StLouisCruisers Posted September 27, 2021 #26 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Good Monday morning everyone! I'm not feeling 100% today but we still worked out this morning. Hopefully things will turn around and I'll feel better soon. Today's days to celebrate are all good ones. I found two different websites showing yesterday and today as Family Day so why don't we just celebrate it every day? Ancestors too! World Tourism sounds good to me! I would love to be out traveling again. Quote is so true and I've heard slightly different variations of it. Always ready for some slow cooked pork. We ate quite a bit of it in the last week made by the young man in the food truck nearby. Thanks for providing the Daily for us @richwmn. Also thanks to @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists. Prayers and cheers for all involved. @mamaofamigood luck with your dental cleaning today. Stay warm! Also congrats on your DGS's career plan. We can always use EMTs. @cunnorlfingers crossed your Australia circumnavigation goes off as planned. @tjcox9what a great and very unique photo! Those long necks come in handy sometimes, right Mr. Giraffe? We were lucky enough to see Sydney quite a few times on our trips down under. In 2013 twice and four times in 2017 on our B2B2B2B cruises. It's one of my favorite places on the planet to visit. Most of us are looking forward to Australia opening up again. Only problem, I'm not sure how I'm going to get DH back on a plane trip that long again. He can be stubborn!😎 While I'm stretched out on the sofa resting I'll look for some photos. Have a good day! 25

ger_77 Posted September 27, 2021 #29 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Good morning, thanks for the Daily! I think all of the contributors to the Daily wish they could be tourists again in a safe world; the sooner the better. I appreciate my family, and am grateful to my ancestors. In order to achieve my Metis status, I did a lot of genealogy research and was able to trace ancestors dating back to 1635. It's another beautiful day in the making out there, so we'll take advantage of it by clearing the yard once more of all the leaves. We had some strong winds yesterday, which happened just a couple of hours after I'd finished raking the leaves, so DH and I will spend time together raking and bagging more. I'd much rather do it in nice weather, than try to rake and bag when our hands are freezing before a snowfall. @kazu it sounds like you and I have the same weatherman; you have to take the predictions with a grain of salt. The northern birds are coming south and many stop in our yard for the feeders and for the fountain. Yesterday afternoon at one point I had 3 robins using the fountain as their personal spa - there was water flying everywhere, and they were having a blast. We'll keep the fountain going until the numbers dwindle down and then we'll winterize it, and cover it for the next 6 months. The bird feeders on the other hand, will go year 'round, so I'll have to get stocked up with bird seed in the next while, as it goes up in price over the winter, due to demand. I like today's menu suggestion, as it's pretty simple - when I make pulled pork, I toss a pork loin into the slow cooker, pour over a bottle of whatever barbecue sauce we have on hand and let it go. I've also done a beef roast that way, but using a jar of dill pickles (brine and all), and it makes a lovely roast. I've got salmon on the menu for tonight, using the lemon/garlic recipe from a couple of months ago - it's turned into a family favourite - accompanied by pan fried potatoes and fresh veggies. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do. Stay safe, wash your hands, wear your masks, be well, and hydrate! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂 Gerry

smitty34877 Posted September 27, 2021 #31 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Good morning and thanks for lists recipes, quotes and ports. Today's recipe would be perfect but involves a food shopping trip.Maybe tomorrow. My ancestors came from Ireland and Sweden. My cousin traced our Swedish relatives back to the 1600's. It was harder on the paternal side as I too was a Smith. My Dad's mother was from Cork City and using her maiden name we did find some ancestors there.I often think of my grandmother 's coming to Ellis Island at the ages of 18 and 20 respectively. They were very strong women. We have not been to the port and look forward to the pictures. Today will be busy with taking Tana to PT and fitting a long dog walk in.I have leftover baked ziti for dinner tonight with a pasta soup on the stove for lunch. All set!
StLouisCruisers Posted September 27, 2021 #32 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Nov. 11, 2017. Turnaround day so we were exploring. That is not our ship (which was the Sun Princess). We were docked at Darling Harbor and took a ferry over. I believe the ship in the photo was a Carnival ship. Here is a photo of us leaving Darling Harbor to sail under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, same day. Then the Sydney Opera House. A ship at Circular Quay, downtown and the Opera House. People climbing the Sydney Harbour bridge. The ferry docks This photo was taken Dec. 3, 2013 while there on Diamond Princess. Taken from a pylon on the Harbour Bridge. The pedestrian walk on the Harbour Bridge. Looks like if you take this tour you might get wet! We ran into our friend Marion from Brisbane (CC friend) while walking towards the Opera House. Several of my CC friends met us the day before when we got off the ship, to have a drink at a nearby cafe. A closer view of the Opera House roof.
cruzn single Posted September 27, 2021 #33 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Finally, I am on my i-pad and it looks like posting might be possible. I have missed a couple of days. Prayers for all in need! I have been too lazy to sign on with the laptop. Australia has been on my bucket list for a long time. Had it figured out to fly there after my usual January trip to Hawaii, but a virus got the best of those plans. Now I just want to re-enter the “world tourism” realm. @dfishyou certainly found some great pulled pork recipes. I have always just added a can of chicken broth to my crockpot with the pork A good friend just called—she is taking her DH for a Covid test. Fever and chills all night. He is almost 90 so it is a worry till they get results. They are both vaccinated! Have a great day everyone! And if it posts, a western Colorado sunset from last night. 28

Rare VMax1700 Posted September 27, 2021 #37 Share Posted September 27, 2021 An early good evening from a windy and wet Cork. Thanks for the lists................ As it is World Tourism Day we went up to the attic and dusted off our emotional baggage (suitcases) and brought them down to let air circulate before we start packing them for our Eurodam cruise next week. 😁 We celebrated Family Day yesterday as we had our 3 granddaughters up for lunch yesterday afternoon. The eldest granddaughter was in pain as she broke her collarbone on Saturday afternoon while she was horse riding. 😢 I really appreciate my ancestors as without them, would I be here??? @StLouisCruisers Sorry to hear you are not feeling 100%. Hope you feel better soon. @smitty34877 Cork women are strong women. I know, I married one! 😁 Take care everyone. 22 1

Sharon in AZ Posted September 27, 2021 #42 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Good morning everyone and Happy Monday! I’m getting ready to take DM to an appointment but wanted to pop in and say how excited I am this morning. I got up at 8:00 am, took Blue outside and opened my email. Viola! An upsell offer came in at 8:01 am to a Neptune Suite, just what we had been watching for. I called as fast as I could and was on hold for a while and when the rep looked only one was left! Wow. But it was a good location so we took it and it’s close to the Neptune Lounge too. Yay! I will check in later and read the Daily. Have a great day everyone!
Horizon chaser 1957 Posted September 27, 2021 #43 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Good morning, all! Family and ancestors are good days to have together, especially right after daughter’s day! Tourism - well, let’s just say we have not overachieved in that department lately. Pork shoulder sounds good, that might be the plan for tonight. Sydney Australia was the last truly good stop of the 2020 GWV before the weather, both literal and figurative, closed in on us. We were there overnight. My unofficial son lives there and picked us up for sightseeing and a tour of the Hunter Valley. We toured wineries, stayed overnight, and started the day with a sunrise hot air balloon flight. It was magical! Sailing into Sydney Harbour. The iconic Sydney Bridge is known locally as The Coat Hanger. Darling Harbour, the tourist district along the water front. I had a kangaroo burger, served with a slice of beetroot as is the style in Australia. A White Ibis, locally called a Bin Chicken. It is big, and very nightmarish looking in person! DH in the doorway of a winery we visited in the Hunter Valley. Mother and Joey kangaroos came to graze in the backyard of the cabin we rented. The burner in the balloon getting ready to go aloft. The moment I remembered my fear of heights. It was all to magical to care. Joining other balloons to welcome the new day. Farms below. The olive trees create a checker board border to the vineyards. Passing under the Coat Hanger at sailaway. The tour group on the bridge waved goodbye. There was much speculation wondering if any of them were shipmates with poor timing. And a final farewell to my greatest highlight of the year. The pilot disembarks. The water was incredibly rough at this point. This was the moment when ‘Sydney Harbour Pilot’ hit the top of my list of jobs I never want to do! And of course, Happy Monday, with fond memories of a BHB! 26
