What do other cruise lines do that you wish Royal Caribbean would do?

Wish RC would offer free onboard texting  for communicating with family, other passengers etc instead of having to purchase an internet plan. I know there were some trials happening on a couple of ships via the Royal App but it’s taking forever to be rolled out across all ships, I don’t think there’s been any change in 2-3 years. Disney already had onboard texting in 2013/14, it was very handy for keeping in touch with our teens. I really hope RC took this last year to work on and improve their IT systems!

one more vote for no smoking, also  wish that all of the ships in the fleet would have live music by the pool during the daytime....Would also like to see it be mandatory that all children be required to eat at least one healthy meal during their whole cruise...The last time i checked pizza and chicken tenders would not qualify and the parents allow the damn kids to eat whatever....Great future for heart specialist in the medical field for the next 50 years....damn that felt good to say! Maybe they can take selfies when they get their bypasses.....

I definitely wouldn’t want live music and the only reason is because it would be just as loud if not louder than the djs. Sometimes it’s excruciatingly loud. .🙉

Azamara has self serve laundry, w. free detergent.

Wished Royal did for the long or b2b cruises.

Or maybe it disrupts the flow of boarding

It didn’t seem to when we boarded. People get the champagne and are in a hurry to move on.

How?

1.  It is distributed after boarding the ship

2.  If it were such a problem why does Celebrity continue to do it?

I would consider it as being distributed during boarding. It’s handed to you as you get on the ship for the first time. I think that’s still part of the boarding time. I got a glass as were boarding then walked back out to get a picture.

Handing out free drinks as I entered Promenade would disrupt the flow of boarding. In my opinion. Creates a bottleneck. 6000 people entering Oasis in 4-5 hours is chaotic.

Plus, it is horrible swill

Didnt royal used to do that, maybe 15 or more years ago? I can remember being met with champagne when I boarded, but maybe was princess in the old days, but seems like royal. A long time ago.

Not sure if Royal did this since I only started cruising in 2011. This picture was taken on the Equinox 2 years ago.

I have only been on Allure, but I don’t remember if they boarded using 2 doors or 1 like Celebrity. If it’s 1door then it would definitely be a problem.

Totally agree with this.  Sometimes you go up after the show looking for a snack and it's either closed or there's nothing but pizza.  Not everybody eats pizza, particularly cruise ship pizza.  Also love the way NCL has one of the main dining rooms open for lunch when you embark.  We always look forward to celebrating the beginning of our cruise with a nice quiet  MDR lunch.  Very few people there since they don't publish it and the crew will try hard to re-direct you to the buffet.

My parents frequently sail Hal as well as Rcl.  We joined them for a couple Hal sailings and always enjoyed the lunch in the mdr on embankment day.  Nice relaxing way to start your cruise vacation instead of dealing with crowds with their luggage in jammer.

Also, we liked their midnight buffet.  Their buffet would shutdown around 830/9 pm then reopen around 1130 pm to 1 am or so.

Not that we need any more food but it is a nice option.  Their midnight buffet would have pizza, burgers, various snack foods, salads, deserts lots of deserts, ice cream, etc etc.

We would meet my parents there almost every night around midnight.  Sometimes we would just have a desert and cup of tea and sit and talk.

Sure doesn't look like boarding is being disrupted to me.  Looks rather pleasant,  in my opinion.

In the whole scheme of things, this is a small perk, but one that makes a great first impression.

My guess is that the RCCL accountants have dismissed the idea as "costing too much."

What's that expression... "penny wise and pound foolish!"

Not use prepared food off-ship that is just heated up..

Are they hiring Chefs of microwave operators

Lots of those cute touches are gone now.  I loved those little gift wrapped snacks in our cabin (now stale left over WJ cookies).  No more cards for the Meet and Mingle (small scrap of paper).  No chocolates on the pillow.  Downgrade of soaps.  Elimination of those fun upper tier parties on less than 7 nights, and other events.  No more free room service.  Can't find the "stinky cheese" at the CL/DL lounge snack bar any more. No more happy hour event on MJ.  Miss those Next Cruise certificates we used to collect and keep for later.  There are many more small things that have disappeared...but I have been "off ship" for too long to remember them now.  😮

Apparently Azamara was sold off

Laundry costs were to high due to iced facecloths and spending more for plastic glasses. Celebrity will probably discontinue the service when cruising resumes or else. 🤣

When I did this it was your choice to grab a glass of champagne or not. Kinda hard with my carry on so I usually skipped but for sure I remember doing it. They were standing out of traffic with trays of glasses of champagne. Maybe not something I loved to drink, but a nice touch.

Semantics. I'm aware real champagne only comes from france. I was using the same term as the person who showed it. Picky picky picky. Actually I like sparkling wine from Spain or Portugal best that is a little sweeter. I can read wine labels. I'm not into brut no matter what you call it. German wine, resiling, anything sweeter. Yes I know German wine is labelled by the picking etc.

Just using easiest term quoting someone. I actually know what I like.

On our Celebrity cruises the servers never impeded the entry to the ship. They always stood to the sides and handed you either sparkling wine or OJ. Your choice. Nice touch.

Chill out. 🥂 Just didn't want someone who hasn't cruised with Celebrity to get the wrong idea.

Yes, the stinky cheese!  We did discover that some ships have it in the Windjammer at lunch.  I confess, I did fill up a bowl before leaving.

Thanks!  The Frenchies do tend to cringe...and worse...when we call our domestic cheap bubbly "Champagne".  😉  🥂
