CDC Conditional Sail Order Extended to Nov 1

The CDC reiterated it today though.

Unless they also said something like "it will not be renewed longer and cruising can resume at that time" then this is nothing different from RCCL currently stating that they plan to resume cruises on June 1, 2021.

Umm, the conditional sail order was originally in effect through November 2021.

Does your choice of the word "umm" imply disapproval of the question?

Not disapproval, per se, simply questioning the nature of the "news" as not news at all, just some news channel drone getting a quote from the CDC, as part of reporting on the CLIA statement, who simply restates all the current/prior notices because there's nothing new they're allowed to say.

I thought it was always set to expire  10/31/21

"This Order is effective upon signature and shall remain in effect until the earliest of (1) the expiration of the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ declaration that COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency; (2) the CDC Director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other considerations; or (3) November 1, 2021."

Just so I understand - the order prevents any cruise ship from sailing to/from the US until that date?   Or is it possible that under the order they may allow ships to begin test sailings?

Well it's possible they may allow it, but it's also been said the cdc hasnt told the cruiselines details they need to start anything from here. Until then cdc gives details, cruises seems stuck.

In theory this was all about a process by which cruise lines could get conditional permission to sail.

The cruise lines claim the CDC has stalled on the details of what they must do to get that condition permission. Based on the timelines for test sailing and 60 day advance request to resume sailing, we are already at a point that best case we'd have cruises restart in July. But we see no motion. So most of us lean toward August as the earliest possible. And that's for the first few ships and ports. Later for the rest. November....?

If this was a duel, the two sides are just at the "Glove slap to the face" stage. They haven't decided on choice of weapons, who will be seconds, and where the duel will ultimately take place (my best guess is federal court). This a long way from settled.

Maybe all these summer cruises from Nassau and Bermuda can qualify as CDC “test” cruises.   Did the CDC’s CSO stipulate the test cruises had to be from a US Port?

also, IF (and its a BIg IF) the CDC just lets the CSO expire, do cruise lines  have to then schedule Coast Guard Inspections, etc,  wonder what the timing will be from Nov 1 to the first revenue cruises from US Ports.

I'm pretty sure they were supposed to be non revenue with volunteers

I could be wrong but I thought these were cdc inspections, not coast guard inspections. As some questioned of the cdc could handle the inspections.
