What do other cruise lines do that you wish Royal Caribbean would do?

Hopefully RC will take Celebrity's lead on this one.

That smoke keeps me out of the casino...so I am not giving up any part of my nest egg.  😄

Though gags me totally on Radiance class ships, with the casino doors open to the Centrum, which acts like a giant chimney.  Worst is sea days.  🤢

It's not about the airfare.  It's about the travel from the airport to the port.  You must not live in NYC.  Getting from JFK to Bayonne can take well over an hour, depending on time of day and is quite costly.  Newark is much more convenient.

The one and only time we sailed out of Bayonne...we indeed flew into Newark.  And knowing it was going to be a nightmare to get to the port...it was the one and only time we booked RCI transfer service to the port.  And boy was I glad I did!!  😮

Talking about under the bridge?

No, the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge has to be passed under for Bayonne also.  It's a ship length issue, see my post previously in the thread with the comparison to the largest NCL ships that have home-ported at the MCT.  It turns into a question of how much of the ship is permitted to protrude past the pier as Anthem is longer than the longest NCL ship that has ported there.

I also wish that Royal sailed out of the upper West Side piers instead of out in Bayone, New Jersey, which is a pain to get to for many New Yorkers since it is way the heck across Staten Island.

Great for us!  15 minutes over the bridge😃

Celebrity announced months ago that they’re 8 day cruises would be changed to 7 day.  I have an 8 day in July and Aug with no idea what’s going on.

We've got a 10 night Celebrity cruise booked for September 2021 out of Vancouver. No word from Celebrity.

We aren't casino people either. Agree about the chimney effect on Radiance class ships. Also on the Voyager Class ships. Smoke stench from the casino finds it way up the stairs to the Royal Promenade and also into the Schooner Bar.

RCCL does already offer refundable deposits.  That is what we always book.  You just have to wait til the last pages of booking online to click that box (price usually goes up about $50 per person, but for us has actually been less than the NRD on a few cruises and gone down). Alternatively, use a good travel agent and it is really easy to just ask them for the refundable rate.

I should have been more specific:  Princess usually does not charge extra for refundable deposits.

I really want a to do a Panama Canal cruise

It's not showing in the inventory, but the Radiance is still doing her Panama Canal this October.  She's going from Vancouver, BC to San Pedro on 9/24/21 for 7 nights, then drops into a black hole, but if you ask they will tell you she leaves on 10/1for a Panama Canal cruise.  Then, drops into another black hole, and on 10/24 has a 5 night Caribbean from Miami, then black hole.

I remember that on Mariner and Freedom as well.  Like a chimney in the middle of the Promenade.  Yuck...  🤢  Not as bad as Radiance though...with full double doors open wide into the Centrum...wish they would put closing doors on those....or better yet:

No inside smoking at all.  Happy at least they eliminated it on the balconies.  🤗  Wish they would get with the trend of healthy, clean air ....which the majority of us would appreciate.  But of course...that's one of the "other" thread topics.  😉

I still have a TP Honolulu to Vancouver booked for May 5th that has not been officially cancelled!!!  😮

I called one of the phone reps the other day, asking to check to be sure.  Nope, still listed as going.  Hah!  Small clues available:

1. 11 nights

2.  Going to Canada.

3.  Ship won't even be there (not coming up from Sydney).

4.  Has not been listed for sale in weeks.

Oh sure...that's going.  🙄

Final payment?  Nope...NADA...not going to happen.  Looks like 900 in FCC...like I wanted that again. 😣😠   Will cancel day before final.

We live in upstate NY. Just about 3 hours from either NYC or Cape Liberty.

Cape Liberty is 1000% better to sail from. Better parking, processing for check in and baggage on departure and return and all in all a much easier port to leave from.

We have sailed from NYC many times over the past 21 years and try to avoid it whenever possible.

I wish RCCL would offer at least one 12-14 day Caribbean from NJ in any of the first three months of the year. 12 days gets you to lots of places and the extra days at sea are better spent on a ship than in airports, hotels and restaurants than wasted when flying to Florida or San Juan.

We also would like no smoking indoors.  Celebrity and Azamara,, owned by RCI, have this.

Another thing that I would like Royal to do is post reviews of their shore excursions right on the shore excursion page. I was on Carnival's site and reading reviews from people who did the shore excursions was very insightful as to pro's and con's of the different excursions.

Totally agree!  You misunderstood my post.  I was referring to out of town house guests who fly into Newark to visit and want to be picked up at the airport, not cruisers.  Nothing to do with getting to the port in Bayonne from Newark.  Of course, if someone is headed to the port then Newark airport is the better choice.  We had a relative who kept doing that because they saved a few bucks on the airfare until I told them that if they kept it up they would have to spend their "savings" on a very long cab ride.
