Would you cruise in August

We have a cruise booked end of August before our kids return to school (hopefully).  The world is pretty much shut down so mentally we've given up on this cruise, even though we haven't cancelled yet.  The thing is...even if cruising comes back, things would need to change with the big one, not putting the whole ship in quarantine if one person has it....and also not being  required to self-quarantine for 2 weeks post cruise if returning from a cruise or flight.  I am able to work from home, DH can too although it's not a usual occurrence aside from now,  but we can't have our kids miss the first two weeks of school. So for us, our answer is "probably not" unless things greatly improve and ships have made big changes. Really sad about this as we love cruising and it's get away as a family (and already missed march break).  Desperately want to say "just go" if it opens up but not sure we can with school.  We also have a few days at Disney with this cruise but also probably cancelling even if open.

We do have December booked  Not even sure about that one, but hoping things are better with ship changes (vaccine unlikely though).

We'll have take a rain check. I'm hoping I'm still going to Sturgis (friend and I) in August. 🤞Then Kathy and I are booked on a Pacific/Canada coastal cruise in September. 🤞 I just canceled our June east coast  trip today. Hopefully our annual July and September Jackson Hole Wy trips are a go. 🤞 One day and trip at a time.

Ooohh...I love Jackson Hole!  Sooo pretty!  Hope you still get to go!

Sturgis...bike week?

Indeed hope we can make the Canada cruises, assuming Canada opens the boarders in July.  😮 Still hope to cruise in August, but can't if Vancouver does not open up by then.

Its been reported that Roysl will accept any letter from the doctor, doesn't have to be the example previously posted.

Saw that on FB but I have not seen anyone else confirm it yet.  And we don't know really what that means.  Can it be as vague as Dan who is over 70 is fit to cruise.  Hopefully it will go away.

Our September cruise leaves from Vancouver. Final payment is due in June. We've got the hotel reserved but haven't booked air yet. We've got four Ecredits (purchased non refundable tickets) banked from two separate canceled air trips from this year. Just playing the waiting game.

Yes the Sturgis trip is for the 80th Sturgis motorcycle rally.  No reservations to cancel for that trip if the rally is canceled.

We had our June cruise cancelled.  So, we are hoping that there are some deals for August and they are sailing in August before school starts.  If not, we will be flying to either Hawaii (if international travel has not resumed) or the Caribbean.  I hate the idea of having to buy food for a week!  Yep, cruising has spoiled us!

If you're in great health, why are you worried about getting a letter?

Because it's discrimination, we see all kinds of passengers who are a lot younger that than us who are obese and smoke like fiends and and others with oxygen tanks moving around the ship in scooters. Why don't these passengers need a note from a Doctor?

Their ship, their rules. If you want to sail and your health is perfect, pay the copay, get the letter and move on. It's not worth the stress

I've talked to my PCC's  with HAL and Princess and they have told me that their respective lines would never require a note from a Doctor to sail so we will continue to sail with them and say goodbye to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.

BTW, it sounds like you're the one who's stressed out.

Yes, they will not require a note. Princess will be doing their own screenings prior to allowing passengers to board. They will be requiring each passenger to complete a more extensive health questionnaire, be conducting basic health screenings on each passenger and more in-depth screenings by medical personnel on some deemed a higher risk.

They will also disembark passengers at the next port and take possible legal action against anyone who falsified the medical information or did not disclose possible symptoms.

I would expect Holland America and other Carnival lines to implement a similar process once sailings resume.

What a crock of Bull is that? and who will be monitoring the people you come in contact once you are parading around these foreign countries for a 10 hour  port stop?

Can you all  say VACCINE ? that is what you need to safely cruise again?

Talk about in disbelief in what is going on? That document can't be serious is it?

08/30/20 Harmony of the Seas! Can't wait! Got the free casino offer, upgraded for $160 to a balcony! Oh, got freeplay too in the casino....if this ship doesn't sail, 11/30/20 is next on the agenda. Another free cruise casino offer! Did the same upgrade. 🙂

Excursions and rides have height/weight limits, it's not discrimination.  Neither is asking for a letter.

I've seen a lot of smokers, but not one who looked like a "fiend".....
