Good morning.  I loved my MIL, she was a wonderful caring person.  DH loves Bologna, especially the German kind Publix sells.  I wish the nations would be united.  Truthful quote today.  We have today's meal several times a year.  Have never been to today's port.  It's a very gloomy morning here in middle Florida.  @Seasick SailorHappy Anniversary.  Thank you @grapau27for the beautiful photos.

Prayers and toasts to our lists.

Stay safe, social distance, and wear your mask:

Flaming volcano is a large tropical group cocktail typically made with rum, brandy, pineapple juice, orange juice, and orgeat syrup. Many variations exist, and the cocktail in the 21st century is more about the presentation than an adherence to a set list of ingredients. Wikipedia
Main alcohol: Rum
Ingredients: 1 oz Brandy, 1 oz Light Rum, 1 oz overproof rum, 2 oz almond syrup, 2 oz unsweetened lemon juice, 4 oz orange juice
Preparation: Combine all ingredients with 2 scoops of crushed ice in a blender, blend briefly, then pour into the "volcano bowl". Pour some rum into the central crater of the volcano bowl and light it. For garnish score pineapple or orange slices with a knife and insert onto rim of bowl; optionally add maraschino cherries to the main drink. Multiply recipe to adjust to the size of the container (e.g. x2 for a 32-US-fluid-ounce (950 ml) volcano bowl).
Served: Blended with ice (frozen style)
Standard garnish: Maraschino Cherries, Pineapple and/or Orange quarter slices
Drinkware: Volcano Bowl

Good Sunday morning!

Thank you, everyone, for The Daily; cheers to those celebrating and hugs to all on the care list.

We have only been to Santorini one time - November 27, 2009, =X= Solstice and our very first Med cruise to be followed by a TA.  We went up to town and hired a guy with a van and had a nice tour including a winery stop for a tasting.  It was a good day.

Good morning! No one knocked on our door this morning and delivered coffee with a warm greeting and smile. Nothing to eat in house for breakfast, no beautiful flower arrangements, no chocolates on our bed last night?

It’s not easy going “Cold Turkey” the day after disembarking from a wonderful cruise!😩

Thanks Rich and all our guest editors for the Daily Report!

Not feeling terribly sorry for you today. Glad you had a good cruise .

Good morning everyone. I can celebrate mother in law day because my son in laws have a great one. Me, not such a great one. She didn’t think either of her daughter in laws were good enough for her sons.

sea sick sailor, Happy Anniversary. I hope you enjoy your day.

Last night we went to a show in our clubhouse. We were masked but most of the people weren’t and we were surprised. The singer was not so great but it was very nice to be out and able to socialize with our friends.

Stay safe everyone,

Carol

Carol, are you and Sam looking at Covid boosters?

Roy

Absolutely. I am having mine this week. J and J and I’m going to make an appointment for Sam for next Saturday. Our aide gets his second shot  this Friday. Guess who will take care of him if he gets sick?

Good Morning from a warm but overcast day at the beach

I have not been to todays port, but it is on the list. The pictures are wonderful.

@Seasick Sailor A very Happy Anniversary and wish you both many many more.

The new Carnival Ship was christened yesterday at Port Canaveral. All sorts of excitement going on.  "Shaq" is the new fun ambassador. He is quite popular around here from his days playing for the Magic. We went out on the boat yesterday buy stayed on the river to avoid the port.

Today , DD and I are going in the pool.  Nice relaxing day.

Stay safe and enjoy today

We walked down the 1,172 steps from Fira to Fira Port as there was a two-hour backup for the aerial tramway!

We walked down too.  I’m not a fan of the aerial tramway and was happy to do the steps versus doing it. 😉

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  Both DH and I were blessed with wonderful mother-in-laws; sadly, they're both gone, but their memories live on through their recipes.  I like having a bologna sandwich once in a while - @Mr. Boston has almost the identical method, except I prefer ketchup to mustard in mine.  DH likes to have his fried, then served in a toasted sandwich.   The United Nations is so important.

Happy 30th Anniversary to @Seasick Sailor, wishing you and Allen many more years of love and laughter.

4 years ago yesterday we were at Santorini, our 3rd visit to that gorgeous island.  I know everyone takes photos of the beautiful white and blue buildings, as I have, but I'll post some different ones for you to see.

Today is a quiet one here on the "frozen tundra" where temperatures continue to fall.  We had a freezing rain overnight which will make the streets slick, so will be staying home and spending a quiet day.  I like today's menu suggestion, but the pork loins I have are totally frozen, so will tuck the recipe away for another day.  I think I'll make a batch of buns today to help warm the house and make it smell ever so nice.  We have some leftover ham that will be turned into ham and cheese buns for dinner tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  @rafinmdthe Eurodam Cruise & Travel Director is in quarantine?  Yikes!!!  Raising the glasses to toast all on the happy list tonight and to those who are flying today to Barcelona for next weekend's departure of the Eurodam.  Stay safe, wear your masks, wash your hands and be well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

We have enjoyed Santorini a few times.  Just a few days ago we took the tender over and went up to Thira (pronounced Fira) and just wandered around.  Other times we have visited Oia and other towns,  the beaches, and an amazing archaeological site, Akrotiri.  If you get a chance, you really should see it.

A few photos from our port call at Santorini while aboard the Nieuw Statendam in October 2019. It was the maiden season for the Celebrity Edge. We had four other ships in port with us that day so you can imagine the crush of tourists. I still can't believe I walked down the 1,172 steps at Fira! The trick is to stay upright as the "convenience stairs" are quite slippery. Also go to the wide end of the stair at curves.

I was reading about the cargo ship off Victoria that lost containers in the storm. What a mess. And dangerous cargo to boot.

I haven’t heard anything about that… I wonder if it makes it onto the BBC.

Good Morning All,

Just reading yesterday’s thread. Was gone all day on an organized charity ride.

We have red skies this morning. Hope that means we really are going to get the predicted rain. Personally that means our construction schedule gets changed, but it has been falling off track anyway. Our chosen contractor still has not come through with a contract/ schedule of progress payments. He said we would have it by yesterday. We have a second bid, and I’m contemplating asking for his schedule of payments and written agreement…. With rain, everyone gets further behind.  I need patience……. Now. (I’m reminding myself of my promise to wait until tomorrow to act.)

Have a great day everyone!
