Princess Laundry Tags (Oh the Memories)

Hello everyone,

I was just ironing one of my DH shirts, and there was a Princess laundry tag on it from our last cruise.  The memories just started flowing from my mind.  This was from a wonderful cruise from NYC to Ft Lauderdale. taken last year.

 

What memories do your laundry tags bring to your mind?

Reminds me of the one thing I hate about Princess laundry, the Tags!  If you forget to remove them after the laundry is returned, you'll remember as soon as you feel the "itch" of the tag rubbing your body parts!

I have had laundry done on Princess and P&O(UK) in the past.  One of the two does laundry tags on a coded basis e.g. Z45GH whereas the other actually uses your cabin number as the laundry tag number.  So when one looks at your shirt years later you can remember which cabin you were in.

My husband found a tag on one of his shirts last week from Sapphire 2 years ago.

I must agree... put a smile on the dail ... when you find a tag months after your cruise..

The tags reminded me of the two weeks I spent with my Mom.  It was her return to cruising after looking my Dad.  She had a great time, and that was the goal of the trip.

Found one on a pair of shorts last week.  When cruising in the winter I have found two tags on a pair of shorts.

Have clothing for cruises. Always finding laundry tags. Sometimes more than one per item.

Due to the itching, we always remove the tags when the laundry comes back and before we put it away.  Or so we thiink......months later we discover tags we either missed or there were multiple tags.

we've also got "cruise clothes" mostly for evenings on the ship

We always remember the tags that seem to stick on certain clothes forever because of being placed directly on a seam. Have at least two items like this.  😂 Fun memories.

Another memory booster...last week I decided to decommission my travel items rubbermaid container (sigh) and came across a bottle of Princess Lotus Spa shampoo.  While I never really liked the scent, I used it and the good memories flowed back.   Maybe I’ll keep the bottle and take the occasional whiff.

 

Last cruise was Oct. 2019 Transatlantic.  Wonderful.

The tag that I found on my DH shirt said PL-49.

I used to pull off any laundry tags as soon as I found them after returning home, but since the hiatus of cruising, I have been leaving them in place as a reminder of past cruises. Even if the location may be a wee bit irritating, I like having my memory jogged. 😉

Try putting a warm iron on for a minute or 2, it might loosen the glue.

Thanks for that advice. The next time I find a piece of clothing with the tag on it I will try that.

I recently found laundry tags on a shirt from two different cruises! I pulled them off, then was sorry I did. They do spark warm memories!

I remember my dry cleaners giving me about 4 tags. He took them off my shirts and asked me if I wanted them. We both just started laughing.

We [use to] cruise a lot and do laundry on most voyages. Every time I run across a laundry tag (and remove it) I try to remember when the last time I packed that item for a cruise and also realize how much I miss being at sea on a cruise ship. Maybe some day soon....

Certainly a lift for me as well. First time sending laundry out was this past December on our trip to Antarctica on Coral. How can you not smile with such awesome memories of that trip!😁

Put on a tshirt last week to wear and noticed a laundry tag from our last cruise in November.  It had been through our laundry several times before I noticed it.  Ah fond memories.

When I come across them, it makes me wonder, what cruise was this from? LOL

Not sure about how much people know about the early days of Princess Cruises but when the founder Stanley McDonald chartered Princess Patricia as the first vessel, laundry went a bit pear shaped.  Basically the vessel did not have an on board laundry facility, so the staff collected everybody's laundry and it was taken ashore for it to be serviced at a shoreside location with a private company.  It was done in good time but the company returned all the laundry to the ship as a single gigantic amalgamated load.
