Would you cruise in August

Next Spring at the earliest.

We are both 74 and in excellent health but if I need a Doctors note to cruise, the cruise line just lost 2 customers who take 3 cruises a year.

If you're in great health, why are you worried about getting a letter?

Interesting rule

I would think the 14 day before you can return to work rule was fairly common. It’s actually a CDC recommendation that was issued before they put their no sail order in for Cruises

“Passengers who return from a cruise ship or river cruise voyage are advised to stay home for 14 days, monitor their health, and practice social distancing.

CDC has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for cruise ship travel.”

If they are sailing , I think it is safe to cruise again.  Although no one in my travel party is at risk, so I am willing to change it.I was also on a cruise when this something went down so my tolerance for changing it is high.  I don't have another cruise booked until November, but I will do one this summer if I can do one at a price I like and get there for a reasonable price.  I would need my husband to get least minute time off too or in would have none booked now.

If cruises reopened in August would you cruise or cancel?

August 2020?

Nope. Already transferred our August 9th deposit for same cruise, same cabins to August 2021.  No way was I going to hand RCI over 10 grand in a couple of weeks with the economic uncertainty, cruising uncertainty, and all the reports of the nightmares of refunds and FCC.

IF and that is a big IF, Remdesivir lives up to its intial promise to be a reliable treatment and is widely available and if the economy is recovering, I might change my mind and purchase at the last minute. Right now they are giving away the cabins.

Did you have to pay the $100 per person to transfer to another date?

We will not cruise again until there have been 2-3 months of multiple cruise ships sailing with no quarantine incidents or reports of multiple illnesses of passengers after returning home. There are too many other options for travel to take a chance of being quarantined on a ship for 14 or more days.

Also, just prior to cruises stopping, both of our employers put in rules that anyone taking a cruise or visiting a foreign country could not return to work for at least 14 days after returning. We don’t want to take 3 weeks of leave or unpaid time off just to take a one week cruise. So until those rules are changed, we won’t be cruising.

My daughter's work policy is similar; if you leave the hometown and travel domestically, you have to self quarantine for a week. If you travel internationally, like the Bahamas, you have to self-quarantine for 2 weeks.

For our daughter, a cruise is not worth it right now.

OP said the rule was in place much prior to that

I think it’s more like finding a doctor willing to sign Royals letter, regardless of their health.

Its been reported that Roysl will accept any letter from the doctor, doesn't have to be the example previously posted.

Not for an August sailing.  Cruise with confidence extends to Sept 1 and waives all the NRD penalties.

Sorry, should have read further, saw it was answered.

The 70+ letter is the whole Chines Passport thing all over again in my opinion.  There just hasn't been any need to challenge it yet

We canceled our cruise for August out of Bayonne just before final payment was due. Too many stories on CC about lack of refunds to allow RCI to hold on to our money indefinitely. If things are back up and running in August and I'm happy with the safety protocols in place, I'm fairly certain I could find a cruise.

I was thinking on a good day I wouldn't cruise July or Aug for the same reason. My cut off is mid June.

Things different down here, school starts in early August and ends late May

FWIW, Laura has a casino comp cruise on Aug 23. No investment other than $110 in port fees.

If things look sketchy, I doubt she goes

If they start cruising in August and are offering TA’s the same deal they did on the now cancelled May sailings I’ll be heading south to hop on a ship.
