To me, it was a bunch of random themes, dancing, acrobatics and the use of a lot of technology.  At times, it was like a circus, different things happening all over the stage and the screen at the same time.  It just all seemed disjointed to me...

We also thought the same thing. Went back a second time and still just as bad imo.

@lenquixote66Lenny, I hope your daughter had a great birthday today.  Best wishes for Toby to have a successful outcome.

@Sunshine3601It looks like you and Eric are having a wonderful cruise.  Carry on!

@JimboYour beach pictures are so beautiful and tranquil.

Loved the Sinatra chat.  There will never be another quite like him.

I had an eye doc appointment today and both eyes look gorgeous.  His exact words.  Amazing how well I see now.

2 months until our Adventure OTS cruise.  It's been 4 years since our last cruise!
