Passenger Count for current sailings, can anyone report?

Just off b2b on Indy. 65% on weekend portion, just over 50% on weekday portion.  I believe the 'demand' (lol) will drop after the holiday rush.  If ya can put up w/ the ridiculousness of mask wearing, it's a great time to cruise on the cheap.

We were on the 11/28 Liberty sailing.  Guest services said there were 2150 aboard.  We had a few children aboard probably less than 50 at the most.  Elevators were "limited" to 5 but was not enforced or many times practiced.   Some seats particularly near the stage were blocked off and they encouraged at least a seat between pax but that also was not practiced by many.   Most did wear masks in designated areas at least.

Just off Symphony this morning (Dec.4th sailing) and at the beginning of the week our head waiter told us 3979 passengers onboard  (he said they were expecting around 4100). Our cruise director later in the week said 3500 so not sure which is accurate. It really didn’t feel less crowded though… it felt pretty similar to our pre-covid  cruises. Not many school age kids on board.

I was told "it's 4000" by a staff person at the pursers and heard reports on C.C. that is was 4002. The cruise director I think was quoting the previous week for some reason as I recall him saying that. I don't think he had the current weeks number when he said that. It did feel more like pre-covid like you said. Not overly crowed, but lines hear and there with some crowds. A full ship would not feel as much fun.

Elevators are still limited to six pax.   Social distancing is still evident in tables, chairs, etc.  Almost no self serve at all.  Shows have seats blocked off...etc...etc.

I sailed Oasis in September and Mariner this past week on both occasions the theatre was separated between vaxxed and non.  The vaxxed deck there was no social distancing and masks were optional.  While the upper deck required masks to be worn and social distancing was in play.

On Oasis, there were certain performance for vaxxed only.

Other than the Solarium, the pool decks observed social distancing of 6 feet between groups of loungers on Oasis, but on Mariner approximately 2-3 feet of social distancing.

While on Osis, the pool was limited to only 9 bathers at a time.  On Mariner no such restriction that I observed.

WJ. social distancing on Oasis, but none on the Mariner.  WJ was closed for dinner on Oasis, but open on Mariner.  As a matter of fact, they had a theme night at dinner.  All meals in the WJ  there was no self-serve. Waiters and other staff members wore masks.

Dining room, vaxxed on the 3rd deck and no social distancing.  While vaxxed were on the 4 & 5th deck and social distancing was observed and masks required, other than when eating and drinking.

As in the WJ, waiters and other staff wore masks.

Casino, no social distancing and masks were optional.

Ice Show only for vaxxed.

so I know someone on Symphony right now and asked them if they could find out what the Dec 18th sailing would be…. He talked to staff and they are expecting 5800!!  Wow!  So anyone saying 70% max is wrong…. if they do that they really need to make changes and open more tables in windjammer,  and add more shows.

Word is for XMAS and NYE for Anthem they will be at MAX capacity. And this week are taking on more crew this sailing 12/12 in preparation.

This was coming from the Captain of the ship at one of the member event's. Hope this is inaccurate and are just rumor's, but have seen this stated on 3 separate sites from 3 different sources

My friends just booked the Symphony for January. Royal told her that she had to book the shows after she was onboard the ship. Do you book the shows through the app? If not, then how? Thanks in advance.

Yes, through the app when they get onboard

Well if it came directly from the Captain's mouth, then I'd tend to believe it as he'd know what his upcoming sailing capacity would be.  Xmas and NY Eve are usually two of the biggest sailings, irregardless of the itineraries.

Whether all that are booked actually show up to cruise is another story.

Capt. Johnny on Harmony stated that all lines had agreed per the CDC to fill no more than 80% of capacity until March 2022.  They expected to hit those numbers for the Christmas/New Year's holidays.

Not to be rude, but I seriously do not understand the concern.  Personally, we would love the ships to be at full capacity because that would mean things are getting back to normal.  We have cruised since August and the lower capacity was very different and just not the same.  We love having lots of people on the ship

Some of us prefer having fewer people on board right now. With limited seating and social distancing it can be people overload. So far we have been on 5 cruises with more in the beginning of the year and loving the reduced capacity. We are definitely trying to take advantage of having fewer people on board.

I thought the CDC wasn’t allowing max ship capacity or are you saying max capacity of what the CDC is allowing? Big difference between the two. BTW, I don’t think the Captain would be spreading rumors.

The Captain told us the "precise" count was 4,009.

Wonder what the count will be in January on the Oasis.  Still many non-suite cabins available.  Wonder if they will sell them?  I would "assume" that the priority for Royal is to sell the higher priced suites first as they get more revenue, and cap the capacity in inside, outside and balcony cabins.

Just my thoughts.

We need to move on with this capacity talk.  It does not matter since everyone is vaccinated.

But everyone isn’t vaccinated….kids under 12 don’t have to be.  And with the Oasis class ships sailing with 800 kids during these holiday sailings some people might be worried.  I am vaccinated but I also worry about the experience of being on an Oasis class ship with that many people and still having to have tables blocked off/social distance etc.

For me..since I have mobility issues the elevator situation is the hardest.  If they only  let 6 people in an elevator that makes it hard if 5800 people are sailing.  I was on Mariner and Freedom with 50-60% capacity and had issues getting elevators at times.  I also made the mistake of climbing in an elevator with 6 people by myself and people got nasty with me. I was masked and so where they

it's fun to speculate.

TBH I love cruising, would I prefer lower passenger counts YES. But is is not a deal breaker.

We sailed Freedom in OCT and we were at 1300, one of the best cruises. NO waiting for anything, NO chair hogs, service was above and beyond more so than normal. Completely different experience.
