Last time on Navigator was 2016. She already had the extra cabins on deck 11 and 12. Did she have more amping since then?

No idea on time line. Were the slides on then.

Did the 9-night southern Caribbean itinerary on Navigator just after Thanksgiving 2018. The amp was a couple of cruises after that, which is when they added the slides, lime & coconut, etc.

I was kind of getting used to Ensenada over the years. There are a couple of fun bars. The Pharmacia's are just as good and less expensive than Cozumel. Critterchick found a great massage place that we never had a chance to try before they stopped sailing. There are some nice vendors out at the blowhole, and it is a nice drive. One of our vans stopped at a liquor store so we could purchase beer and drinks for the ride. On the way out they were building a fancy resort with a swim up bar last time we were there. It is kind of casual place. A little bit dirty, but fun. I wouldn't mind going back to Ensenada. :classic_biggrin::classic_biggrin:

And being able to fly down the morning of the cruise, without a time change....+++++++:classic_biggrin:

Living in SD, Tijuana, Rosarito Beach, and Ensenada were my gang’s hangout prior to turning 21 In the early 70’s. Hussongs was the only bar In Ensenada, and La Bufadora was nothing but a blow hole in the outskirts of town, no touristy stuff.

I did go to Ensenada with my daughters on the Viking Serenade in 1996, and it had changed then. I would probably be shocked now...

Gotcha, that makes sense since Mariner did the same in summer 2018

I'd enjoy Catalina Island as well

Did I not say they are becoming the old dames of the fleet?

🤣Absolutely not.

Actually, I have no idea what my high school sweetheart looks like. I don't go to high school reunions nor do I belong to the novel of faces. Perfectly happy with my choice tho.

I will say though, that I think the older V/F class ships are more appealing looking ships than the newer ships that have come after them. I really like the O class but they are no beauties. They are better seen from the inside.

Catalina on the island is a really cute little town. Golf carts, no cars and little miniature garbage trucks to pick up the trash cans. (simple minds, simple pleasures :classic_biggrin:) The tour of the Casino in Avalon (not gambling) is really interesting as are the stories about the island and the history with Wrigley.  https://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/about-the-island/history/#:~:text=The Wrigley Vision&text=bought nearly every share of,he owned a controlling interest.&text=His son Philip Knight Wrigley, and was closed to tourists.

Agreed. The V/F still have a classic ocean liner look to them while Oasis & Quantum class look like apartment buildings dropped onto a hull.

I've never sailed on the Voyager class but done Liberty, Oasis/Allure, Anthem and Serenade. Loved them all for different reasons.  Would like to give the AMP'd Voyager-class a try someday but it's got to be longer than 4 days.  I have considered B2B but the "party-boat" reputation gives me pause.

I can see your points, but I like them. I would even argue that Oasis and Quantum classes still look closer to that classic shape than some other lines' new ships. Thinking the new Virgin ships, the Norwegian Epic looks like a baluga, and their Breakaway Plus class looks top-heavy. Also, pretty much every Carnival ship design has always looked slightly "off" with the stubby bow, and that oversized whale tale smoke stack that sits too far back, and a front that typically has a number of more decks than the back which kind of makes me think large sea-going ferry. These are just my opinions.

The Celebrity Edge looks like an office building dropped onto a hull with flat horizontal and vertical lines of windows from the infinite verandas and the widow washers scaffold hanging off of the side,

I spent most of my career working for tract homebuilders.  I was the go between for sales and construction. Used to do a lot of modifications for customers. Some was questionable design. We used to say " Can't see it from my house"

FWIW, 90% of my time on vacation, I can't see the outside profile, so I'm good.

Truthfully, from a distance, Oasis is gorgeous

Same angle, Mariner looks nice as well

Where's Bob when you need him

We sailed the first post-amp cruise on Navigator on 3/1/19. The slides were new, and one of the them was still being finished when we sailed. The ship was beautiful and we really enjoyed the new venues. This was a 9 night ABC island sailing. We loved the ship and were disappointed when it's itineraries became the 3/4 night cruises. Although we live in Florida, we prefer longer cruises.

Don't get me wrong, I love Oasis and Quantum ships as well. As OB and John said, it's what is on the inside that counts.

hopefully the clock on the 5 year contract (I think it's a 5yr contract) continued to tick even during the cruising pause

It would as the show changes are tied to the drydock schedule and that doesn't change.......unless they signed a 10 year extension instead of 5.🤣
